Group D: Spain v Russia

Post by Missing Post Count »

Spain have never lost to Russia, although they have only lost to the then the USSR once before – this came back in May 1971 in a European Championship qualifier away from home.
Spain managed to defeat Russia in the last European Championships in Portugal in 2004. Juan Carlos Valeron found the net in the only goal on the game in their group fixture.
Russia have failed to find the net in their last three matches against Spain.
Spain have only conceded one goal in their last six games against the Russians.

Is Raul gonna score a goal on holiday playing beach soccer??...

0-0
Russians will be too hard to break down. And this Spanish side will be the perrenial example why club form for individuals doesnt equal collective form for a nation.

i still believe that Spain have the best squad after portugal at this euro.

they'll win 2-0, but comfterably, never pushed too hard by russia.

fabregas and torres too score.
xavi to play well.

I'm watching this match on ESPN2 using TVplayer streaming on line and the commentator (same English one we get in OZ ESPN, Not Tommy Smith) His first comments during the Russian national anthem he said "some may say Russia are lucky to be here"
 Only him and the other English world wide. Not a dig at the English, just find the comments to be baseless as the qualified regardless of who they beat.

Spain seem to defend very well and they will need to with Russia attacking constantly and Spain only on the break, great game so far.

All Russia then a great fast break from a Russian set piece by Iniesta to feed Villa again.

Seems a feature of the Euro's, Set piece at one end and fast break for a goal at the other, abit like last night.

he's 4 years older and torres did all the hard work to set up his first goal. Torres has scored 31 goals in all competitions this year. Villa scored 19 in all comps.

yes, but my point is : David Villa scored more goals than Torres in International level ... I never said Torres is sh1t ....

P/S: I ALWAYS RATE TORRES EVEN THOUGH HE PLAY FOR POOL .. AND I RATE HIM WHEN HE PLAY FOR ATH MADRID AS WELL !!

They'll get back into it, just remember the infamous fade out of 2004 in the group stage by spain. Greece were getting smashed even though the scoreline said 1-0 down at half time. 2nd half spain went to sleep and greece got the equaliser and almost the winner.
