Correct me if im wrong MOLON LABE,
but isnt Holland around the 10 mill.
They have won Euro,
been in 2 World cup finals,
make Euro and world cup on a regular basis,
and clubs from Holland have been successful
in all Cup competitions.
No excuses.

In the sweden game although we played like cabernet a freak goal from ibra and then another goalkeeping error for the second goal - conceded 3 goal - 2 mistakes and one great goal.

also with the offside decision for greece, isnt the offside "position" meant to be ruled from where the players feet is and not their chest?

As for all you knockers making little smartarse mistakes and talking crap about new records being set you are absolute :clown: your just trying to find Barossa Pearl to carry on with....

whatever is said, whatever is done, we are a country with a population of 10million, we have the EURO 04 which none of you can ever take away from us ( hurts doesnt it :D ) and we qualified with the most points out of our group, we have one bad tourny you jump over it like idiots

PAIDIA.... Keep our heads high, whatever these clowns say they are just jealous of what we acheived and also peeved that we did... they were all waiting for us to stumble to come out of the bushes to talk their crap.
worst excuse.
australia has a population of 20 mill, and beats india in cricket. population over 1 billion! omg! and we are in front of china in world cup qualifying. population over 1 billion! omg again!

Yeah Australia are doing well arent they.

Its not an excuse...its a fact that a country of 10 million people are current european champions at the 2 biggest sports in the world - yet we still get slagged by everyone.

Quite pathetic.

Candyman, tell me this... how many other sports do holland do really well in, have they also won the euro in basketball? also if you look at the development of soccer and history of soccer in holland compared to Greece i think thats understandable... Greece only in the te past recent years has started good development programs for juniors?

oh by the way Candyman tell me this... and correct me if I'm wrong but in the other thread didnt you say you checked the score on livescore.com ???? You didnt even watch the game you :clown: you are the absolute LAST person that should be commenting in these threads cos u havent got a clue!

Why did they not take Ninis? One of the Panathanaikos fans on this site should be able to tell me what Rehagl was thinking when he didn't pick/play Ninis, he's supposed to be one of those up and coming super stars. Even if he didn't play surely there was enough room in the squad to give him a spot just to get some sort of big tournament experience under his belt. I understand he's young but surely he's the most or at least one of the most promising youngsters in Greek football.

Candyman ,the only greek in the world that didnt support Greece in this Euro.
He is following Holland ,why cause they look good.
Who will it be if they go out.

Look i think the best thing for you to do is go to 55 Currie st. and change your name to
Carlos Rodrigas , your faith to Catholic , and then we will understand why you dont follow
Greece when it comes to international football.
Because really your not GREEK and you've proved that by what you post on here.

P'S While your at it a one way ticket to RIO wouldnt be a bad idea ,it would suit you
completely, Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

When are you going to realise that the Greek national team is not a powerhouse in world football? Only at club level the greeks are starting to make some inroads, but slowly.

If I am correct they have been in the world cup only once and lost all their games (trashed is a better word).

Deservedly won 4 years ago at Euro 04 and then? Why did they not qualify for the 2006 world cup?
One major factor in being called a" powerhouse in world football" is consistency and so far the Greek national team has not demonstrated it yet. If they were as good as they say, they should have at least qualified for the next round of the EC08. Even Spain which are the perennial underachievers, at least qualify for every tournament and tend to go a certain distance (They won Euro 64 if I am correct). Do that and then come back and call Greece a powerful team.

nobody's calling greece a powerhouse u idiot. Greece were the best qualifier for euro 2008 with 31 points, but as we know have failed to progress in the finals, so they are not exactly failures.

On the plus side, greece are a top seed as they are ranked 8th in the world and therefore received a good group for world cup 2010 qualifying. The great thing about being the best qualifier for euro 2008 means, should greece qualify for WC2010, they will have the best overall coefficient heading into the world cup should they see themselves in a position of equal points in a group stage. Tie breakers resort to overall qualifying coefficient from the last 2 tournaments should greece end up on lets say for example 4 points with another nation which will see them through. It's only one option but it is in greeces favour which is good.

if you want, look up on google the criteria for tiebreakers in group stages and you will see the 3rd of 4th option resorts to qualifying coefficient and at this stage, greece are in 1st spot putting them in favour of any possible tiebreaker they may encounter at wc2010 should they qualify. :)

In the past, we have blamed our Football players for their lack of respect for the National Guernsey. Enter Otto Rehaggel, and things changed for the better back in 2002/2003. Under Otto, Greece went onto win against all odds the 2004 Euro, and the man was hailed a hero.

Unfortunately, 4 years on, and the same Hero has turned out to be the villain. Now whilst im not bagging him, because he is the best thing to happen to Greek Football, his choice of players and formation in that 1st game against Sweden is what ultimately cost us progression in Euro 08.

Otto has now learnt his lesson, and we have failed to get out of our group in the Euro. Hopefully now, we can focus our attention to qualifying for the 2010 WC in Sth Africa. Whats done is done, but Greece is now starting to produce some good players that will hold us in good stead for the future, and there is no more pressure on us to perform because of our status of "REIGNING" European Champions, and we can now go back to being the minnows of European Football, and concentrate on getting better and better with our game.

Forget about us getting ripped off against Russia, thats all crap. We had our chances and we didnt take them. Yes Gekas was onside, and yes we should have had a penalty but sometimes you need that element of luck and this time we didnt have it. Sometimes you need to also make your own luck, and in this tournament we certainly didnt make anything.

Time to look forward, and bring on the qualifiers for the WC, after the new EURO champion is crowned :D

Greece were only beaten by a moment of Beckham magic in 2001 remember..

as for the current. Is Rehhagel staying?? I think it would be in Greece's best interests to let him go. This era is over and Greece needs to move on.

Greek clubs are now getting much higher quality coaches, surely the national team would be able to sign a quality foreign coach.

Greece failed to succeed because the team and tactics did not move on ,can't win four years apart with same game concept.

All this racist crap gets on my nerves, we all have thoughts for a country of origin (or our parents) but we are in Australia now. Get the feeling a lot of the posters here (who weren't born overses) would support those countries against Australia. I am UK born and will always support Australia even if they were to play England.
