Gleeson 2 Iggies 2
At least that was the score - the ref abandoned the game deep in extra time (virtually no time left) after a scuffle broke out over a bad tackle. Playing in the game I'm not sure why the ref didn't just book the player, let the free kick be taken and then end the game. Instead he insisted on ending it there and then, even though the melee was over as quickly as it started.
Both sides can probably agree that there was no real malice or fighting done, just a few tempers flared and some argy-bargy.

Bodo, what did you think of the games? I think in the A's The Vipers showed a lot of initiative in all 5 goals.

I don't think it was as clear cut as the scoreline suggests. I think you did well for your first half goals and at 3-1 you looked comfortable but Burundi played you off the park in the second. Had they not missed the chances they had (your keeper did really well with the one-on-ones) it could have been very difficult. You got the fourth late on with their keeper caught in no mans land and the penalty a few seconds later but until then I thought Burundi might have levelled it.Lucas Leiva wrote:Bodø, what did you think of the games? For a second there I thought the referee was going to disallow the fourth one for offside before eventually giving it. He'd given several offsides throughout the game at both ends despite neither linesman giving them and the ones I was in line with he got wrong. He also added on nine minutes of stoppage time in the second half which I have no idea where it came from.
The reserves referee also made some strange decisions. Keeper catches ball, he tell him to wait, allows team to make substitution, then tells keeper to play on... wtf??? Twice he stopped play with the ball in the keepers hands and continued it from there.

I would tend to agree with you somewhat. Great goalkeeping kept us in the game at 3-2. It did feel like that 2nd half went for almost an hour! It did seem unusual to see some of the referees offside calls go against the linesmen, but I think in general he did a good job (judging by the fact no-one from either side debated his decisions).Bodø Glimt wrote:I don't think it was as clear cut as the scoreline suggests. It was good to have you out there Bodo, hope you enjoyed the lamb on the spit Judging by the league table we may see you again at the tail end of the season for hopefully the right to win the league!

Red Blue Eagles were down to 9 men I've been told, so a good result with that in mind. B's had a shocker though.Lucas Leiva wrote:Bodo, what did you think of the games? I think in the A's The Vipers showed a lot of initiative in all 5 goals.

Re: Results August 2nd
Yeah there were no real complaints from either side. I know one of the defenders in the reserves was adamant the first goal was offside but it wasn't even close. Some of those Burundi players are fast as hell. They also got caught out with so many lines on the park. I saw two hand balls because the player saw it cross the white line and not the yellow one.Lucas Leiva wrote:I would tend to agree with you somewhat. Great goalkeeping kept us in the game at 3-2. I didn't get to try the lamb. It wasn't ready when I went there at half time of the main game so I just had some chicken wings and a sausage.

Wow... unusual for a Tigers game to have no goals. Usually there's goals at both endsRob Lozza wrote:Murray Bridge United 0:0 Adelaide Tigers (Reserves 2:3)

Substitutions can only be made during a stoppage in play, and time is also supposed to be added at the Referee's discretion for them. (Or did the referee allow the subtitution to be made during play and then award a IFK against the GK for having possession of the ball for more than six seconds.)Bodø Glimt wrote:The reserves referee also made some strange decisions. Re: Results August 2nd
"Look at the flag, Ref!" Yeh...all well and good but point to note is that ARs' duties are to provide advice only (*) and it is the Referee's decision whether he/she decides to act on that advice. Clearly then, your Referee did not agree with the AR and that's ok.Lucas Leiva wrote:It did seem unusual to see some of the referees offside calls go against the linesmen, but I think in general he did a good job (judging by the fact no-one from either side debated his decisions).
(*) The scope of the AR duties is also subject to Referee's discretion, e.g. it may be limited to advising the Referee on corner kicks, goal kicks, throw-ins and off sides only and leaving everything else such as substitutions, penalty kicks, fouls and misconduct to the Referee. It is for this reason why it is important for Clubs to provide ARs asap and to to catch up with the Referee before the game to clarify these points.

Two goals not allowed - one from each team - and a Tiger sent off in what was the final minute of play. Nice drive there and back.Bodø Glimt wrote:Wow... unusual for a Tigers game to have no goals. Div 2
Flinders 0-1 Cove (reserves) .From what isaw of this Cove dominated the first 60 minutes of the game, a couple of goalmouth scrambles which flinders were lucky to survive, then for the last 30 flinders were mostly on top with the occasional break from cove, but it ended 1-0
Flinders 1-3 Cove, Such a dissapointing game for Flinders, gave away 3 rediculous goals, had heaps of chancesand just missed them all. Cove were one nill up within 15 seconds with an own goal and flinders had the kick off , We then had a one on one right after and hit it straight at the keeper. Even first half with Cove scoring after the keeper punched out a cross that went straight to one of coves players who neatly lobbed it back over on the volley.
I thought Flinders controlled most of the 2nd half with a heap of chances missed, Cove scored there third after a tackle out of the box caused the ball to spin towards the top corner, our keeper palmed it onto the cross bar trying to catch it, it bounced down and then in. We scored a good goal to make it 3-1 and then missed more chances.
