Fulham 4 - Pontian Eagles 0

Great game today - very solid all over the park and great to see sharpshooter Bubba banging in goals

Oh. Initially I had planned to go to Bosa v Florina and figured out I could fit your game as well if it didn't go to extra time, so I left after the regulation ninety minutes. Of what I did see, the first half was pretty even, but Fc Adelaide were the better team in the second half.

Had to giggle when the guy who had slapped a player in the face earlier was given a free kick some minutes later after having his shirt pulled and then made a song and dance about a yellow card. Yes, it was a foul, and you got your freekick... but whinge about a card... just be grateful you were still on the park!

Knights keeper pilled of a couple of good saves.

lol, that was me, but in context, he slapped me first, also I was annoyed that I had finally got away from the guy and then the referee blew the freekick, either play advantage or stop the play and book the player

All in all, I thought the referee was excellent - for the record he saw both "slaps" - technically 2 send offs but he thought it was amusing.

For the record I think the player in question was Lyndon - yes he is very much a First Team player - he signed after the First Team were out of the cup and is therefore eligible.

I felt we were lucky but thought hard - FC Adelaide were the better team and as Bodo said our keeper had some good saves

FC Adelaide were also very gratious in defeat so bit suprised by earlier comments
A little bitter when I got home last night Knight7. Excuse the negative comments. Well done to you guys and good luck in the cup.

yes unfortunately we (asteras) had to forfeit the game as 4 of our first team players are overseas as of this week and another 4 are injured leaving only 3 regular first team players available. no one likes to forfeit games but thought it would be the only logical thing to do instead of wasting ours and pontians time. was really looking forward to this game too and the bbq

we did well to reach the last 16 after our quarter final efforts last year just a shame it had to end this way

I too was looking forward to this greek barbie... i mean derby!! Couldn't you field at least a half strength side with the 3 remaining first team players?? or Were the Sezenias boys and Peter N still hung over from the Koukourlis concert?? :D Look at Grove beating the Vale, stranger things have happened as the Grove are teetering around the bottom of the 2nd division. I guess I was just disappointed after driving down there to watch the game only to find out it was cancelled. Anywayz, on the way home dropped past and watched the Farm knock off a very defensive Fulham outfit.

-FLORINA ADVANCE TO THE QUARTER FINALS-

Salisbury Florina travelled to Blackfriars Priory School to face Bosa who beat us in extra time in the 2005 Challenge Cup Final. It was to be a test for Florina as Bosa is a Division 1 Saturday team and up until this stage of the cup we had faced teams from lower divisions. A win against Bosa would see Florina through to the quarter finals while revenging our defeat in the 2005 final.

The game didn't go to plan in the first 15 minutes as Bosa were all over Florina and making us look second rate as we were second to the ball and continually being caught out wide and Bosa getting in behind our defence. Bosa were first to strike with a shot from outside the box and the Florina keeper mishandled the ball and spilled it into his own net, 1 - 0.

Florina looked frustrated as Bosa continued to attack the Florina defence while struggling to string two passes together to get any control of the game and could of easily been 4 -0 down if not for some bad misses from the Bosa forwards. It was Bosa again who added to the scoreboard with a nice run down the wing and a cross was put into the box nicely and pulled the keeper out of position and miss the clearance punch and to see the Bosa player rise high to head home, 2- 0. With about ten minutes to go in the first half the Florina keeper was awarded a yellow card from the referree and was substituted for reserve keeper Michael Hayes. The second seemed to wake Florina up and the supporters cheered them up to lift their game. The half was drawing to an end till in the death of injury time a cross was put in from the right hand side and Trevor Elliott out jumped his opposition and tucked a header in behind the left hand post. A much needed goal to give Florina any chance of winning the game.

Halftime 2- 1.

The second half Florina was a complete different side than the first half and came out all guns blazing and started to string together some good football and Bosa seemed to start running out of steam. It was Florina now troubling the Bosa defence with continual attacks and only a matter of minutes till they scored their second, which was put away by Lucky Paikos who struck the ball home nicely from around the penalty spot beating the defence and keeper, 2 - 2. Neil Childs and Shamus Marron much like last week took control of the midfield and were stretching the Bosa midfield. It was about half way through the second half when some good football from Florina put Neil Childs away down the right hand side of the pitch and got himself on a difficult angle, while most expected a cross from this position players and supporters witnessed an absolute cracker when Neil Childs rocketed a shot off to hit the far stanchion and rebound back out and put Florina in front, 2 - 3. Florina was in complete control now and had Bosa on the back foot as Florina was now putting continual pressure on the Bosa defence and seemed to dominate in the air from corners and set pieces. Florina were rewarded for their pressure and it was captain Paul Hoey who rose to get inside the box and scramble in the fourth goal and beat the defence and keeper, 2 - 4. Florina made their final substitutions for the game and were to get caught out as they recieved an injury to a player that put them to ten men for the final ten minutes. This brought Bosa alive and a sniff of a come back with some good passing and pressure when from the right hand side a good cross picked out a player in the box and was put into the back of the net to make it 3 - 4. Florina was now under pressure as Bosa hit full straps to take it to extra time and had a chance when their forward had the keeper to beat, but it was a fine save from reserve keeper Michael Hayes who charged the forward down and pulled off a fine save and leaving the Bosa player pondering. Florina grew anxious now and saw the referree signal for four minutes injury time and defended well for three minutes beating Bosa to anything that came near our box. With a minute to go the ball was cleared to the midfield and put through to Frank Marron who controlled the ball wasted time and took it to the right hand side and headed for the corner flag. Frank turned one player and put a cross to the top of the box where awaited an unmarked Trevor Elliott who hit a first time side footed volley, which cannoned in off the underside of the crossbar to put the game out of reach for Bosa, 3 - 5.

Fulltime 3 - 5.

Ingle Farm 1 - Fulham 0

Ingle Farm had the majority of the play with Fulham camped inside their own half for long periods, but defended well, Farm clearly on top, with Fulham reating only a couple of opportunities, with one good save by Greenwood, goal eventually came after a few blocked shots in the box, which was eventually headed in from close range. Gme play ed in good atmosphere, with the Fulham boys staying afterwards for a drink.

Bigpond, Beijing Olympics isnt until August, but with the dive and 10 rolls you'd definatley be a medal chance.

"RESERVE CUP"
Southern Knights
West Beach
Elizabeth Downs

If both Ingle Farm sides are drawn at home in the quarterfinals I'll more than likely being going to those.

Not sure who longbomb is, but tell me, your linesman for the first half... was that grouse'n'ice? Beach were difinately the better side on ths day. The Wanderers' keeper had a game he'd want to forget. No doubt conditions had a part to play but your keeper held on to most things he came your way. At 2-1 I thought Wanderers were going to make a game of it and then you got your third. I don't know how that went in. I didn't see why you were awarded the penalty to make it fourth (unless it was a push in the back in which case I was on the wrong side to have seen it). With the red card incident I think both should have been sent off but in the end it made no difference to the result.

Grouse n ice was playing on the right wing...

I thought both penalties were a bit soft and Nico's sending off was a little harsh! Wasn't really a dirty game ..there was a few late challenges but they were mainly down to the conditions rather than malice!

Right wing... I was running the line on that side in the second half. I've often wondered who he was. The second penalty was a bit soft. Can't comment on the first because I didn't see anything bar a cross go in and it get headed out. I agree Nico's sending off was harsh. From the banter from your bench I put two and two together and worked out who soulcrew was.

Lol, "one of the worst reserve teams, but no offence!" - that's cool though, we have been really shocking against you guys twice this year but week after the first game we beat Grove and of course on Saturday we beat FC Adelaide. If you study our "cup run" though - we beat (just Murray Bridge away) who aren't any World beaters, then we won on forfeit v Burundi before winning (just again!) on Saturday - so no, were not playing First Team or Cup Tied players - the combined age of our back 4 on Saturday was about 170 years old!

Only one of the remaining 16 teams in the cup is from Saturday.

And after looking at Sturt Marion's cup draw, they haven't actually played a Sunday team yet.

I guess, at least for this season anyway, it answers the question of which day is better.

Good luck to the boys from Sturt Marion, because you are now carrying the Saturday leagues hopes on your shoulders.

Ah Bodo. Didn't know it was you running the line or I would have said hello. Yeah I was over on the side of the pitch where you were operating.

You must have done a good job since I can't remember shouting at you during the game. :D

I only had one offside to call in the whole game and that was on the far side, plus he was off by at least two metres and no one complained about it. Did you score the fifth goal?
Nope. But you can't blame me for being sceptical. Given that before the game the ref recognised one of your ring-in's, asked for his card and you couldn't produce it.
im not invovled at Southern Knights ... so i dont know where the you cant produce it comes from

its funny that if u lose a reserves cup game the other team is always playing ineligable players....

maybe its vent up frustration from losing a game and trying to find an excuse for it ...
