hahaha your trying to claim afl is a 'world game', expanded into parts of europe? 12 aussies finding a real football pitch and kicking an odd shaped ball around!

Ohhh Dear i haven't hit a nerve have I :?: :?: When was the last Afl round that attracted 90,000 plus to more than one game :?: Do you know why AFL was invented :?: Is it possible that AFL at grassroots is one of the least played of the three codes across the nation :?: Sorry but that uni degree is obviously in Mechanics or Horticulture :clown: because you have no facts to support your claim come back to me when you have your degree  I need someone to recommend whether i have roses or lilys on my decking

You come into a thread about Italy v Spain and some Shite for brains turns it into AFL versus Football. Please do yourself a favour a try real hard not to hit "enter" buttafter you type so much tosh :P :P :P
Check your facts I think only the AFL Grand final has attracted 90k+ regularly.
More kids play Football in this country than Aussie rules

You muppet, while the AFL may have not been around for as long, Australian rules has been played dating back to around 1860 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_rules_football

Hmm around the same time Assosiation Football came up with the modern game (around 1863).

Both games have origins dating back 10 or so years before that. So really, australian rules and the football have been around for about the same time. Come to think of it AFL is doing bloody shit for how long its been around.

That is some mega huge ownage right there. That's is manhood threatening ownage. The real argument really isn't which one is bigger...the REAL argument is who can change the topic more from the original intention of the thread, in that respect I'd just like to put my opinion forward that Rambo is a punk....Rocky would kick the crap out of Rambo from here back to Vietnam......Rocky or Total 90 either way

the real football>rugby>basketball>ice hockey>playstation games>volleyball>afl

correct me if im wrong but doesnt afl play gaelic at the end of most years (apart from it being cancelled) and isnt gaelic a sport which involves a real football ball and real football goals. if afl is so much better, why dont real football players play afl against other countries?

Because the AFL have got it in their beautiful white fence and colourful garden world that international matches are not necesary  unfortunately most people in the AFL struggle to adapt their ability to play the game of gaelic and rightly so 8) , there are so many aspects that differ the two :!: However without international competition and worldwide knowledge of the game lets face it AFL will always be a local kick around and something that Aussies say they invented :!: :clown:

Rambo1 you are a disgrace you come on to a website called footballnews make an acount with footballnews and post comments on footballnews yet still call it soccer :?: anyone calling it soccer is either oblivious to progression of football in Australia or anti football in Australia :!: These people such as yourself Rambo1 are the reason why the three main codes in Australia cannot work together

By the way................Footy as you call it was invented to keep cricket players fit in the off season, my sport stopped a war :!: What has yours done :?:

Ok people, lets just face it. Italy are a team of passion and pride who havent always had the best players in the world eg. ronaldinho, gerrard etc. but we always never give in and the script has been written for us in crucial matches to score in the last minute. Spain have always had the most talent and as we all know, struggle to perform in the big game matches. so just before we start saying how good spain are lets just see if they can beat a team like Russia who don't have the best players but as italy does, they have passion. If spain win on penalties again they should consider themselves very lucky.

no man

we have players that are better than Ronaldinho and Gerrard, and just as talented as Spain. We just got a lot of things wrong at this tournament and in the end, its Donadoni who will pay

Better than Ronaldinho??? No one still playing today is better than Ronaldinho at his best. Ronaldinho wasn't just a really good player he was in innovator who changed football for the better. I repeat, no one in any team is better than Ronaldinho, if Zidane was still around....maybe, but seeing as he's not there should be no cause for confusion, Ronaldinho is the best.

wel unfortunately for him, he's let his own career go down. Yes he has had injuries but its not like he has been the ultimate professional either.

Its all good to have ability but unless you do something with it then you are not anything special.

Ronaldinho lasted 3 or 4 years at the top, talent of a star but not the makings of a champion.

True but in those 3 or 4 years, he was better than anything Italy has ever produced. I really can't express how good Ronaldinho was i'm sure you've seen countless highlights of his incredible innovation. His creative mind, his quick thinking and his ability to make the opposition look foolish was amazing. Zidane and Ronaldinho are the best players i've ever seen in modern times anyway, i've seen footage of Di Stefano and he's up there but as for players of my time, Ronaldinho and Zidane for sure.

better than anything we've ever produced?? possibly when talking of attacking players, Baggio would be the man who would challenge him but Baggio wasn't really similar to R10 even though he was world class. The likes of Baresi and Maldini can't be compared obviously as they are completely different but just as excellent in their roles and had the makings of champions.

as far as it goes, Zidane was better than R10. Firstly, Zidane maintained his quality over a good decade and led France to a World Cup title and runner up, as well as a Euro that they possibly wouldn't have done without him. Stellar team but he was the man who drove them to ultimate success.

I just believe that to be a legend of the game, you need to maintain your world class over many, many years and lead your team to success as the star. R10 had this chance but it didnt happen for whatever reason, so he'll go down as one of those talents that never reached its potential.

Dinho was more talented and skillful definitely but Baggio was a champion, took us to a World Cup final and was brilliant throughout the whole of the 90s. Baggio produced more.

R10 really disappointed at the 06 World Cup. That couldve been his tournament, the one where he really killed but that four way attack and his own personal problems really f*cked him up. From there it was all downhill.

Firstly, soccer will never take over too ethnic based in australia
Andrew Dimenicou??
19% of the australian population are of aboriginal or torres straight island descent the rest are "ethnic" knob
Secondly, you use our grounds such as telstra dome and telstra stiadium in sydney predominantely used for nrl fixtures and for the swans, so go back to your small pissweak
grounds of members equity, hindmarsh.

MCG?? The ground you play your grand final was built for cricket! The biggest AFL purpose built stadium is AAMI stadium with a capacity of 51,309. :(
Thirdly, you dont get close to attendances, memberships, viewing in australia
North Melbourne, St Kilda, Sydney, Fremantle and Port Adelaide all managed membership sales in the region of 15 to 22 thousand last year, Melbourne FC sold 28,000.
Fourthly, for those above reasons AFL is football in australia and soccer is soccer
For those above FACTS AFL is no more the "official" football of Australia anymore.
Soccer players = bunch of over paid, prissy soft grenache pansies that should attend von nida half the time
The highest paid player in the a-league or in australia for that matter is John Aloisi for sydney FC with a 1 million dollar 4 year deal. Brendon Fevola is in talks with Carlton about a 3 year 4 million dollar contract. AND HE IS NOT EVEN THE HIGHEST PAID PLAYER AT HIS CLUB!
"prissy soft grenache pansies that should attend von nida half the time"
Ahh my favourite well lets see, 21 greased up boys running out in short shorts and tight singets breaking through crape paper before the game, if you catch the ball you cannot be tackled, if you miss you receive a consolation goal, you may make as many subs or "interchanges during a match as needed, you may also take three breaks druring the match and consme copius amounts of water while still on the field, if you are impeeded after catching the ball then you are allowed an extra 50m of field to then play the ball from. :clown:
Sixthly, afl is the national identity of australia so it has done something for me and my football club has been all mighty so successful
Sport, Vegemite, Fosters, Sydney and Uluru are the five most reckognised "national icons to tourists according to a survey done in 2005 by the national government's tourism sector. :o
Seventhly, next time maybe mate
Had you maybe made this argument and based facts on the two sports 20 years ago you may have won this argument. NOT TODAY :!:
Eightly, afl, nrl and cricket >>>>soccer
Im not quite sure what point you are trying to make here but........ok

Did i mention you're a caveman :?: :D

Ok, if you look at state league sides they are dominated by italian clubs and there are alot of greek clubs in the lower leagues coming through and there are only a few real aussie clubs like para hills which even now have alot of ethnics their and even a club like modbury but maybe only playford.
Modbury and Para Hills are super league clubs, Knob
End of the day the afl uses those grounds, you used them for national games. Telstra dome is a purpose built afl stadium mate. We have suburban grounds that are bigger than you cabernet pits that you call soccer grounds.
Whether AFL uses those grounds or not Telstra Dome was built as an entertainment venue prodomenently used for concerts not purpose for AFL, Knob
If you arent to well aware all those clubs have broken membership figures for this yr with melbounrne about to reach 30k when they are bottom and north melbourne were at about 32,000 a few months ago and the bulldogs would be rising cause their a flag chance, so their goes your argument on that one.
By going off last seasons a-league stats as this seasons have not been confirmed and seeing as the a-league has been formed for 3 years now. we can see that sydney FC and Melbourne Victory FC have more members than Melbourne and North Melbourne. these are two teams from "the home of afl" these are two teams that have not exacty "underacheived in the last two years. Knob :D
Fev deserves a countract like that when hes the best fwd around and kicking bags of goals each week. Im sure ud pay the same for judd, an absolute superstar, brownlow medalist, norm smith, premiership captain. Their wages are 1/50 of what those diving fucks that call themselves soccer players get. atleast they put their head over the ball and dont go down like shiraz a sack of spuds mate. One tackle in afl is the equivalent of 90 minutes in your cabernet sport.
John Aloisi who is the highest paid A-League player scored in the world cup hes an ambassador for ffa, he is reckognised internationally! and he gets paid nothing compared to fevola and judd who have done nothing but play AFL, unless you would like to count Fevolas two games of "international rules" when he hit a bar tender in an irish pub :!: . Knob
AFL is the national game of australia. if u come here they wont talk about ur under-developed a league mate nor does anybody care about it cause all state governments are wanting to do is fund the continued development of 'AFL' grounds not your cabernet pits so your wrong their again mate.
cricket and rugby both have development acadamies in every state, they are both played at national and international level in more than one code, sorry champ your not number one. Knob
and your comment about being a caveman is all mighty gay and i would be surprised if you own a pair of your own 19 inch glasses that you wear whilst you sit on this all day you shiraz dumb cu*t. Couldnt even spell your name mate if it was printed in front of you.[/quote]
Nice one mate did you come up with this one all by yourself :?:
Did i mention your a Knob :?:
