Ask the kids, they would be more than happy to tell you everything that happened in the "game".

Im just too impatient to wait for sunday night to see the other teams results :D
I coach an Under 9 team at Gawler, would be good to have coaches posts in there results. Not that it matters at this age, but It would be interesting to see how other teams in the same div as you are going. :)
Who cares... let them have fun, teach them some skills and let them be kids...
I think exactly the same as you guys. If my players walk off the field with a smile on there faces at the end of the game, that is the most important thing for me as a coach.

At the end of the day with teaching young players football. It's all abt trying to teach them basic principles of football. A major principal at this age is to have fun and enjoy playing football.

I have seen a number of goalkeepers (from different clubs) crying after letting in goals in E&D and a number at lower age group levels :(

I dont call this enjoyment :(

This comes back to the kids and the parents and coach to discuss and make right, every player makes mistakes and a goalkeeper letting in a goal may or may not even be due to a mistake his or someone elses.

Highlight the positives , downplay the negatives and teach kids it is a team game where everyone plays a part.

When people place too much emphasis on "errors" or "failure" children learn to cope by retreating into themselves and not trying things, i have always taught players that I will never ever punish them for trying something, whether it works or not, first they have to have the "idea" then the execution can be learnt in time.

My team recently lost a game in the dying minutes due to an error by our keeper, not one of the players on the field complained as I have taught them the "team" concept... In fact at the end of the game I highlighted the 7 outstanding saves the keeper made to give us a chance to be in the gane at the end, and they all clapped him for his efforts.

This is one area of modified rules that needs to be changed even though it will be costly (maybe SAASL/E&D can provide financial assistance to clubs) those goals are too big 5.4m x 1.8m keepers have very little chance unless theyre fearless and does very little for their confidence. Id much rather see kids having more touches than scoring goals as SSG highlights.

Getting a 5yo,6yo,7yo to try and understand goalkeeping techniques and team philosophies in a 6mtr x 2mtr goal (approx), now that would be a challenge? And yes I know I am going a bit over the top but trust me its not that easy and if you dont believe me give it a go and see for yourself. And Povman as the kids get older, you're right on he mark

and as for some parents and coaches well thats another story again!

 Correct you are, under sixes and seven's should play more of an SSG style of game.

Parents and coaches mmmm yes very different story indeed

I found this quite interesting, it costs more to register with E&D then it does for a player to register with the FFSA JPL!

http://www.elizdists.com.au/fees.html
Registration Fees
Under 6 to Under 10 - $15.00/Player
Under 11 and above - $17.00/player

FFSA is $11 for players 6 to 16.

This does not include Insurance or FFA levy (which would not go to eitherthe FFSA nor E&D), this is just the player levy fee.

Interesting!

That seems a bit like saying it costs $150 a year to register your car, technically it does , but in reality you have to cough up the whole $595
