After we beat Portugal (the hosts who had not lost at their ground for something like 80 years) in the first game, I thought we had a great team.

After we beat France (the defending Euro champions at the time) in the quarters, I thought we had a cracker of a team and had a real chance of winning it.

After we beat Check rep (the tournament favourites) in the semis, I thought we were the real deal and had every chance of being champions.

After we beat Portugal (the hosts for a second time) in the final, it was around then I was confident of being champions of Europe.

At this point I realised that stars/champions of the game Nedved, Zidane, Henri, Ronaldo and Figo had all experienced another prized trophy they could cherish in their illustrious careers, a good gamisi from a group of Ellines.
