Hey Bodo, were the x's due to keeper saves or misses?

And so the penalty curse returns. Poor penalty from Di Natale, why didn't Del Piero take one? We played well but the same problems of not getting the ball into right areas for Toni was there again. Then again I don't like all these garbage long balls to Toni. Let's play the ball along the ground and work it around.

All in all it was a poor championship. It was starting to get better but when you have strikers who can't score then you ain't winning titles.

The end of a generation here. Should be the end for Cannavaro, Materazzi, Del Piero and Panucci, but we have some great youngsters coming through. We need a smooth transition to this next generation.

Ciao Donadoni, bring back Lippi.

I now remember the pain of penalties but thankfully this didn't happen two years ago.

Doesn't help when we can't get to five! Surely a candidate for the kick after De Rossi missed.

I reckon ADP should of been further up the rank. He has that much experience I just don't see him taking a poor one. Of course, anything can happen.

what a great tournament this is turning out to be! anti-football teams are out (italy,Greece(Greece tried to play football more than italy though, must admit)),
croatia got the boot by the almighty Turks!
Russia beat the netherlands in a great display..
so now whos left? Turks, Deutsch, Ruskiz and the Spaniards.. finally it will be a good round of football in the semis, with 3 of the 4 sides that dont know the meaning of defend and that will hopefully play attacking football as we have seen from them in this tournament already.. my tip Turkey-Russia final, would be a cracker.

never knew about that hoodoo before..

the Italians meanwhile continue to lose all penalty shootouts except the most important one

really it had nothing to do with goalkeeping. Buffon and Casillas one good save each, but Di Natale's spot kick was poor. Disappointing but thats the way things go.

two sides were so even, Spain better going forward but defensively the Italians were far too good. only one way it could have been settled.

Madridista how did you like Del Piero's little flick towards the end there

Very poor penalty by Di Natale. You just have to go top corner for penalties. Keeper will never stop something top corner.

Was 2006 more important that 1994 and if so why?

I realize that, but the ways it's written sounds like it was more important to win in 2006 than it was in 1994.
