scrappy game today and not to many chances for either team, vista went up 1 nil just before half time through a lucky goal. Not to much space today the tigers were very fit and fast. second half was a bit the same with neither team really taking control. Vista scored two early goals in the second half and then went down to ten men with a vista player being sent off for a second yellow with about 20 minutes to go. Not a bad result for vista considering it was most of the tigers A team out there. Bit dissapointing after the game to see the adelaide tigers supporters run on to the ground after and start a bit of push and shove.
How do you know? Do you watch their team regularly?
no actually i have never seen them play before i am just going on what one of there players said. i was talking to one of there players and commented on how well they were playing and asked him if he usually played in the A team and he said a few of them do. if that was there regular B team they should not be sitting where they are on the ladder, they were a stong side.

Gardens 1 Stirling 0 AET

Great gutsy win by the lads today with the squad stretched once again. Credit to Stirling they are a strong outfit in Div 1 Sat & put up a great contest. both teams had chances to snatch it in normal time.

Peacy once again showed all his class & Foster pop'd up again for the winner :D

I guess bring on Sunday with the visit of the Downs :D

So now most has been downgraded to a few. I have seen them play a couple of times. The problem is that whilst someone them are skillful and lightening fast many lack discipline. When they fire, they fire. However, when they fall apart they fall apart real bad, which is why their league position isn't as high as you expect.

It was a good performance by BOSA and should be at least a feather in the cap of the Saturday divs for those who love to crap on about the Sunday Vs Saturday leagues.

BOSA took the foot off of the peddle at 3 - 0 half time and cruised to the victory. Gully was undisciplined and only kicked the ball long when they had possession. The send off was harsh but the player couldn't cabernet his mouth after his yellow. I doubt that this would have made much difference to the result.
They are a Div 2 Sunday team though. Left Right Out would of been missing also due to coaching a fed team.

The cup has turned up some interesting results already.
LRO aint there anymore Jay, playing over 35's up front with Earl Pudler, im pretty sure with Modbury Jets Old boys. To good for that league.. but dont tell him :D

Still can't believe we played as badly a we did and me in particular. On a personal level my worst performance of the year, just didn't do the basic movement that i expected from a striker.

Still think i should have got that penalty, not you Aldo the defender who pulled me back after I controlled on my chest.

In general, a decently played game with no real nastiness, apart from one abysmal tackle, that I can't believe he only got a yellow for.
Agreed regarding the penalty Hawkesy - it was one of those that are given half the time and you were unlucky. The tackle was very late, and I think the only reason he wasn't shown a red was to even up from your last man that wasn't sent off earlier in the half. That said, the ref had the red card in his hand and put it back in and grabbed the yellow! All the best for the season Hawkesy.

Grove 4 Westies 1, Bad day out for the west today all credit to the Grove boys who were very commited and worked hard all day long. If they can compete like that for the rest of the season they should stave off relegation comfortably. Good luck in the next round!

-FLORINA 2 - 0 AFTER EXTRA TIME AGAINST CROATIA IN THE CUP-

This week Salisbury Florina were back at home at Underdown Park where they faced Croatia in Round 2 of the Bianco Amateur League Challenge Cup.

Florina fielded a very different team in resting players for a big game next week against Elizabeth Vale in Trevor Elliott, Paul Hoey, Billy Droulias, Lucky Paikos, Brendon Cooney and some others.

Florina was going to have a tough game ahead as Croatia will always lift for the big games and leaving out so many players was going to be a test for us. No more than when 15 minutes into the second half Frank Marron recieved his second yellow and Florina were reducued to ten men. Florina looked to have gone ahead when the ball seemed to cross the line for the referee to deny the goal saying the keeper had saved it. Florina was always second to the ball and most of the players were having a bad game second to the ball on too many occassions.

Halftime 0 - 0.

The Second half was not much different than the first half with some pretty ordinary football being played. Both teams had the advantage in patches but while still with ten men Florina always looked the better team that was going to score. Croatia didn't trouble the Florina keeper too much and most shots were sprayed high and wide.

Fulltime 0 - 0.

Extra time was what the game needed as Florina now really pushed for that goal to win aswell as Croatia and the game picked up a notch or two with end to end play. While Florina would always be worried about the counter attack goal with only ten men, to their credit pushed on with not being too defensive and playing more attacking than pulling players back. Florina were rewarded with their persistance in the second half of extra time when the Croatia keeper was lobbed from way out side the box and pushed the ball on to the cross bar and back down behind the goal line, 1 - 0. There was then only about 5 minutes left when Croatia was caught out on the counter attack when looking for the equaliser and two Florina forwards went two on one with Croatia's defender to pass the ball between themselves and then bury it in the net once inside the box, 2 - 0.

AET 2 - 0.

Why Iggies? Iggies lost to a team that from all accounts has half of last years div 1 champions playing for them.

Actually why wanderers, they lost to a team in their own division on penalties.

Reserves Cup

Para Hills West 1 - Fulham United 2

Great win today against another division 1 sunday league side. First half was very even with chances at both ends, but the second half we shut them down and scored the winner midway through the half. Not sure how Fulham A's travelled today though

Bodø Glimt wrote:A's: Adelaide Asteras 3 Adelaide Uni 2

Overall Uni were the better on the day, especially in the second half. The game itself started in farce as the Uni team didn't have it's cabernet together. Cards were not ready, team sheets not filled and the quote the referee "what a shambles". Why he said that to me I don't know but he was right, the games should have kicked off fifteen minutes earlier. Eventually it did get under way, but only 40 miutes were played each way. Asteras had most of the opening stages although Uni came back into it after a while. Two goals put Asteras up 2-0 before half time with two nice chips over an advancing keeper who I thought went to ground a little too early. Had he stayed on his feet another second he may have stopped both.

The second half was pretty much all Uni. They pulled one goal back and had chances to grab another. Well into the second half the first Asteras attack led to a third goal. Uni pulled a second back five minutes from the end.

I was behind the Asteras linesman for most of the second half. I think he got the most of his decisions correcty except the very last one when he called offside, and then after the keeper saved the cabernet he changed his mind and gave a corner. Either it was offside or it wasn't. I didn't think it was but the keeper saved the cabernet anyway.

I thought it was strange the referee verbally advising the goalkeepers that free kicks were direct or indirect. I did ask him why he did that at half time and he said he always did so that the keeper knows whether it can go directly in or not. Is this a common occurance? Idon't think I've seen it before.

Bodo thanks for coming out & watching the game..I assume you were the person with the hooded jumper on that side. No mention of some bad decisions by the Uni linesman though who actually admitted at 1 stage that he gave offside for something that was clearly onside............absolute disgrace on his part.

However some of the challenges I saw today from the Uni players were reckless with several studs up challenges that the useless referee let go & I myself was wondering does some1 have to get seriously hurt before the ref would actually step in & control the situation, not to mention their player who decided to take a swing at an Asteras player. I think alot of credit should go to the Asteras boys for never giving up & fighting til the end against a Saturday Division 1 side. Well done though to the Uni boys who fought back well from the 2-0 half time score to almost ground out a result if not for some outstanding keeping which possibly kept Asteras in the game.

Goes to show that there are some very strong teams in the lower saturday divisions that are knocking the much fancied Sunday Div 1 sides out. Have no doubt that Sturt Marion, Adelaide Villa,The Cove and Salisbury Villa could take on any side in the amatuer league. Whether you play Saturday or Sunday means absolute s**t!!!! So to all you guys that think playing Sunday div 1 or div 2 is the strongest, you have another thing coming. Saturday league getting very strong.
PS- BOSA 5 TTG 1...........
Beach had 6-7 out and Cove are a good side.

Gardens beat Stirling so I dont see how your Saturday arguement washes.

Yes that was me. I remember that decision. I wasn't in line with it so couldn't tell and on the other side of the pitch so never heard him admit to that if he did but I did hear everyone on your bench scream that to the referee. Was his admition not taking the piss or returning some banter? Sorry, I was too far away to hear it, but I know he wasn't the guy who ran the line in the first half. The guy in the first half was always keeping up with play which is good to see.
