Regardless of where he's playing, he would be an asset to any div 2 side.

maybe he's playing at modbury cos he lives around the corner from the club

i've played against him @ super league level plenty of times and always had tough battles against him. he'll help out vista a great amount.

People stop playing Super League for various reasons. i could still be playing but due to work i no longer can. From what i hear Scott is in the same position. It's a tough decision to make but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and decide what's best for your own personal future. so Don't be an asshole about it. Just let him play

And for the record, i dont know the guy well. People who are bagging him need to mind their own business. He could probably rip apart any central midfield (except ISC raptors :) )

Scotty let you feet do the talking

Its nothing personal, but scott gannon is a very over rated player and i dont think he has proven that he can play at a high standard.

Perhaps he is a much better player than you vista 09? but thats probably not a great achievement..
He is a better player than me, thats why he has played SASI, Joeys and Super League! As Boots and Di Canio said he is a great pick up and im sure any team would of been more than happy to have him as he would walk into any amateur club and most Super League ones too!
Funny how such a fantastic player who has played sasi, joeys and super league, as you have pointed out vista09,is now playing amatures for a struggling sunday div 2 team..Its amazing how he could walk into any amature club and most super league clubs, as you also pointed out, yet he has chosen to play for modbury vista! Great player though[/quote]

He has chosen to come back to Vista as it was the club he started at as a junior. Like has been said he has reason for comin back this year and will return to the super league when he feels it is the right time.

Grewcock... your point is well taken and very true... mind you due to his age I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that one day he will play on a higher level... good luck to him!

Farm V West Beach

Only a short report today as I'm watching South Park while trying to do this.

1st Team
We seem to completely dominate play. Scored early and moved the ball really well. Beach struggled on the wide bumpy pitch and just never got into the game. Beach were missing Johnny Manca who was on the bench and their new English Policeman player who appartenly is a gun. Beach got a few shots away but never threatened Robbie to much. Toasty and Jonesy worked hard, Ricky scored himself a double, Dave had one of his best games for the club and the defence looked solid. Very pleasing that we found some form after a few weeks of playing for long periods with 10 men. Fortunately for us, most of the other results went our way and we are now back on top of the table.

Reserves
The most unbelievable first minute of a game I have ever seen. From the kick off, West Beach held possession and in 35 seconds, put through a through ball for the striker to score. From our kick off, our two strikers put some nice one two's together to get the equaliser. In the first half, West Beach were certainly more desperate than us. Our final ball was letting us down and we conceeded after about 20 mins. 15 mins later we equalised and then went in front to lead 3-2 at half time. West Beach tired and we lifted after the break. Beach kept tiring but our fitness and a little extra class saw us win 5-3. Sloppy defending from us today which against a better team would of gotten more punishment. No disrespect to West Beach but they did look a little thin for players considering they only had one sub and he ran the line.

C Team
West Beach only had 7 players so didn't want to play the game. Disappointing that this happens in Div 1 considering a lot of organisation goes into setting up for a 11am game. We could of set up a little later. Plus many players, including myself didnt get a run. I got a massive 5 mins in the B's for the day which put me in a great mood :x I know it can be hard if players let you down but if they were going to struggle for numbers a quick phone call on Saturday could of spared us another wait.

C2 Team
Got up with a 1 nil win. We were also short of numbers this week so it was a weakened c2 team. Still good to win. Hopefully a few players back this week so the C2 should strengthen

Dad's Army
Good win for the Over 35's over Para Hills West (B). Game was put back to 1:30pm which meant a few players couldn't play leaving us with about 1 sub. The boys stay 3rd and with some players to return, they could be pushing for the title :D

Cheers to West Beach for the day. Tough day for them but always good to play against them and normally some good banter. All the best to Wayne and InDivOneAgain for the rest of the year.

OVER-RATED
Regardless of whether you rate Scott Gannon as a super league player, he is clearly going to be very good as a Sunday Div 2 player. I agree with Di Canio, and have no doubt that he would make any amateur league starting XI.

The fact that he lives a 5 minute walk from Vista would be why he chose to play for a bottom half Div 2 team. Though I suspect if he plays the last 8 games they will end up in mid table safety.

Division 5 Saturday, it says on the website that Cove White beat Strathalbyn 20-0. Is that a typo?? Never seen a score like that before, even in the Collegiate League.

So it does. You never know, maybe Strathalbyn only had eight players or something. Last season someone won 22-0. in my playing days we clocked up a 17-1 win against a team from a country town in Western Australia in a cup match but rarely in the league.

Yeah when we played against Strath they only had 10 men, and we beat them 8-0, but we beat Cove two weeks ago, so something must've really gone wrong for Strath on the weekend.

When playing OPEN A's School Soccer in year 11 @ CBC, we once beat St Peter's B Team 36-0 (not sure why we were playing them as we thrashed their A's 8-0)

Jay, I think the C's had four or five no shows on the day without contacting anyone which buggered things up. Should find out tonight the reason. Plus we had two C players in our defence and one on the bench for the B's.

I'm not trying to turn into Redders here with the excuses though. We let in some soft goals in the B's and missed a couple of chances so we can't complaion with the result. How soft was the pen though? :D

We were caught out with five break-aways in the A grade after dominating.

Oh, and the yiros went down a treat mate.

Fair enough then Grouse about the C's. Its annoying when players do that to you.

You guys as always impressed in the B's and were only a couple of players away from probably taking the points from us on the day. Not our best performance but credit to you guys.

I thought 4 of our goals were offside so probably should of been a 1 nil win

I've played on the winning side in a 20-0 and the losing side.

We only had 7 players in the one we lost, and two of them were one of our players 14 year old brother and 50 year old dad. We held them out for 20 minutes as well. Our keeper was probably man of the match.

Winning side was a university match, can't even remember which university we were playing.

Villa beat Buffers 22-0 in Sat Div 3 last year, they folded a week later and the result was expunged.

It does make it tough Jas with setting up but at least the Beach lads stuck around and played a scratch match with the C1's. Meant some of the boys could get some match time and it allowed me to have a run for the first time in 10 months which felt real good Monday morning . Bagging two past old Dave Barnes after him giving me crap all day felt good though  , was he spewing but he brought it on.

You get those weeks Jas, I will happily promote you to the C1's anytime

Hey Jay,

You need to work on those Yiros .. wasn't as good as the Yiros at the Beach!!

The C's game was a disappointment for everyone..not sure what happened there! We have been turning people away from C games the last couple of weeks!

We were down a couple of players in the B's as well and had to draft in a few B players that hadn't played in weeks.Thought the B's was an even game!If I hadn't of played in the defence., i reckon we would have won 3-2 !

Hopefully, there will be a return fixture next year ;-)

We only had 7 players in the one we lost, and two of them were one of our players 14 year old brother and 50 year old dad. We held them out for 20 minutes as well. Our keeper was probably man of the match.

Winning side was a university match, can't even remember which university we were playing.

Villa beat Buffers 22-0 in Sat Div 3 last year, they folded a week later and the result was expunged.
One of you should've retired hurt early on that way the match would've had to have been abandoned and then you would've only lost 3 (or 2) -nil...

We would then have been faced with an almighty league fine, we did consider it though. In fact, most of us didn't want to bother playing to start with. The league fine would have been just as bad though, if they'd realised that 3 of our players were not registered.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:

Colossus: One House

Costa: One Lunch

Oh and add in

Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

I never said he wouldnt be an ok div 2 player. People have been blowing smoke up his a*se for years and look where he has ended up...If he is young and fit, thats even more reason why he shouldnt be at an amature club if he's such a fantastic player..Yes he's an ok player, but who isnt?he is just not the superstar everyone seems to think he is, and his move to vista proves that..

you get back to scott when you find a federation side who plays on a sunday!!!!! the reasons for leaving federation due to work commitments are more than reasonable and as a result he has no choice but to play on a sunday.......... his reasoning for choosing modbury vista is exactly that HIS not yours mine or anyone elses (perhaps Stuart had some say in the matter).

Regardless, if you ask Duane or anyone else at Modbury he would be more than welcome to return when and if it becomes an option in the near future!!! when i see posts like this it makes you wonder. Now if your finished hiding behind your keyboard feel free to pop out to vista (or tilley park this weekend) and have a look at what the kid can do. Ive known Scott for a long time and i can guarantee he is one of the best players in the amatuer league today. BUT he still has alot to learn and a long way to go before he reaches his full potential but for the time being......... Lets let him play football!!! I know having him at my club is a bonus not only am i given the chance to play along side him but im also given the chance to learn a great deal from him.

Oi! There are no excuses when your winning, but plenty when you lose ;)

I'm still amazed a Millwall fan played in a university game. Were you a ring in Hawkesey?
