I made a prediction pre-tournament that they would get knocked out first round. I was right buddy.

to all the decent greeks which is most of you, dont take it as anti-greek
There's a few greek with sour grapes in their mouth and are in denial. If they honestly believed that this current team could progress to the next stage they were seriously delluded. I am a follower of Greek football and even I can see the over-confidence and almost arrogance and dis-respect they took into their 2 group games. As a lot of their supporters unfortunately this greek side was still dreaming of four years ago as opposed to rocking up and playing football today.

i know it isn't an excuse, but did you all se how pathetic the referee and linesman were. Greece had a free kick in first half, and when the ref marched 10 steps to set the russian wall, the russians were standing on the 8th step and the ref didnt make them come back another 2 yards. He just let it go....what a wanker. Foxtel IQ is awesome for rewinding these sort of things. Also a couple of greek offsides which were so marginal(half a boot in it if anything) and the linesman was so quick to call it. Doesn't the benefit of the doubt go to the attacker???? charisteas missed that easy header in first half, and did you all see the easy chance he had at the start of the second half???(setanta didn't show a reply the poofs). how the hell did he not slam that in back of net which would have made for an awesome start to the second half making it 1-1. Nikopolidis is a joke, what is going through his head when he comes off his line is beyond me. He is seriously fucked!

ref also gave many free kicks for nothing and laughed in the face of basinas when he won the ball and the ref gave russia free kick right in front of goal. At the end of the day, the game decided by nikopolidis error, which killed the greek confidence in what probably in my mind would have been a greek win. When yiour keeper constantly lets you down, it is hard to overcome especially with the ref doing you no favours. Ah well, still euro 04 champs, an achievement second to none!

Winning the World cup is bigger than Euro.

of course you would, you suport brazil lol, they cant win the euro lol. the quality in the euro is more concentrated with every team being quality..... in the world cup you can sometimes get away with having a couple easybeats in your group

also forgot to mention, when gekas scored that tap in, which wasn't offside. The referee was seriously on russias side in this game. 2 offsides were given when greece was onside and 1 resulted in a goal which was dissallowed!

it just wasnt greece's tournament. Everything went against us, deflections, shots, and our own players were their own worst enemies with the type of soccer played, but the referee did shaft us in the russia game. The sweden gave was fair in terms of ref however some refs would have given a foul for swedens second goal. The russian game had so many flaws in it from a referees perspective it fucked me off big time.

if anyone saw the game or can download highlights you will see what im talking about. Ref made many aweful decisions in russia greece game. As everybody knows, when everything goes against you from all angles and you get no luck, it is extremely hard to overcome and be successful.

are you a moron?

the whole reason greece does not have a 'powerhouse' in there is because greece was the powerhouse of the group. Wether they really are a powerhouse or not, it does not matter as greece are a top seeded team when it goes into making these qualifying groups.

THAT IS THE WHOLE REASON GREECE HAS A RELATIVELY EASY WORLD CUP 2010 QUALIFYING GROUP. IT COMES DOWN TO FIFA RANKING ON HOW TEAMS ARE SEEDED.

greece were ranked 9th in the world when the groups were drawn, thus giving them a No.1 seed position. Do you understand this? the rest of the lower seeds followed like switzerland and israel and to lower seeds etc.

wether your stupid fat head likes it or not, greece won the euro, and thus earned the right to lead a qualifying group. if greece drops in world ranking over the next 5-6 years, they will no longer be a top seed and you will see them in qualifying groups with the likes of at least one powerhouse like france for example. But for now, while greece is ranked 8th in the world(best ever) they will enjoy the top seed and qualifying groups.

You say its nothing to brag about, but considering you didnt even watch russian game and dont know much about soccer, it is forgiveable for you to say such a dumb statment. Does italy enjoy the fact that they are always ranked within the top 8 and get qualifying groups where they are the better side mixed with lower nations? if course they do, just like greece has had 2 qualifying groups to enjoy recently for euro 2008 and world cup 2010. So its not so much something greece need to brag about, but a luxury they can enjoy by not being put into qualifying groups with italy, france, germany, czech, portugal, spain etc.

and in case you cant comprehend what im saying ill make it easier for you to understand. If Turkey win the euro, and then go on to win many friendlies immediately afterwards and then qualify for world cup 2010, they're ranking will lift from 25(current) to most likely a top 10. This will mean that their qualifying groups for 2012 euro and 2014 world cup will be easier for them being a top seed. ok.

so, your comment about trying to downplay greece achievement by qualifying through an easy group has no credibility and makes you sound like a schoolboy.

olympiakos,PLEASE.
The debate here is,not what is harder to win.
What is a better achievment.
Winning a World Cup,or winning Euro.
If you were a player, which would you want?

I agree like when you got Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago in the World Cup and in Euro you have Italy, Holland and France are in the same group you tell me which is easier.

you took my comment out of context just because your an annoying greek who wants to argue with greeks(you not getting anythign at home???). If i could really be fucked being more detailed, i would say second to none in terms of european championship wins, greece being a total outside rank to come out of nowhere and win the thing. ok

guys u r all not on the same wavelength

candyman argues that winning the world cup is the ultimate achievement in football. (granted, its the holy grail)
the others argue that winning the euro is harder than winning a world cup. (arguable... its harder to qualify for a world cup - if you r in UEFA zone - however it is harder to win a euro. yes there are some crappy teams in world cup, but there are also twice as many teams in world cup. )

its arguable stop calling eachother names, before i delete ur asses off this forum lol
everyone is entitled to my opinion
