Results from the Fulham V Adelaide City Game 20/6/8

Post by adelaidepie »

The Fulham reserves won 4-2 while the prems result was Fulham 1 City 0

The reserves game started with City putting the pressure on Fulham early. Gradually Fulham got into the game and then as the flow of play went, Fulham scored. With Fulham continue to attack and City continuing to have a crack back it was evident that 1 goal woould not be enough. Fulham was the first to add to their tally, going in at half time 2-0 up.

As expected City came back at Fulham and in an exciting game City pulled one back. It seemed like only a minute had passed when Fulham gained their 2 goal advantage. With a pitch heavy with dew players getting tired more goals looke like they could be scored and where. Fulham scored one more before city got a consulation goal with only minutes remaining.

This was a good exciting game as a pre warm up for the prems game.

I will leave someone from either fulham or city to do a more comprehensive write up of this game but all I can say is that football was the winner on the night as both teams gave it their all and with a good crowd in attendance no one should have gone home unhappy about the games played. Strong, attacking football in cool and wet conditions.

All i have to say is it was a very competitive match, both teams went in hard from the very beginning.. thought it was never gonna end and noone was going to score but lucky for us (Fulham) we managed to keep pressing and get the much needed goal.
I think Fulham worked more as a unit, playing the ball around and covering each other all the time.

GO FULHAM :D

Agreed SpazzTic. But honestly, I think Fulham deserved the win.
Fulham's defense was extremely strong and kept Adelaide City to minimal scoring opportunities. Well done to Fulham!
Anyone know what happened to the girl who got stretchered off?

I agree, Fulham appeared to have a little more of the play but did not appear to be threatening their goal if that makes sense! A lucky goal but one that Fulham will take every time.

Credit to city for taking it up to Fulham but makes the run home for top spot very interesting!!

Good game to watch thou! Well done to both sets of players.

Very Interesting...

Well from what i was watching the game looked very even. I don’t think Fulham deserved it more than city nor did city deserve it more than Fulham. Both teams fought hard and each player played to the best of there own ability as well as a team. Fulham was very lucky with the goal they had ‘scored’ and in the end that is what the game came to. LUCK!

Each team was strong and went in equally hard for tackles and so forth.

Would have been nice to see a few more passes put together by each team but over all a very entertaining game to watch.

I disagree. It was not luck. Pressure and capitalising on a goal scoring opportunity is what occured

Not enough passing? I thought Fulham did that quite well. Never panicked in defence, moved the ball around, switched play. Used the keeper (usually the most underutilsed 11th player) . This inclusve team game is what kep Fulahm setting up opportunity after opportunity. City moved the ball ok in spots however, many times individuals tried in vain to crack the really excellent defence.

From what I have seen this year, Max is developiong a group that has players who all contribute well and can (in some instance) become attacking options.

Yes the game tended to drag however given the conditions, I think everyone did extremely well.

Shorty...I agree about your commens re: the ref protecting players from "tackles"that could injure the attacker or the recipient. Unfortunately, Tanya is a young lady and to have this kind of injury plus many other knee related ones is a real shame. The long term consequences of back injuries is a concern. Hope she is back on deck soon and looks after herself.

P.s Congratulations and kudos to the organisers for putting on the ""match of the month" Venue is ok. The canteen set up was welcome! Bec Morrison on vocals was inspirational. I just wish she did a Gordon Ramsay and dropped the F Bomb! Bec for Australian Idol!

Good time to catch up with friends from other clubs to discuss all things women's football and watch the players put in their all. This is something the federation (sawsa) can look towards developing further. It will be good to see weekend matches at a venue that has a couple of senior games. Whether its SANTOS or Ad City's ground at Oakden or Marden, I and others would support it.

Anyway, credit where its due. Lets just hope it continues and the National League happens. It needs to.
