This should be a cracker. Quite often teams who do well in a tournament are slow to start whereas teams who come out firing tend to struggle to keep that momentum so it would be interesting to see how this goes.

We've had a knack for starting slow and then trying to get into rythm before its too late... let's hope we do so against the underachievers!

spain look too good at the moment. italy picked up a bit while beating poor playing france. but i dont think it will matter how good italy is at the back, villa or torres will prob bag a brace. i can see either a 3-1 or atleast a 2-0 win to spain.

Will be the game of the tournament so far and a real test of Spains credibility on the big stage, no idea who will come out on top but will definitely be getting up to watch it. May football be the winner as the cliche goes. If I had to make a prediction I suspect Italy will hang tough and come out on top.

No offence my eyetalian friends so dont get ure kleenex out.
But I dont rate Chielini or Panucci as intl quality central defenders. Torres and Villa to cause them too much grief.
Your WC defence was obv much better.

No Pirlo or Gatusso either. Unless Spain cop multiple red cards and injuries vs Greece tonight, they will have too much quality.

Spain 3-1
we dont rate our central defensive pairing either

but as for Pirlo and Gattuso, they are replaceable for this match.

Simple. Gattuso has been out of form anyway, so Ambrosini comes in, straight swap.

Alberto Aquilani will start giving the team an extra weapon going forward, with Simone Perrotta to give support to the forwards and Daniele De Rossi another class midfielder.

Our midfield can match it with Spain, just a case of can our defence handle it.

as for the Spanish, just gotta make sure they dont choke

The defence hasn't been truly tested yet, but Chiellini is truning into a quality defender. Slowly but surely he is getting there. Not bad for being a central defender for one season.

Chiellini's impressed me thus far... at the end of the day, for someone who has had no international experience of this level being his first tournament, he hasn't done himself any harm with the performances in the last 2 games...

No contest, Spain will win and fairly easily unless Marchena falls on the ground, Grosso falls over him in the 90th minute and the ref is stupid enough to give Italy a penalty. If that happens may as well give the Euro Cup to Italy a la 2006.

Just worry about the game. Forget about 2006 (that goes for 2004 and 2002 too)
