the U16s .... a joke?

Post by theSPURSkid »

it seems the u16s is a league for the for kids that cant or wont make it to the u17s. dont get me wrong ive watched some 16s games and there are some good quailty players in the 16s but would they even stand a chance in the 17s?

with no A or B divisions there must be alot of 10 - 0 games and i wouldnt want to be in a team where i will lose 10 -0 or win 10-0 each week cos your not learning anything.

i think the league should just be scrapped. this would also take out some of the dropping 17s players back to 16s to make sure the team won.... which i witnessed first hand at the 16s modbury vs para hills game.

So by your own admission, you're rubbish ... and rather embarressed that you're not good enough for the 17s.

And look at it this way, if the FFSA did what you want and got rid of the 16s, you wouldn't have a team to play in. Now it's possible that if you apply yourself over this season, you may become good enough to play in the 17s. Strangely enough, that's what's happening to very nearly all the current players in the 16s because this age group is one of great development, development that happens at different rates for different kids. If they did what you want and got rid of the 16s, you wouldn't get a game, you'd spend the year playing school football and guess what, at that level, you wouldn't be developing and so at the mighty age of 15, your football career would be over. Is that what you really want? Or do you want the chance to train under good coaches, to play at federation level and have a crack at the next level?

even after all that i still say the league useless. its there for the rubbish kids that dont have the speed or the skills for the 17s. i know i condridict myself by playing in it. i choose to play 16sbecause it was the "easy league" as this year was my first year back in the game from injury after 2 years.

So are you saying that Adelaide City, Para Hills, Modbury and Blue Eagles U16's sides are useless? You're not all there matey!?! They play some very good attacking and organized football. And they've taken it seriously for a couple of Seasons now.

Even without admitting you play, it's obvious that you are a young player, coming out with comments like that.

At any rate, next year (I think), this age level will be responsible for what division (A, B or C) a Club's U17's team plays in. If you still think that it will be a useless age group/division in that circumstance, then you may as well say the same for the all of the Junior levels from U12's up.

Yes i know what you mean mate , I also witnessed this first hand, the first time modbury and para hills played , modbury brought down the 17's players, they also did it the second time they played each other, but that is perfectly legal, within the rules of the game as long as they are the correct age it is condoned by most clubs within the F.F.S.A. para Hills did it the second game also because they had players sick or injured ( ironically still injured from the first time they played Modbury ) but don't worry too much you probably won't be playing next year anyway, will you ??

Every kid in the 16's league could play 17 league easy.

Teams like blue eagles, para, city, cumberland, panthers would give the 17a a decent go and any team that you think is crap from that league can play 17c's who anyone can play....so whats your point of them being crap?

And even from what ive heard, the 16's blue eagles beat their 17a team in a trial, so that asks a few questions.

There is a need for U16 - as mentioned by others - gives players who have not physically developed a chance to. Few years ago while most of us grew at much the same time, a good mate did not - U16 hadnt long been formed, he was disappointed but played in this league for a year while we all went into the U17 & U19. He accepted this, continuted to play, grew in that year and 3 years on is reserves / fringe first team player.

I bet if you ask around you will find many similar positive outcomes from playing in U16

I am not into Bagging at all i find these forums to be a handy tool of information at times..... i must say this thread is very dissapointing to read especially all involved in the 16 age group which i am NOT....but the fact of the matter is there are some kids who just cant make it into the 17s and fall into a 16 age group at least they are still playing our wonderful game...and are not lost to another sporting code or give up all together and sit on the lounge and play games all day!!!!!! Then i read the Quote above 17c's who anyone can play!!! I suggest you get out to a few of these games,,,, i have seen a few and i can assure you the Top 2 or 3 Teams could make there way into the 17bs or 17as easily .....This thread now has turned into bagging under 16s and under 17cs Very dissapointing PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

So are you saying that you could have played U17 this year (and chose not to) but your Modbury team mates aren't good enough to play U17. I was told (by someone from the Jets) that a lot of your 16's could have played for the U17's this year, but also chose not to.

The top 4 or 5 teams in the U16 NE league are very good teams with some excellent players (I cant comment on the SW league), but the lower teams also have some very good players (you could say this about every league in the JPL). You should know this as your side picked up a player from The Comets U16's a couple of days after Para knocked them out of the cup, and a month after Comets had knocked you out of the cup.

Finally. Bringing a couple of players down when required (due to injuries etc) is no big deal. This has happened against my team regularly for the past 4 seasons, and is certainly not confined to the U16 league.

A few FACTS black and white.

NO u17s played in the first match against Para Hills!
No one is IRONICALLY still injured from the first match played against Modbury.
Yes it is within the rules to play eligable players as long as they are the correct age.
Modbury u16s have only played TWO u17s all year for one game each due to injury.
Para hills played TWO quality u17s (DK and JR) and it had nothing to do with injurys.

The Para Hills u16s won on the day only because of these quality players and everyone who was there on the day knows that they are the only reason you did so and that includes the 2-3 sets of PARA HILLS parents who i talked to after the match.
How ironic that the u17s were knocked out of the cup on the weekend, maybe if you had more FAITH in your own players the u17s might have been fit for there own game.
Good luck for the rest of the season,no pressure now!!!

Facts !!! most of what you have just said is dribble.

The first time that we played you we ended up with a player with a broken leg which is well known knowledge, he still has not been to one training session since that game (fact! prove me wrong), DK and JR are quality players but so are all of the 17's. DK didnt come on until the second half and JR 5 mins towards the end of the first half. You seem to have all the answers so prove me wrong again on your previous statatement that they were not brought in to cover injury's, because another player who was sat on the bench is still recovering from a broken ankle and came out to his first training session about 2 weeks ago, AM has had a swollen ankle for the past 4 weeks, that is classed as an injury and one player was not in attendance because of personal reasons.

There were about 8 to 10 players at that game sat on the bench most of which were from the 15's who sat with their mates to watch the game.the match card would tell you who and how many players were there.

I think though you are forgetting that we beat you 2-0 the first time around and we had three of the official 16's squad missing that day also and yes we brought in two players from the under 15's. There are not many teams who will play with 11 or 12 in a squad when you can get players from another team within the club.

Here is the essence of this argument though, the modbury U16's think that there season is over and this is just sour grapes as far as I am concerned. However the fact remains that para hills have won nothing yet, there are still 7 games left to be played, against some quality teams. So all you boys in that 16's teams, who didn't make this year's selection for the para hills 16's or were dropped in previous years, as is the case with most of the modbury 16's stop whinging and concentrate on your own game.

How ironic that the u17s were knocked out of the cup on the weekend, maybe if you had more FAITH in your own players the u17s might have been fit for there own game.
Good luck for the rest of the season,no pressure now!!![/quote]

A few U16 facts, gowans49

Para Hills have only used U17 players once all season and that was in the Modbury game, due to injuries.
Para and Modbury were both in the same side of the JPL Cup draw.
Modbury were knocked out by Comets in the first round, but a month later you picked up one of Comets best players, so all was not lost.
Para Hills beat Comets in the next round, without our goalkeeper playing (a field player had to stand in) and one sub on the bench.
2 rounds later Para Hills are now in the Final of the Cup, without using any U15 or U17 players.

Cheers, we will see you at Hindmarsh Stadium.
