Share your thoughts on what the point of this forum is.

Post by Azzurri80 »

I am only new to this forum and a little confused given recent events so I ask any of you to fill me in on what the point of this forum is. Is it to discuss the tough issues facing clubs? Is it to throw some friendly (or not so friendly) banter around? Is it purely to view results? I don't know so I would appreciate all your thoughts, cause there seems to be double standards regarding who can discuss what and what is regarded as going too far.

Just for the record my original take on things was that this was a forum designed for people to voice 'THEIR OPINIONS' on anything football. Recent events lead me to believe otherwise.

For boredom relief, to communicate, to brag, to stir, to advertise, to question, to report amongst other things.
Maybe we should list players that we think shouldn't be playing or list all their faults...???
Referees are out there on their own, they have one pair of eyes, one set of ears...
Having refereed for three years in a past life I know you cannot make everone happy in a game of football...

We are lucky to have the forum. No, you cannot post whatever you want. Yes, things can (and have) got back to people when negative comments have been made. Yes, legal action can (and has) been taken in the past. No, I will not elaborate ;)

This forum is far less controlled than many others (which is a good thing) however it does rightfully draw the line when things start to get to personal. It seems to me that you don't like it when you don't get your own way - to be honest I'm starting to understand why the referee you questioned in other posts might go against your club!

Yes ok ROBBO, what a great reply, Azzurri80 has ruined the whole forum.

Why??
because he posted a topic which was deleted?
or because he has put forward very valid arguments to express his discontent of the fact?

I don't know who this Azzurri80 guy is, and I don't agree with everything he writes, but his posts are one of the best pieces of writing i have ever read on this forum.
All his arguments and opinions are expressed in an extremely meticulous, thorough and clear manner.
(and I am certain that many others will agree with me)

Far from the standard of your childish replies and contributions to the forum (as is clearly demonstrated in your reply above).
Even if you had half the intellectual ability, or writing ability of Azzurri80, I'm sure you would have been able to come up with a better reply than that absolute nonsense.

By the way, "crybaby" is two seperate words. :)

PS. good luck with your endeavours Azzurri80 and keep up the great posts !

Post what you want to post just don't publicly name people/refs/players etc, etc. You might be able to imply something about a certain person/ref/player but not publicly name them or humiliate them. As frustrating as that may be, it's what seems to be one of the don't do's on this forum.

Medallion, weren't you the one who privately messaged me and asked for the referee's name, and then proceeded to tell me your club had a similar problem with this guy on more then one occassion?

C'mon mate! I'm not having a go at you I'm simply stating the fact that it was obviously a subject of interest and concern otherwise you wouldn't have messaged me and confirmed that my club wasn't the only one having problems. That was the whole point of my original post! to give everyone who maybe affected the chance to voice their concerns. Why do it privately when we can have wholesom deep debates on a public forum?

absolute crap!!!!

what can you possibly achieve by naming the ref on a forum?????

if its a legitimate complaint, make contact with your governing body. even then, experience has taught me that there are 2 sides to every story and that the referees are protected for 2 reasons;

1 - theres a shortage
2 - their position of authority demands players and club officials respect his/her decision otherwise there is no game

Amateur League
This forum is for the discussion of amateur league football.

There's is your definitive answer. now, your team is not in the amateur league is it. Please take this to the collegiate league forum, that's if anyone bothers with having one for such a pointless non entity league.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:

Colossus: One House

Costa: One Lunch

Oh and add in

Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

It was me, but like i've posted before. Explain your points on here without naming anyone. I'm pretty sure the club I spoke to you about have written a letter to the amateur league and since had a response with a positive outcome. refrences were made to a certain referees appearance on the forum but not his name. Give us a scenario or exactly what happened in the game and let the forumites have the opportunity to have their opinions.

Hawkesy, You ask what the point of the collegiate league is? What a stupid question! The same point as any amateur league. I have played in both leagues and I don't see much difference between the two. Everybody plays to win. If you want to make a stupid comment like that and disrespect all the players playing in the collegiate league (including some ex-premier league players), why not elaberate and tell us the prestigious difference between the two. My opinion is amateurs is amateurs! so get off your high horse champ!

Mega Bonus, you say there's two sides to every story yet you're happy to call mine absolute crap when you don't know either story, ?? Before you jump into a debate a day late why not try reading all of the posts from the two topics. Consider this; Before the game the referee came into our change rooms and said if any of us talk to him we'll be red carded. Our team got 3 red cards for asking the ref a question. The other team were shouting expletives at him and not so much as getting a talking to. The yellow card count for the game was us 7 opposition 0. Other team scores in the 80th minute to go 2-1 up and the ref calls the game off without giving either team a reason. Our team knocked out of the cup. Does this seem resonable to you?

This type of incident happened to us in two games with the same ref, the only difference being one was a cup game and the other wasn't. On top of this you should know that our relationship with every other ref is great and we always offer them and have a beer with them after the game. Now the point of my post was to see if anyone else in the football world had a similar problem with this ref and without naming him it would have been pretty hard for people to know who I was talking about. Medallion proved this theory when he told me his team had also experienced these problems but only after I told him the ref's name, otherwise how would he be able to know.

Now Mega Bonus I know it would be easy for you to make some smart arse comment to me that you don't care, and you know what that's fine, but if I could ask you one question and get a honest response from you it would be this;

Put yourself in our shoes and tell me would you feel the same way? Or would you be happy to get this ref again in a season deciding match?

Now I may be new to this forum but is it a coincidence that Juve11 and Azzuri80 "2 guys that don't know each other" :D are sticking up for each other? Can't see what they may have in common to have a similar opinion :clown:

4-4-2, why the need to repeat yourself? Or have you got a stutter?

Anyway, get your facts right champ Juve 11 was sticking up for me, not the other way around, and this is the first time I have heard from him. As for the similarities, care to elaborate? If you're drawing parallel's due to the ethnic origin of the two names let me lay those thoughts to rest.

I AM NAPOLI BORN AND RAISED SO I COULDN'T CARE LESS WHAT JUVE 11 HAS TO SAY!

Azzuri80.... The longer this post goes on, the deeper your hole is getting mate.
Your continued insistence on this topic looks like you just won't give up until you can amass your lynch mob.
Knight7 alluded to this...."It seems to me that you don't like it when you don't get your own way - to be honest I'm starting to understand why the referee you questioned in other posts might go against your club!"
You mentioned you had this referee twice in a short period and that on the second occassion, he had to resort (allegedly) to some very drastic measures with your club even before the first whistle is blown. I would sure like to know why any referee would have to resort to that!!! There are two sides to any story.
ANYWAY.....
Is your club aware of your persistent actions? Are you an official of the club? Whether you are or not, you are putting your club on to dangerous ground in this forum. And I can only imagine what some referees might be making of all this .... I think you'll find less referees wanting to have a beer with you mate.

seems pretty obvious

Was the question: "What the f*** are you doing you ****?"

as you can see, i highlighted what you said was your intention for naming a ref on the forum - that is 'what is absolute crap'... im not judging what happened at the game. it had nothing to do with giving others a chance to 'voice their concerns'.

mate... everyone on here can give you hard luck stories about 'bad/biased/incompetant referees', just get on wih playing........... or retire and pick up a whistle and do a 'better' job....

Azzuri i respect your resilience in the face of adversity pal..... its all too easy to say 'oh ok guys my bad' and move along but seeing as everyone is having their say on the matter it appears to have been a worthy topic. Yes you are being crucified for your original post which i didnt see by the way. In answer to the thread topic... this forum is for the vista and gully boys to hang curly wurlies on each other and the jets and wanderers to challenge for the spelling bee title(no offence lads it makes some interesting reading) and for king BODO's invitation to games listings(by the way Bodo - MU Lions-Brahma next week please 8) ..... then there was a post about the gully coach who left and the things which were said about him were not exactly flattering but his name wasnt mentioned so nobody knows who he is(sarcasm for those who didnt pick it up) and to finish up there were some lads who left PHE when the going was tough and went to another club and again no names where mentioned and they remained anonymous(yes sarcasm time)!!! but dang! you coppin it worse than christ for bringing christianity to the world for naming a ref(by the way i presume he is still living yeah)...buddy get used to it...this is communism and you must obey

p.s we all have the right to reply...... or not...and everyones opinion matters :D :D

Handy_man, if you ever want to run for Mayor I'd be honoured to lead your campaign. The wisdom never ends. Besides the few pointless and shall we say 'hard to read comments' (that's a reference to some of the terrible grammer from some of you), I've actually enjoyed the discussions I've had. Whether most of these guys did it knowingly or by accident amongst their insults, they have actually helped me achieve my objective which was to have a meaningful debate on the topic at hand.

As for the crucifying, don't worry I'm a big boy who can take it as I'm sure the ref in question would have been able to deal with the comments I made. I actually enjoy answering every comment and seeing some of these guys get all worked up. For those of you who have taken the opportunity to make some valid points (whether for or against me) on the matter my hat goes off to you. Keep up the good work.

That's what this forum should be all about!

The SAASL website has this listed at Brahma Lodge's ground in the A's and listed as last weekend in the B's. But you've opened my eyes to something I temporarily forgot... at this stage of the cup some of the lower divisions have league matches scheduled as was the case last week. I'd just been looking at the cup ties. Time to check out the league fixtures too. I prefer to watch the reserves as well, but I think this weekend I'll be observing a cup match somewhere.

Im dissapointed Bodo.....i gave you all the clues and you missed them all....first of all i said 'next week' meaning the weekend after the cupround as that would be this week(thats how i see it anyways).....and then i deliberately put the away team's name first as i know how much you love correcting people on that   so if you wanna see 'hard' football then this is the one if the first round is anything to go by.....be there or be square...adieu

To me next week means the same, but as the week starts on sunday that would be this coming sunday. Had it been a saturday tie...
The reserves fixture list does say july 13th however (no doubt a misprint). In that case I haven't looked at the following weekend just yet. I shall keep you posted.
