pity about the reserves game. WORST example of refereeing i have seen in a LONG time. Needed to take off the blue and white glasses and get some prescription ones - may have gotten a few decisions right then.M Andrea wrote:Florina vs Downs

Great game by the boys today. not one bystander. Downs fought on valiantley but we just couldn't do anything wrong.
Trev got the first followed by seamus the second, could have been three if i didn't miss last five of first half. Reevesy had a chance but keeper saved well. Other than that i would say Flroina dominated the first half. 2 - 0 half time
Second half started the same as the first, Florina dominating and missing several chances. Downs pulled one back with 15 to go and had a good spell for about 15 min. as Downs pressing foe equaliser, left massive wholes in defence and Florina got their third thru Big Franky Marron. Both Brothers scoring today.
Bad luck to the downs, as they have been the best for two seasons now, and should be happy with what they have achieved, and out of respect for them and Mottsy i won't be saying anything else thanx for coming in to changerooms and having a chat. Great bunch of blokes and i think we have that mutual respect.
Good luck for the rest of the season boys and may u take points of the Vale and Farm for us.

Well that says it all for me even without seeing the game.... first what appears to be a threat in a public forum and then the famous name calling.... Megabonus congratulations for remaining objective....Klinsmann wrote:Tough, yeh, scared...gypsy!MegaBonus wrote:well lets see if you can scrape away from the relegation zone!!!!!!!!!!!!Klinsmann
Not sooking. We don't sook. We get even...and a bit more. No one was sent off anyways...and Raptors scraped away with a point...

Great result from the boys - hitting some form at the right time. Could be an interesting month if we keep up the intensity and a result or two goes our way.alm01 wrote:
-GREAT DAY OUT FOR FLORINA, 3 WINS AGAINST THE DOWNS-
Salisbury Florina returned to Underdown Park to face last years back to back league champions Elizabeth Downs. It was to be a huge game for Florina as Elizabeth Vale played Ingle Farm and Para Hills West played Parafield Gardens. A win against The Downs would see Florina stretch their lead six points over fifth and sixth and if results fell our way, would gain points on the league leaders.
It was a great game today by the lads as there was not one bystander and the Downs had to fight valiantley to hold of Florina as they had one of those games where they couldn't do much wrong but concede one goal. Florina had control for the majority of the first 25 minutes and it was one pumped Trevor Elliott who found the back of the net to put his team ahead, 1 - 0.
Florina looked to push for a futher goal as they were stretching the downs midfield and were winning the majority of the balls and continued to control the game keeping the Downs camped in their back half. It was Shamus Marron who with a brilliant run down the wing cut inside the box and slotted home goal of the day with a well taken shot to beat the keeper to make it 2- 0. Tony Reeves had a chance to pull back the lead but was denied with a fine save from the Florina keeper later in the half. Florina from there ran out the half in strong form being the more dominent team and could of been futher in front but missed some clear cut chances.
Halftime 2- 0.
The second half Florina were well aware of the Downs fighting heart and had to be on their toes not to let them back into the game. The game stepped up a gear with Downs pushing for the 2 goals they needed and Florina trying to put the game out of touch by scoring that third goal to kill off any chance of Downs making a come back. Neil Childs and Shamus Marron took control of the midfield and were the most dominent players on the park in the second half. It was about with 15 minutes to go when Florina was pushing for that third goal that they were caught out on the counter attack and the ball was pushed long and Tony Reeves was one on one with the keeper to put away a well taken goal to make it 2 - 1. The game stepped up a third gear now and became 15 minutes of end to end excitement as Downs now had a sniff of an equaliser and the Downs crowd grew in voice helping them get back into the game. Downs pushing for the equaliser though showed a few cracks in defence as they were getting stretched when Florina would hit them on the counter with quick passing through the midfield. It was then when Shamus Marron on the counter, attacked the Downs defence with one player to beat and squared it to substitute Frank Marron who cut into the box and slotted it past the Downs keeper to put the game out of reach with minutes to play, 3 - 1.
Fulltime 3 - 1.

There keeper should have been sent off, the ref was wrong that's life the game goes on.Forza Roma wrote:I was at the Farm game today... people do over state things..... Vale keeper should definitely been sent off when he came out the area and handled the ball in front of the forward running Rutter... How the ref can give a free for handball but only book the last man(keeper) is beyond me.... From there the keeper made one terrific save down low to his left when score still 0-0 then ordinary penalty was easily saved to his right when 2-0 to Vale.....Vale were better side and deserved to win. Farm should of had another penalty late on and another Vale player should have been sent off as last man.....Farm have no excuses though, beaten by a side who just showed pure desparation.... and what a way for Ainsworth to respect the passing of his old man, with a great 20 yard goal that Greenwood had no chance with....
The Farm has no excuses, very tight game with both teams playing good football. Not sure if the Vale were the better side as I thought it was hard to split the two teams on the day, I do agree the Vale just wanted the win more and seemed more desperate at times. The Vale scored two great goals and the red card not given to the the keeper where the differences on the day. Condolences to the players who's father passed away during the week, good gesture by both clubs to have a minute silence in all games for him. He scored a cracking third goal and I am sure his father was watching over with big smile on his face when that went in... well done.
You can only do with what you have on the park on the day and what the Farm had was well below par. Just doesn't seem like there is that desperation at times, seems to be the same problem for the last few weeks. Hopefully it can be addressed this week and rectified.
Going to be an up hill battle from this point, some big games for the Farm coming up but it is not over till the fat lady sings and if I cast my eye back to when we won Div 2 on the last day of the season two years ago, then anything can happen. I just hope lightning strikes twice.
Well done to the Vale, thanks for sticking round for a drink. I would say all the best for the season but I can't, we need you too loose

Yep...
We put an end to Salisbury Inter's winning streak!
Even the league questioned the results when phoned through.
To all those naysayers in the tipping thread -
All the boys and supporters are wrapped with the result that takes us to fourth on the ladder.
Pumas started the game minus 5 usual starters, and a bench of fatigued B's players (having played one of our most consistent games all year against the ressies top team).
Game turned borderline intense/ nasty in the last ten minutes, with ref keeping control by paying any challenge that was dubious in nature.

Re: Results Sunday 13/7/08
look croatia played very well - especially in the last 10 of the 2nd half. but the point trying to be made is this: Throughout the entire match there were incidents that most ref's would have given straight red cards for. The idea of giving a red card is to punish the team who is not following the laws of the game. Punching someone in the side is against the laws. The referee saw the entire incident and should have sent that donkey off straight away. instead he gives him a yellow and says "dont throw any more punches" and then says to the Raptors player who got punched "if you retaliated i would have given you a red card!" !!!!!
Terrible referring in anybodys books.
Endless 2 footed challenges on me. Only a couple yellows handed out. Every time i beat someone with the ball at my feet they would just trip me up. No warning from the ref, barely any cards, just a free kick. so they kept doing it time and time again. preventing countless chances. getting a free chance to get 11 men behind the ball when we had attacking breaks.
Disappointing that the referee was so scared to punish a team that was clearly playing dirty and with malice, whilst taking advantage of him.

Disgraceful that the ref gave the penalty that won it for Florina and didn't give a more obvious one to the Downs in the first half - I don't think the Downs boys were bothered by the penalty decision just the inconsistency of not giving a more blatant one to the away side earlier. May be worth sending him on a course.........msbetterthanyou wrote:pity about the reserves game. WORST example of refereeing i have seen in a LONG time. I was at the game yesterday - and personally I thought both sides were poor, and the ref too. After seeing the sitters Croatia missed in the last 15 minutes it's easy to see why they will probably go down.sacred_june (GrooveChild) wrote:look croatia played very well - especially in the last 10 of the 2nd half. but the point trying to be made is this: Throughout the entire match there were incidents that most ref's would have given straight red cards for. I didn't think it was that dirty a game...hard yes, but as someone posted earlier not once do I recall a trainer having to come on the ground or anyone going off injured. As for the off the ball incidents I saw a few of them and all I can say is Raptor players give as good as they get - only difference is Croatia's players don't go down screaming as if gunned down by a sniper trying to get the opposition player sent off. If you niggle your opponent off the ball ya gotta expect to get some back.
As for the ref, the number of hanballs he let go yesterday was ridiculous. You wanna talk about send offs and red cards how about the handball on the line to stop a certain Croatia goal - penalty and red card every time but yesterday it was play on. Raptors also should have had a penalty/foul (not sure if he was in the penalty area) 2 mins later, I suppose he never gave it to "square the ledger" so to speak. If I was ref I probably would have issued a few more yellows yesterday, but I guess everyone has their own opinion. At the end of the day I don't think he did either side any favours.
There was plenty of banter...nothing out of the ordinary though.

wasn't a handball. i had a clear view of the shot and it hit the player in the side/back region. As for the clear foul inside the box 2 minutes later, the ref is harldy 'squaring the ledger.' it was a foul in the box and should have been given a penalty!Hosovac wrote: As for the ref, the number of hanballs he let go yesterday was ridiculous. if you dont think the match was particularly good or well player, perhaps that's because Raptors were trying to play good football but were continuously stopped by unprofessional fouls and hacks. But i did think Croatia played some nice 1 touch football in parts of the game. it's a real shame that such a talented and skillful side resort to dirty tactics when defending.

Westies 2 Gardens 0
Another crunch game at the West and another hard fought win. First half saw Gardens take the game right up to us creating a few headaches at the back early on with the stiff breeze. Our back four worked their backsides off once again (thanks boys!) after letting three or four ball to hand or hand to ball??? decisions go at both ends we were awarded a free just outside the box which was thumped in by almost first gamer Micky Harris for a one nil half time lead. Second half I thought we were on top and looked the more likely to score. About 15 mins in one of the Gardens strikers decided my body looked like a soccer ball and tried to put me in the net from the touchline and received an early bath. After that the Gardens boys played like a beaten team and on a swift attack we netted the second with a run down the wing and cross for a neat finish by Russ Harris. We had a player sent off late after he reacted to being unceremoniously dumped on his head in a poor challenge with a bit of a shove. We now look forward to a week off to rest and recuperate so hopefully we can challenge for all the chocolates come end of season. I thought our best was probably the old boy Rob Spiby who marshalled a very makeshift and big hearted back four brilliantly. Well done lads.

Farm 1 - 3 Vale
Well what a day on the hill !!! In windy conditions a hard fought game was played out with some exceptional passages of play. The first half was fairly even but I reckon we edge the Farm over the first 45 as we hit the crossbar twice (Paul DeCelis & Chris Nicholls) although our keeper made a great low save to stop a bullet shot late in the half.
The second half we came out and took the game to the Farm and were rewarded with a poachers goal from 3 yards (it was a deft touch though ). Shortly after Paul Decelis belted one in from about 25-30 yards to make it 2-0 to the Vale.
The Farm then took the attack to us and were rewarded a Penalty (still not sure about this one, there was loud scream and a few players on the ground but i didn't see what took place) anyway Kokot made a great save to keep it 2-0. Within a few minutes Farm got another penalty (This was a definate, player brought down) no mistake from Farm this time and and the score was 2-1.
The game went from end -to end from here with Farm Pushing with Attacks and Vale trying to catch them on counter attack. Eric Ainsworth got hold of the ball and twisted 2 players in and out before smacking at 25 yarder beyond Greenwood, a well deserved goal in many ways!!
Overall I rekon we were the better team on the day and deserved the 3 points, we had no passengers in our team but we know that the Farm will bounce back from the last 2 weeks and will be hunting us and Westies down.
Cheers to the Farm for providing a good feed after the game and acknowledging us in the club.
A lot was riding on the game in stakes of the league but still a long way to go, time to turn off from the league and put our attention to our Cup game against the Grove.

At the end of it all there will still be Football !!

Yes it is the same brothers. They've been at Westies for a few years now 4 maybe???
Not only are they great players but great off the park too. Russ is currently captain and having a belter of a year while Micky is struggling to get rid of an ankle problem and has missed lots of football which has hurt us.

Seaford 2 Simba of Congo 5
Cant ever remember playing a team so quick. You know youre in trouble when their slowest player is quicker than your fastest.
Well done to the reserves, won 4-0 Simbas first loss.

I thought it was them. 4 years hay, thought they would both be playing federation still. If they are both great of the park then you have yourselves 2 crackers I reckon cos they are both quality players by what I remember. Good to hear they are both playing well but it's a shame about Micky's injury. They wouldn't be too old though would they?redsfan08 wrote:Ronnie

youre a knob!!!!
you still dont get it. i dont think anyone has complained about the game being 'hard'. the issue is the 'behind the play' incidents and the intentional 2 footed tackles desinged to injure. people have to go to work and have families to support. you cant if youre home recovering from major injuries.
ive posted the official match report from the club website - theres no whinging nor any complaints, so get over it!!!!!!!

Round Twelve13.07.08
ISC Raptors vs Croatia
Raptors Park
The Raptors A's had to settle for a draw against a much improved Croatian outfit at Raptors park on Sunday. Croatia who had handed Fulham their first loss of the season last week were much better value than last place on the division two table that they currently occupy. The opening exchanges saw both sides try and get the upper hand in the midfield with Zan Papacharissiou and Stephen Boffa both prominent for the Raptors. They broke the deadlock at the midway point of the half when a long pass upfield by John Tselekidis was centered nicely by Tim Theori into the path of left winger Joseph Di Giacomi. Di Giacomi reached the ball before the Croatian keeper and nodded home into an unguarded net for the first goal of the game. Croatia didn't take long to hit back and were on level terms ten minutes later when an inswinging corner from the left was glanced nicely at the front post passed keeper Adrian Drosd. The Raptors next best chance of the half fell to leading goal scorer Ben Matthews who after doing well in getting past a Croatian defender fired his shot wide of goal to end the half.
The second half saw the game played out to the same tempo as both sides looked to attack and gain maximum points from this encounter. Defender Mark Paneras (knee) made way for Strato Paronis at the interval but the formation remained the same. Wide midfielders Di Giacomi and Theo Kouzapa were finding space out wide but were both unable to deliver telling crosses to test the Croatia defence. The Raptors had the greater share of possession for the beginning of the half and were rewarded for their pressure when A Di Giacomi corner fell at the feet of Paronis who finished with the poise of a striker with his left foot from close range. Again the lead lasted only a few minutes when Croatia made the most of a Raptors defensive lapse. The ball was only partially cleared out of defence when Croatia broke forward quickly and their striker found space on the back post to fire past Drosd and level the game up again. Coach Sfyrios then brought on Cantone and Sotiropoulos for Tony Tantis and Kouzapa in an attempt to grab a late winner. But it was the Croatians who finished the stronger and may well have snatched the game late if it wasn't for some wasteful finishing.
