south coast v black eagles abandoned. what now ?

Post by mahluf »

1-1 in second half when pitch invaded. anyone know what happened?
what will the league do about it?
options
let score stand
replay
give neither side a point
deduct points from one or both teams
suspend one or both teams
do nothing
we await with interest
any opinions?

Which team had fans invade first? Two weeks ago the cup tie between Black Eagles and Simba Of Congo was abandoned after the Eagles had a player sent off for punching an opponent, then refused to leave and intent to fight on. The Black Eagles fans ran on to the pitch and got involved before Congo fans ran on to protect their players.

The A team tie against Fc Adelaide didn't go ahead after the referee abandoned the B team game and left the scene.

need more info...
both teams have now had this sort of thing happen this season - south coast v aguila earlier this year and black eagles in the cup game last week (what happened to the league's tough stance on fighting that made the headlines late last season???)
so without hearing the full story i wont make assumptions but i also think it will be interesting to see what the league does...
in my opinion, if clubs (in this case the two clubs in question) consistently put the opposition teams are at risk of being physically assaulted by their supporters then they should be kicked out. simple as that.

Agree with you on two points.

Firstly need more info because no-one who was there has said anything, but I do know what happened at the cup game. Secondly the league has to make a tough stance.

what will be interesting is how they will treat these two teams as opposed to the 2 first div teams.......

does it work along the same lines as the eurovision contest???? that is which ever club can guarentee votes at the next AGM will be looked upon favourably????

just goes to show that you'll never make a good politician.

i believe every individual over 18 also has one vote. but somehow if a political party can muster a majoity they form govt.

maybe one, two or even more clubs have the ability to influence how other clubs vote!!!!!

I understand fully why your cousins (RB & MB) aren't keen on playing out there this season.

I may not agree totally with the Fu*k em bit, but the comment about the refs is exactly what I said in the Gardens florina game. not pointing at any team but the league needs to stamp on this hard regardless of who (And as stated before take some credit to who started what and if teams have good behaviour). Hit clubs where it hurts fines and suspensions. Then put conditions on.

If the game is to keep growing this sort of sh*t needs to stop. as one said before this is why people don't go! If I want to watch a punch up I would go to the footie or rugy for that. Handbags or not thisis bollocks.

It would appear that this is both teams second offence (i didn't know that about South Coast).

Why would referees want to ref these teams knowing that it could happen? $70 is not enough money to get the shit kicked out of you.

Why would teams want to play these teams, knowing that their players are not in safe environment. I think we can all accept when playing that injuries occur, but surely that doesn't include taking a smack from a "supporter".

On the other side though, we do not know the circumstances of this one (or the previous south coast one) but a neutral tells us Black Eagles were to blame last week, if the same this week then kick them out. No room for that in football. OH AND!! none of this coming back next season called the Blak Eagles, if the players are the same or the committee is the same, then it's the same team.

Totally agree.

This has been a problem for too many years and needs to stop. As you say changing names by what ever way does not count as changing.

Come on SAAFL Show some guts now and deal with problem teams/ supporters.

Far too many people are jumping the gun

The only facts we know are

Both Black Eagles and South Coast have had 2 (not 100% sure that South Coast have definitely had 2) games abondoned this year - it would appear due to pitch invasions

From memory Aguila are no angels

I have played against South Coast many times and they are our close rivals - their supporters aren't the type to run on a pitch (despite there being a number of on field fights bewteen our two clubs) unless the other teams supporters did first

I hope that most clubs supporters would run on the pitch to protect their players from assualted

Not sure that's what happened but not sure it didn't

South Coast have had 1 (only this weeks) game abandoned. The game vs Aguila wasn't abandoned but from what I know there was pushing and shoving and supporters on the pitch... I don't know the extent of it (i.e. whether there were punches thrown etc. but wouldn't surprise me). That was a South Coast home game as well.

Black Eagles reserves had a game abandoned last week in the cup and their A's game didn't go ahead because of the same incident. This weeks game is their second abandoned match.

Let's not forget last season's incident where Black Eagles supporters stormed the pitch vs Gawler. Gawler's female linesman was punched in the head and ended up with a broken nose. One of the supporters from that incident was sent back to albania because he had a hammer on him!!

Then there was the incident last year in the game vs our club where a Black Eagles player slapped the referee. After the game the referee said "he was too affraid to send him off because he thought he would get bashed up". My understanding is that this referee is a senior person within SAASL.

It's definitely not the first time for either team...

Unfortunately there are a few "new" arrivals that play there who still have the village mentality, and I dont think they have quite grasped that if someone has a go at you here, its no big deal. Its a culture thing. Over there in Albania if you say the "wrong thing" they'll knife ya. What you may think is not an insult here, is to them. I am not defending what they do etc because after all, its up to those in the club who have been here much longer to take the lead, so to speak. The pity is I know quite a few of those at the club and many of them are real good blokes. However, its a shame, that, as with many clubs, a minority spoil it for the rest.
I guess the powers that be will come up with an appropriate punishment.

i was in melbourne for the black eagles game so cant comment.
south coast game was pretty clean... apart from a couple of 'rough' contests here and there... nothing major.

during last years game at our ground i tackled a south coast player (didn't touch him or the ball - he passed it off just before i got to him)... anyway i ended up slipping and fell on the ground on my back... the ball was now quite far away so the ref had his back turned towards me and the south coast player. next thing i know, this idiot felt it would be appropriate to walk over me and stomped on my chest with his studs... so that resulted in a little bit of a scuffle because a couple of my players noticed it and came to my aid. the result was a few stud marks on my chest for a week and a free kick to south coast!!!

lost to black eagles 1 : 0. i was told they scored with their only 'serious' attack of the day... i hear they did something similar vs you guys.

lost to south coast as well... 2 : 1. we were the better team on the day, had possession for a large part of the game but just couldn't score. sort of like the farm on the weekend... except i didnt come here calling south coast shit hehe

i am confident we will beat both teams in the return legs. as well as athelstone... ;)

hear of a lot of run ons......time to get a fence plan in place.
give clubs 3-4 years to fence their grounds off right around.

wont stop the really crazy ones, but might stop 70-80% of pitch invasions.

Let's see now........If i recall Vikings & Croatia both were suspended for 2 games last year for a fight during the game which resulted in a fight with spectators and players.
The league used these 2 teams as guinea pigs and punished them both before introducing this new policy of ''fair go''!
There have been over 5 games which have had exactly the same result with fights and the league has done NOTHING!
The SAASL are a bunch of clowns that dont know how to run a competition and need to make the rules fair for all!!
These 2 teams from last year were unfairly treated if nothing gets done!

SAASL must act.

This is 2 weeks in a row for Black Eagles. This indicates to me that either SAASL did absolutely nothing with respect to the cup game or they did something are were completely ignored by the club.

I read in this thread that they assaulted an official last year in multiple games? Are you kidding me? By allowing Black Eagles to continue, SAASL are sanctioning this behaviour. Surely SAASL know there is an issue here and are just plain negligent by not acting.

I hear that the SAASL are using a new experimental approach by which they "do nothing".

Hopeful outcomes range from karma getting them, their fists getting too worn out from fighting that they have to pack it in, or players voluntarily starting a program where they swap fights for hugs.
