Saturday division three:

A's: Comets 1 Salisbury Villa 0
B's: Comets 0 Salisbury Villa 2

The A's was a relatively even game ruined by some creative refereeing. The goal in the last ten minutes and from that point on Salisbury threw everyone forward which made for an interesting finish. Until that point they'd been playing with one up front. They missed one golden opportunity to equalize. Before scoring Comets too had some good chances, mostly blazed wide and one good save by the keeper.

In the reserves they kicked off and played the entire first half with ten men (lack of numbers) but managed to have eleven on the park in the second half. Surprisingly both goals came in the first half. They were unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty but not long after did get a free kick and took it quickly (much like the one I saw at Modbury Jets v African Allstars). This time the goalkeeper was on the ball and made a brilliant save to put the shot out from the corner. Unfortunately for them Villa scored from that corner. Then seconds before half time Comets had an open goal (a tap in from two yards out) and just as he fired the ball got a bad bounce of the turf and it bounced over his foot. To add insult to injury Villa took the goal kick, pumped a hopeful ball into the box at the other end and it bouced over the out rushing keeper leaving the on running striker to head in from the line, 0-2. There were chances at both ends but no shots really tested the Villa keeper. The Comets' keeper made several good saves.

Wanderers 4 Saints 3

Shouldve been 4-0.. Wanderers scored three great goals and a penalty.. Saints were given three goals..
Not bad for having 5 starting players out..

 You're a good laugh mate, no wonder everyone likes Wanderers so much.

Yep you guys were awesome, best side I've ever seen. You may as well enter the Super League when those 5 players come back...

Reserves was Saints 2 Wanderers 1.

I'm sure The Roo can confirm that Wanderers would have been far too good but had 5 players that had to go up to the A's.

well here we go.....

SPOC 3- 4 Wanderers.

It was a very well contested game, and no doubt a good game to watch. My belief was that a draw would have been a fair result. SPOC, in my biased opinion, had more chances than Wanderers did. It took a penalty for them to win it. Once the pen went in and then Galey got sent off we had many chances to draw the game. Credit to the Wanderers for a gritty win and coming from 3-2 down at half time. Also credit to the three goals that were very well taken goals (one cracker from a barbaro, a header from Tossavic, and a well worked goal from the other Barbaro)

Now I can accept the loss, but I cannot accept the manner that it was taken. Im sorry but I should have believed the reports that you are a bunch of whinging coks. I honestly went into the game with a minset that there would be some good, professional blokes playing, and supporting. I just think all the wahooo calls in the changerooms were so immature and if you want to play super league you'd better be a bit bigger than that. Seriously how about you just win games and then be humble with your victories? That would make you guys such a better club!!!

PS.... I loved the banter on the sidelines, and Tossavic was good fun to play against in the midfield!! It bought me back to the Sunday league days!!!

We're not playing cricket MB - players can celebrate in the changerooms after a game in the shower & it wasn't done in front of you or your team mates. Tell me u never celebrated after a hard fought game and a must win for either side - get your hand off it!

Do you guys do anything else at training other than long throws..? given it worked well yesterday, but you surely couldn't rely on that all season to win the title..?

Finally - it was a great contest between two good sides that were leading the comp, I'm sure both coaches saw some great things & some not so great -the return leg should be a cracker for players & supporters, a different ref would be good too :)

I dont know you were watching Monkey Boy, but you were given three goals from three defensive errors... On any other day you wouldve never had got them.. What chances did you have? Everytime you booted the ball forward or threw 40 metres thats a chance? Youve only really got one player whose semi dangerous, he's quick but he's no brains, the rest are big planks...
I thought you might like the post game celebrations, that was me...

These words from a bloke who came on here celebrating his hand ball on the line and his foul on the keeper after narrowly winning a game.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:

Colossus: One House

Costa: One Lunch

Oh and add in

Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

I've been critical of Jets in the past but I must say after yesterday's game, they have changed their mindset. A great bunch of blokes in the B's, and I enjoyed the battle especially my goal. As for that offside, i still feel that I was played onside by the left back, he was moving away from goal and I was to it. With that momentum I looked well off when I recieved the ball but onside when it was kicked.

A good atmosphere for the A's game, with a few of our players taking some stick but nothing nasty there, well not what I heard anyway.

Crowd in the B's was a lot lower (obviously) but did like the positive comments given to me by the ladies sat at the end with blankets over them. All in all, disappointed with the results felt we deserved the win in the B's and the draw in the A's but not to be.

Oh and how many of your lot are on this forum, almost all of your players calling me by name

thought of something else, a very good club ref. Probably didn't play enough advantage for my liking but very good.

You've got a very interesting definition of defensive errors, I think most would call it poor defending. Not quite sure how a nice cross and headed goal could be put down as defensive error or your left back getting well and truly beaten for the 3rd goal was either. Not being able to clear a long throw is definitely poor defending.

I suppose every goal you've conceded this year has been from defensive errors, you guys are so awesome no one could be good enough to out play you to score

Comets 1 Salisbury Villa 0
scorer: 23 Kalogeridis '85

Game started at a frantic pace with Comets enjoying majority of possession in the first 25 minutes but lacking that final ball to the strikers. Villa seemed content on playing for a defensive game and hitting Comets on the counter. Villa had the better of the chances in the first but were let down by their number 10 who was sent off about 40 minutes in(prob harsh second yellow but was told one more and you're gone). The second half was pretty much the same with Comets pushing hard for the goal. The balls were much better to the strikers and the chances were coming. Villa then sent on they're player coach who was telling his players to et the ball run out and waste time with 20 minutes to go. With around 5 minutes to go Comets scored and the game stepped up to a quicker pace and Villa opened up more and more. Overall a good game and prob a tough one for the ref. Good luck to the boys from Salisbury Villa good bunch of lads with funny supporters (try work better on your insults though guys lol). Bodo were you the guy who was wearing the hood standing square in the middle?
