Let's ban the "Zigger Zagger"
Hi folks - I am from Southern Breakers and new to these posts, but thought I would bring up a new topic.
Having been on the receiving end of numerous defeats over the years, my ears and I are keen to lead a "Coalition of the Willing" to ban the Zigger Zagger victory song in all SAASL games. Is there nothing more sad than to get around after a win and belt out such a terrible rant? We have Eurovision, the ARIAs etc to draw on - surely some clubs can get their collective intelligence together and create a song worthy of being belted out after a win (if at all). What do you think?
What clubs have decent victory lyrics (moderators get ready... ) that you have heard over the years?

Most clubs do have there won song but also do the zigger zagga as well. I know at vista we have our "Glory glory Modbury Vista" song then after that the zigger zagga. I dont think there is anything wrong with it.

Re: Let's ban the "Zigger Zagger"
i'd ban it just for being a chelsea song, could be worse though, ours is based on a man u song - the 'pride of all europe'.

You guys have never really had a reason to like it...... lets be honest, you have won about ten games in the ten year existance of your club? Sure beats your team song on your website.Breakers17 wrote:Hi folks - I am from Southern Breakers and new to these posts, but thought I would bring up a new topic.

I didn't know either of those. I've only heard Adelaide Villa sing the zigga zagga song but as a rule I don't pay attention to the songs after the game. At Shamrock Rovers we used to sing the Celtic "It's a grand ol' club to play for..."Hawkesy wrote:but I bet 99% of man u fans over here woulndn't know it was originally a man ure song, the same with chelsea fans and zigger zagger.robinfriday10 wrote:give me zigga zagga over some crappy rag song hawkesy

Re: Let's ban the "Zigger Zagger"
We only did it at my second stint with the club and my initial thoughts was it was a bit strange to sing a song at all. Before it was a rush to be first to get a hot shower. In between both stints I played in Japan where it was normal to greet and thank opposition fans regardless of the result. That took some getting used to... do that in Europe and you'be accused of trying to incite the crowd.Monkey Boy wrote:We dont sing any song when we win. Its a bit weird but im getting used to it. Yeah Govilla, you're right. We (The Breakers) have had about as many wins in our 10 years as you guys have had home grounds. Tell me, where will you guys play next year. Perhaps we could start a thread on it. If you do decide to move (again) here's a tip for next year, try to find a ground with some grass on it.Govilla wrote:You guys have never really had a reason to like it...... lets be honest, you have won about ten games in the ten year existance of your club? If it had grass we would have won 10-0 so hopefully there's plenty on yours come Rd22.The Toffees wrote:Yeah Govilla, you're right. good luck trying to ban the zigger zagger.. i think its good.. simple but effective
Re: Let's ban the "Zigger Zagger"
we have also won as many trophies as we have had home grounds, did you come in and see them???
Re: Let's ban the "Zigger Zagger"
I think the Wanderers song is one of the best i've received. Different and not offensive.
Was great after we won the league at home last year and belted a great "Elvis live in concert" version. through the woofers.
Tazo came in for a beer, commented on our good choice in music and was a good sport. It was good to see.
Don't ban anything, let it go and be graceful in victory.
Only slightly off the topic, the Iggies "Tractor" song they sing when we play them is funny too.

Is that "Suspiscious Minds." or "In The Ghetto" ??Ace16 wrote:I think the Wanderers song is one of the best i've received. Different and not offensive.

Re: Let's ban the "Zigger Zagger"
I don't really know what's been said already past the few posts but I'll put my thoughts in. I've only ever sung 'zigger zagger' this year, as my previous club didn't sing anything when we won and when I was young I played aussie rules before I grew to love the best and true code of football in the world. That being said belting out 'zigger zagger' with the lads can be very satisfying after a particularly hard earned win. On the other hand though I feel this guy's pain in hearing it from EVERY GOD DAMNED CLUB.
I wouldn't mind seeing some originality. It would be refreshing if everyone did something different and had there own song. Can you imagine if everyone sung the same shit at professional games? How boring would that be? And who would anyone know you were supporting? lol

it's a song that Millwall sing about any team from the countryside eg. norwich, ipswich, swindon.. that I adapted. I presume it's probably sung by other sides about them as well.
It made it's Stirling debut in 2006 while getting drunk on your balcony.
Glad you liked it.

I don't know what you're laughing about Govilla (or is it Godzilla?). The Breakers are a team of rugby, AFL and basketball folk who have never played soccer before as well as kids under 16 who have a genuine crack every week and enjoy the game for what it is. The funny thing is you guys grew up on soccer - have lived, breathed and played it all your life and you still can only play in Div 2 in the Amateur League. How sad.Govilla wrote:You guys have never really had a reason to like it...... lets be honest, you have won about ten games in the ten year existance of your club? I know who should be embarrassed and it's not the lads at Southern Breakers!

PS Maybe when you learn to spell you could try to be original and put a team song together, instead of imitating every other club!
