Liverpool FC season 08/09

Re: Liverpool FC season 08/09
I want to see a winger and forward signed. I would love to get villa but i don't see him coming as he is too expensive but Keane would be a good signing and silva would be a great signing if we could get him. If we could get them 2 or players of the same quality, I think we would a side good enough to win the league

Re: Liverpool FC season 08/09
if seems that we won't need to try and buy barry as an Alonso move to juve seems to be ruled out
Satisfied Juve Rule Out Alonso
The chances of seeing Xabi Alonso in a Bianconeri jersey have dropped dramatically after Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli confirmed that the club's summer spending is over.
Cobolli Gigli's comments come a day after Juve manager Claudio Ranieri announced that Christian Poulsen would be their last addition ahead of next season.
The fact that the Dane plays the same position as long-term Juve target Alonso combined with the club's announcement means that if the Spaniard is to leave Liverpool in the summer it almost certainly won't be for Turin.
"We will not make any other buys. We have opted for the Dane because we have a very strong attack and needed a wall in the midfield," the Juve chief told local reporters.
"Everyone knows that the transfer market ends on August 31," but if I have to be honest, unless something extraordinary happens, we can say that we have concluded our transfer activity.
"I am convinced that we have made a good choice by acquiring Christian Poulsen," he added.
"This signing is not a bet made by (Claudio) Ranieri but rather a tactical decision taken by Juventus, knowing that a powerful attack can only be supported by a strong midfield."
Gigli's comments also have a direct impact on the future of Inter midfielder Dejan Stankovic, who was all set to join Juventus last month only for the fans to effectively veto the deal through an online protest which the club simply could not ignore.

I hear if pool can sell Alonso they will get Barry and bid for Keane. They just need the 10 million to set the deal off.

i would like to see lucas play more often, hes really good and young and alonso hasn't played well lately. my formation would go like this:Gerrard_of_SA wrote:Liverpools starting line up (hopefully):

we need torres to have far more support around him..even if we dont get silva and get keane, we can use him in the role right behind torres as with babel. I think thats a championship winning team we just need to sign a quality winger

Re: Liverpool FC season 08/09
so you can honestly say that the team above isn't capable of winning the league? the past years i have been hoping to win the league but i knew we had to many gaps to fill..if we can pull off a good winger, we have the squad to win the title and just have to get the coaching right..keep the current squad andronaldo07 wrote:and i think that's what liverpool fans saying every season before the season start ...totsreds08 wrote:i would like to see lucas play more often, hes really good and young and alonso hasn't played well lately. my formation would go like this:Gerrard_of_SA wrote:Liverpools starting line up (hopefully):

Re: Liverpool FC season 08/09
of course the team abve r capable to win the title ..
but how funny / boring is it that the liverpool fans said the same thing again and again every season ...
i still remember u poo fans saying : If we r able to get a good finisher, we are then capable to win the title blah blah ... then u got torres, who score the goal for fun week in and week out .. but still u r no where near the title winner (ManUtd) ..

Re: Liverpool FC season 08/09
2-1 win overnight, lucas and andriy the scorers, the warlock with a great lob
i don't think we'll sign anyone decent at the pointy end of the park
no silva, no keane, no villa, no anyone of note.
hyypia will hardly get a kick this season. i hope we don't play carra at fullback just so he gets a game, as i think agger + skrtel are our two best central defenders.

Re: Liverpool FC season 08/09
good win...lucas should be a starter this season imo..and if we want to sign somebody, rafa better hurry up. who do you think will play centre back..carragher, agger and skrtel are all good enough to fit the position and now that we got two decent full backs..i can't see rafa putting caragher out there. it will be interesting to see who plays in defencetobes wrote:2-1 win overnight, lucas and andriy the scorers, the warlock with a great lob

He looks class to me. He has the ability to pull off the killer ball...something that Alonso hasn't done for a while now, and something that Masch isn't meant to do. I would also like to see Lucas played before Alonso..but I can't see it happening.
I'm keepin my fingers crossed that Arsenal will buy him. We'd get a good price and could raise some money so we can finally make a high profile transfer.
Re: Liverpool FC season 08/09
Oh and I also believe it'll be Carragher + Agger for the start of the season, with the Skrtel + Agger combo getting more and more experience as the season progresses.totsreds08 wrote:good win...lucas should be a starter this season imo..and if we want to sign somebody, rafa better hurry up. who do you think will play centre back..carragher, agger and skrtel are all good enough to fit the position and now that we got two decent full backs..i can't see rafa putting caragher out there. it will be interesting to see who plays in defencetobes wrote:2-1 win overnight, lucas and andriy the scorers, the warlock with a great lob

Skrtel+Agger have the potential to become the greatest CB pairing in the Premier League.

English Giants Set To Snap Up Giovinco?
There are reports that have just emerged in England and Italy over the past few hours that suggest Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all hoping to take advantage of Sebastian Giovinco’s contract dispute with Juventus.
Giovinco is one of the most exciting prospects to have come out of Italy in recent years, and he is being tipped by many experts to be a superstar of the very near future.
The 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Empoli, is owned by Juventus and is due to be part of their first team squad for the coming season.
However, a few problems have begun to emerge between player and club regarding a new contract. Giovinco is demanding an improved deal, but so far transfer director Alessio Secco is only willing to pay the attacking midfielder €500,000 extra per year.
Some statements, from yesterday, attributed to Giovinco’s agent Claudio Pasqualin appeared to suggest that he was confident that a new deal would be signed soon.
However reports emerging in the last few hours suggest that Giovinco is far from happy with Secco’s offer, and as a result Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all ready to take advantage and bring the young prodigy to the Premiership.
Such news, if confirmed, would surely horrify Juve fans, who several weeks ago launched a campaign to keep Giovinco, following reports that Secco was considering offloading him to Palermo.
