Substitutions can only be made during a stoppage in play, and time is also supposed to be added at the Referee's discretion for them. (Or did the referee allow the subtitution to be made during play and then award a IFK against the GK for having possession of the ball for more than six seconds.)
I know the rules and I was just as confused. The keeper caught ball and the referee asked him to hold, the substitution was made and he then asked the keeper to play on (as if nothing had happened). There was another one where he did the same whilst a player down the other end walked off for treatment.

"Look at the flag, Ref!" Yeh...all well and good but point to note is that ARs' duties are to provide advice only (*) and it is the Referee's decision whether he/she decides to act on that advice. Clearly then, your Referee did not agree with the AR and that's ok.

(*) The scope of the AR duties is also subject to Referee's discretion, e.g. it may be limited to advising the Referee on corner kicks, goal kicks, throw-ins and off sides only and leaving everything else such as substitutions, penalty kicks, fouls and misconduct to the Referee. It is for this reason why it is important for Clubs to provide ARs asap and to to catch up with the Referee before the game to clarify these points.
I know referees can overule linesman and they so often do, but it's rare for them call offside when not in line with the play and the linesman hasn't signalled it, especially when it is the linesman of the defending team. Yesterday there were a lot of them and the ones I were in line with he unfortunately got wrong. Couldn't tell on the fourth goal as I wasn't anywhere near in line with it but it looked like he initially ruled offside before allowing it to stand.

Overall it wasn't a dirty game or any excessive complaints.

SPOC 3 - 2 Jets

What a cliffhanger of a game with it close all the way through the game. SPOC did very well to keep coming back after jets continued to push and snatch goals after we got up. Highlight of the game would have to be Prescott's stunning free kick, after a foul on the edge of the box, to bring them back to 2-2 with about 20 to go. Credit to Jets for pushing us and well worthy of finishing in the top 4 of the league. Hopefully they can do a job for us next week.....

Well done to Sterling as well for knocking off the 'world allstars' in what must have been a comprehensive display winning 3-1. Anyone willing to give a match report on the game??? Coyote, Slappin, Roo??

I was quite close to this, Definitely onside. Burrundi Keeper had me questioning whether he was actually a keeper. Bad positioning all game.

In the reserves, the referee in the last couple of weeks for the vipers gets 10 out of 10. He does a better job than most of the officials out there. He is firm with his decisions and gets on with the game and takes no shit from anyone. His decisions are usually spot on.

Well done to the Stirling lads on their victory hope your players still have their legs intact!!

I never thought i would say this in a public forum but C'MON YOU SAINTS. Just to prove that there is still something good in the world. Your club is truly deserving of winning the league unlike those unsporstmanlike thugs from the Veneto club.

You feeling ok, MM? Never thought I would hear you say anything positive about the Anglican stoics. As for the Wanderers, please note that they use the Veneto Club facilities but they are otherwise not linked with the VC. (Roo etc...correct me if I am not correct.)

actually i think your right Lozza i dont reckon Adelaide Wands are strongly linked with the Veneto club cause when we played them down there i spoke with the old bloke in the bar and he said "Adelaide who??" They didn't even have a BBQ on. Next time i'll just take my own beer and food like they did when they played us last week.

oh yeah before Roo or any of his mates want to bag me for my previous statement let me enlighten you boys on an unwritten gentlemens agreement that has been in this league for as long as i can remember. I will spell it out for you.

When visiting a club it is customary to support their bar and BBQ as these small but important funds add up over the course of a season. Then again your club has never understood rules and sportsmanship so you probably won't understand this previous statement.

SPOC 3 JETS 2
Would have to agree with u monkeyboy was a cliffhanger of a game
and very enjoyable to watch some good soccer played by both teams, and some good goals scored, thought a draw would've been a
fairer result tho,ur third goal was definetly offside!the ref was an IDIOT!! but credit to ur lads in a game that was played with good spirit.good luck for the rest of the season with stirlings win over the
wankeras makes a very interesting run to the end
would rather see saints win the league over wankeras

B's
enjoyable game to play in! Good ref in a hard great spirited game
and great bunch of lads to play againts :clown:

At least that was the score - the ref abandoned the game deep in extra time (virtually no time left) after a scuffle broke out over a bad tackle. Playing in the game I'm not sure why the ref didn't just book the player, let the free kick be taken and then end the game. Instead he insisted on ending it there and then, even though the melee was over as quickly as it started.

Both sides can probably agree that there was no real malice or fighting done, just a few tempers flared and some argy-bargy.

Id agree with this, not much in it really, game shouldve been resumed with a free kick. Get on with it.

Gleeson had all the play apart from 10mins in the 2nd half when we were sleeping and let iggies back in the game.Apart from that, shouldve and wouldve been 3-0 5mins into the 2nd half had the ref called a penalty for handball in the box, instead of a freekick outside the box????? His age was against him..

Iggies players good bunch of lads, would rather see bosa and navorino in div2 next year..

I doubt you'll see Good News Roo on here for awhile. He's all over here like a bad rash when they win and no where to be seen when they lose.

I guess it depends what the referee sees. In a recent cup match between Bosa and Salisbury Florina one player of each side got involved in a scuffle (they were both at it) and then the Salisbury goalkeeper got involved. That's when the referee turned around and in the end it was the keeper who got booked, and the two who started it got off scott free.

The following day when I ran the line for you at West Beach was also another one. Their player got sent off and yours just got a yellow when both probably should have gone. Not saying it's right, but over a season they tend to even themselves out.

Who was it that got sent off? What is happening down there? I cannot believe that you could not beat them? And it was at home? Well I suppose the boys will say that just want to make it interesting!!!
In regards to the red... Maybe the ref just saw pushing from on and hitting from another or one provoked or the refs want to make the rest of the year intersting!!!
Good luck next week as i think you may need it....

The ref handed both players a yellow card for that incident. Unfortunately for Wanderers their player had already kicked someone and 2 yellows = red and a rest on the pine.

WIthout whingeing, Wanderers are the dirtiest team I have seen play for a long long time and were lucky to only have 1 player sent off. I know this tag line is a bit old and eveyone says it, but I thought it had some value to add considering we beat them and it can't be seen as whingeing after a loss.

Get off the Wanderers case man. If they are so dirty why are they playing in Div 1, you tool. I don't have anything to do with the club but leave them alone, its not there fault there successful. :)

Good point. I recall in the constitution of the Amateur league that "Div 1 teams cannot be dirty". And it probably is their fault that they are successful.

did you watch the Bs game your number 15 who tried to break our guys leg with that tackle, if you heard the noise that tackle made ,so lets not start about the dirtiest club tag . did anyone come on here and say anything about that tackle.no they didnt until now, so dont start that crap, you won fair and square just leave it at that, you call us the whingers and you guys win and still complain, FFS take the win and leave it

Yes i agree with you. That was a shocking tackle. Every person who saw that from our club acknowledged it was bad. I even spoke to him later and told him he was lucky to stay on as long as he did and he also agreed that it was a bad challenge. Probably not his best moment.

I also agree with you that we should drop the topic, lets look at another theme. Port Power, Greg Norman, Cadel Evans..........

Both times I've played Wanderer's this year they haven't been dirty. The B's were actualyl surprisingly friendly and even joked wit hme and the other guy who was playing as a striker for the last 10 mins. Course 20 mins later when I was playing in the A's game was a whole other case, lots of verbal abuse but that was it, no real dirty tackles or anything. And we gave as good as we got wit hther verbal abuse. Wandere's v Uni should be more of a derby game considering you guys were Adelaide Uni Blue not too long ago!
