nice food by raptors too
Yes the food was good. I thought you were going to buy me a chicken wing Image
Can confirm all of those results and I beleive the C2 team beat Adelaide Villa 7-1.

A's
The scoreline flattered Inter. The sending off of the keeper no doubt played a big part in the result. It was 2-2 at the time, although I have to say there was controversy over the second Raptors' goal. The linesman flagged off side and the referee over ruled it. I wasn't perfectly in line so I can't say for sure, but it did look iffy. There was an incident a few minutes later where the same linesman flagged offside and the referee told him "never..." but I was in line with that one and when the orignal ball was played it was offside. The penalty from where I was standing looked like a penalty, although there were counter claims that the person who was fouled went in with studs showing. Couldn't tell from my angle. Probably not by that scoreline, but Inter deserved the win.

B's
Don't remember any real incidents from this game. I guess like when you read a book you remember the beginning and the end but not what's in the middle. There were a few arguments between some players after the game but it dispersed as quick as it started.

C's
Much closer game. All the goals in the first half, settled by a penalty which I think was a correct decision. Protests of getting the ball but it was a tackle from behind, endo of story. There was also an incident after the whistle but I didn't see the actual incident except for a player lying on the ground and some pointing of fingers.

C2's
Didn't watch the game but was advised of the score from someone who participated in it.

I met at least half a dozen forumites at the game.

Bodo I think the Raptor boys may not be requesting your presence in the future. Two games- Two Send-offs :D :D
I thought the Raptors were going to cop a few more in the first half but to the Raptors credit, they held off. The 2nd half surprised me as Inter went defensive. Their constant "Long Ball" game plan was as boring as Bat Shit too watch, but I guess it's working for them so why would you change it. Raptors replied with 2 quick goals and were all over them as they pushed for the 3rd. Just as that 3rd goal was looking more imminent, Inter got their get of jail free card by the way of a penalty. How the ref didn't pay a free kick to goal keeper in the first place for a 2 footed studs tackle was beyond me but the resultant penalty was scored and it was all over from there. You don't win championships without a bit of luck, and Inter have been consistant all season so good luck to them as I don't have doubt that they will win the league. As for the Raptor boys, it's not all doom and gloom there's still 8 games to go with every game looming as a grand final for the boys from the East.

Not a bad game to watch. I actually think that Easties had the better of the first half, with a couple of chances. At about the 65th minute mark East had a player sent off. I thought that it was a very harsh sending off. I could not believe that the ref even gave a free kick as I was standing right infront of the incident and the east player certainly got all ball. Anyway last man and he had to go.
East managed to keep the onslaught out for the remainder.

I think that if that is the best West play, they must have barely won most of their games. i think both teams missed a match winning player, one who can change the game. But East faught well, and West were a well drilled side.

Good to see some new young faces in the league. I thought the number 10, and 7(?) were the best players for West. Can someone tell me who they are?

I think that now that all teams have plyed them, the unknown factor will have passed and the second half of the year will be very tough for them. My prediction - No chance of winning the league..... (sorry boys)
Who got the red? Did your brother play ressies?

Bomber and Hawkesy have both said trouble seems to follow me whereever I go. When you pulled it back to 2-2 I thought you were going to go on and win it. The penalty incident... I didn't see the studs because I wasn't in the best position to do so down at the other end of the pitch. That decision changed the game - no argument there. Next time I go and watch a Raptors game I'll stand on the other side.

the problem with studs up is it almost seems to have become acceptable. so once that was allowed, the keeper pulled the player down, gave the ref no choice.

must have been a fair few forumites there then as i belive there was at least 6ish over on our side

A's Gardens 2 Downs 2
B's Gardens 1 Downs 4 i think??

Gardens started out the gate first 5-10 min then Downs got a scrappy goal with a free kick 30 yards out hit by Aggars it then hit a Gardens player in the side & fell to Hughsy feet inside the box 1 nil Downs. Down scored another opportunice goal 5 mins later when the ball was failed to be cleared by the Gardens defence falling to Aggars on the edge of the area & he tucked it away nicely 2 nil half time.

Have to agree with Jets7 2nd half was all one way traffic. Bout 5 mins in Gardens got a corner swung in well by Matty Tape for Mohammed to rise above the defence to tuck away a nice header. Gardens straight back into it 2-1. Downs had a players sent off with about 30 mins to play for a soft tackle IMO but then i think he had words with the ref, second yellow. From then on it was all Gardens. Well worked goal was scored with a delicate back heal by Matthew Chose. 2-2 Game on 20 mins to go. Gardens went on to hit the post with Benny beaten from a header from Tapey then Benny A pulled off 'save of the season' from a diving header from Mohamed to keep Downs in the game & to hold on for the 2-2 draw. There would be no knockers of Benny A today showed all his class

Credit to Motts & the Downs done well to dig deep with 10 men to grind out a result.
Great crowd for another classic Gardens Downs encounter :D

Pontian Eagles 0 Usc Lion 1

Pontians started the better of the two for the first 10 minutes. After that it seemed fairly even Lion probably could count themselves unlucky no to be 1 up at the break. Second half i felt Lion were the better team and Eagles looked tired and flat. With about 10 to go Eagles defender makes mistake trying to clear cross goals and Lion made them pay. Eagles peshed everyone forward at the end but to no avail. Interesting toi see Paradiso ask to be subbed with the game at 0-1 looked like there was nothing wrong with him. Golden Eagle had a good game pulling off some telling saves but the Eagles look no where near dangerous without billy karapetis.

A's: Vikings 4 - 4 MSSC Blue Eagles
B's: Vikings 2 - 1 MSSC Blue Eagles

A's game was intense - it was a game for the strikers, with both sets of forwards for both teams causing havoc. Vikings scored 3 of their goals from corners, and we were given two penalties late in the game (which were both there). Awesome fightback from our players who trailed 2-0, 3-1, and 4-2.

B's Adelaide Vikings 2 v Adelaide Blue Eagles 1
A's Adelaide Vikings 4 v Adelaide Blue Eagles 4

A last minute winner for the lads in the B game saw us take the 3 points from a very evenly fought contest. Well, it happened in the A's, we dropped our first points for the season against a quality Blue Eagles outfit. We had a shocker tho, gave away 2 penalties one in the 90th minute. Defitnely our worst performance of the season, not taking anything away from the Eagles, they probably had their chances to win it. Once again a Dr Jekyl & Mr Hyde performance from the ref, crucified the Eagles in the first half and then switch hitted in the second half, we have had this referee before and he doesnt allow the game to flow, very stop/start. Cant believe with the other results on our poor performace today we actually extend our lead at the top!!

Apparently - Munno Para 3 Asteras 5, San Marco 1 Macedonia 1, Brahma 2 Plympton 0, Payneham 6 El Salvador 1.
If they are correct the table is as....

Team P W D L GF GA GD PTS
ADELAIDE VIKINGS 10 9 1 0 47 15 32 28
SAN MARCO 10 5 2 3 34 22 12 17
ADELAIDE ASTERAS 10 5 2 3 23 16 7 17
BRAHMA LODGE 10 4 5 1 23 17 6 17
MUNNO PARA CITY 10 5 2 3 25 20 5 17
MSSC BLUE EAGLES 10 3 4 3 22 22 0 13
PAYNEHAM POSTEL 10 3 2 5 19 18 1 11
PLYMPTON BULLDOGS 10 2 3 5 19 22 -3 9

I was right behind the goals when it happened and it was more a desperate lundge that put Drosdie under pressure than a 2 footed studs up tackle, very far from it. Could have gone either way, but shame it killed a good game that could have gone either way at the time. Full credit to you guys for a fantastic fightback from 0-2 down and Inter would know that luck played a huge part for them today, but in saying, they took full advantage of it as some sides don't, would have been a great last 20 mins....Putting your best player in goals didn't help much either, but i can see why, he pulled off 3 sensational saves and almost saved the penalty.!!!! Your left winger looked dangerous all day and was great when the game was in the balance, sweeper ( guy with the knee brace) and stopper come keeper, fantastic. Good luck for the rest of the year.

Cheers Jack Mehorf! You're welcome. Same to you guys.
The above comment got me wondering if you have club rooms that everyone goes to afterwards.
We wish!

We rely on the weather and gather around the barbeque each week after the A's match. We've began hiring a marquee if rain is forecast. Not a cheap option though.

We've applied for a grant to build shelter at the ground. Fingers crossed!
