Re: Raptors Pre season
Looking forward to the Feast that Pumas are putting on for us this Sunday.... We'll see how it compares to our home games. We might find a home away from home!

I'll be heading down there to see if the chicken steaks are as good as Theo's chicken shaslicks. Hope to see you put one away this week sacred, you might have to work on the radar at training tonight though.sacred_june (GrooveChild) wrote:Looking forward to the Feast that Pumas are putting on for us this Sunday.... Re: Raptors Pre season
Just wanted to say thanks to all the Raptors boys from the Cup game a few weeks ago. BBQ sales were good as was the bar. Were only a small club so depend on people coming and spending their money at the club. Great appreicated guys. I know the BBQ wouldn't of been as good as yours. Good luck for the rest of the season
Re: Raptors Pre season
thanks... i only managed to take one snag and drink and leave (had to rush home to watch Carlton... lose...) but your club in general has come along way and all credit to you guys. I remember playing a friendly there 3/4 seasons back and you could tell then you guys were on the way up... great bunch of lads out there and love the banter from the sidelines!Jay Walking wrote:Just wanted to say thanks to all the Raptors boys from the Cup game a few weeks ago. Thanks Jay, our boys are good supporters of our club and never bring food or drinks with them when playing away. you guys have definately come a long way in a relatively short period of time and well done for that.Jay Walking wrote:Just wanted to say thanks to all the Raptors boys from the Cup game a few weeks ago. Banter was pretty special that day also, haven't laughed on the sidelines like that for a long time. mind you most of it was at our two wingbacks expense

Re: Raptors Pre season
Big weekend for all teams this week
C2 have a chance to wrap up the clubs first ever title with a win and a couple of other results going their way
The B's will be hoping to continue their recent form by travelling south to take on the knights - a win is needed to keep the pressure on Inter who are two points clear on top
And the A's should be desperate to stop the sides recent form slump by coming away with a win to stay in the top half of the table. Wont be easy, especially away to Sthn Knights, plus with their good results of late, they'll be looking to continue their rise up the ladder
lets hope its not too wet and windy so we can see a good game

Re: Raptors Pre season
3 great wins on the weekend, but the A's and B's will need to continue their good form v Elizabeth Grove to stay in the hunt for promotion/championship
B's gotta win to keep the pressure on Inter who are up against Fulham
Inter A's can do us a favour by beating Fulham, but us beating Grove isnt gonna be easy especially as theyre probably the strongest side weve played so far this year and are showing some good form - 8 seconds away from victory against Fulham last weekend i hear (we needed Grove to win )
and finally, a big congratulations to our C2 side who have claimed the clubs first ever championship. Well done boys - very much deserved. Heres hoping you can make it 17 out of 17 this weekend!

Hey Popov.........have you signed him up yet????????
Bassett hangs up the boots
By Luke Holmesby
12:07 PM Wed 27 August, 2008
ADELAIDE defender Nathan Bassett is the latest AFL player to announce his retirement.
The 31-year-old told his teammates on Wednesday morning that he will hang up the boots at the end of the season.
Bassett has played 208 AFL games (including 21 this year) in 11 seasons with Adelaide. Originally from Norwood, he was drafted by Melbourne as a rookie in 1997 but was traded to the Crows at the end of that year.
Adelaide CEO Steven Trigg paid tribute to the popular defender.
“Nathan retires as a life member of our club. Since commencing in 1998 he has grown enormously in terms of his leadership and the contribution he has made to the culture of our playing group – especially in recent years – has been very significant,” Trigg said.
“We’ll always remember the animated ‘Bass’ responses, the selfless acts of courage and the long runs out of defence which were trademarks of his 11 years as a player.
“We thank and congratulate him on an outstanding career.”
Bassett’s first game for Adelaide was against Carlton in the opening round of 1998. He played 13 games in his first season before injury ruined his chances of playing in the 1998 grand final.
In round 13 this year Bassett became the eighth Crow to play 200 AFL games for the club, joining Mark Ricciuto, Ben Hart, Andrew McLeod, Tyson Edwards, Nigel Smart, Mark Bickley and Simon Goodwin.
Bassett was runner-up in the club champion award in 2005 and the following year was named as a back pocket in the All Australian team. He has been a member of Adelaide’s leadership group since 2005. He is also a director on the Crows Foundation Board.
Bassett, Trigg and coach Neil Craig will address the media later today.

Re: Raptors Pre season
what an end to the season this is turning out to be for our club, coming down to the last game to decide the B's championship and the last promotion place for the A's
both teams had good wins yesterday.
A's did the business against Elizabeth Grove, who i gotta say were one of the better bunch of blokes weve come across all year. played the game in the right spirit - also hope the grove player is recovering well after his collision with the goal post
but the big result for the club was Inter's 0-0 draw with Fulham, which sets up a huge game at Raptors park next Sunday v Fulham. A win will secure our entry into Div 1 next season, while a draw is good enough to see Fulham through.
