A's Brahma Lodge 4 v Munno Para 1 (1-1)
B's Brahma Lodge 2 v Munno Para 3 (2-1)
C's Brahma Lodge 3 v Munno Para 2 (2-0)

The Lodge's home ground has never really been a happy hunting ground for Para and with news that both the B's and the A's would be well down on personnel and seeing the all conquering C's surrender a 2-0 lead certainly wasn't a good start.

The Para B's jumped out of the blocks to score a quick goal (and a second that was awarded and then cancelled as the ref used a ridiculous flag waving linesman to change his mind). After about the first 10 minutes however, Para stopped and the Lodge got on top and scored two good goals to go into half time 2-1 up.

The second half started as a bit of an arm wrestle, but Para slowly got on top and enjoyed a larger slice of the possesion and posted a good come from behind win.

The A's started in a similar fashion with Para going 1-0 up early. The first half was a pretty even affair with both sides having some good chances and the Lodge got one back with a good half-volley just before half time.

The second half was a little too "deja vu" with the cup round for Para's liking. Very even second half for about the first half hour, a break through goal for the lodge, and then cue the muppet music. The third goal was a forgettable mistake on a backpass, and the fourth a well taken strike and follow up on a one on one with the keeper on the break after Para were overcommitted up the ground.

A very good win for the Lodge, can't wait for the return leg lads. It is suprising that the Lodge are sitting where they are on the table and one would expect them to climb a few places before the end of the year.

To the bloke in the red hooded jumper and the Scottish bloke in the Celtic shirt, banter and getting stuck into the opposition supporters when you are winning is all good, but I am not sure that you need to continually use the "F" and "C" bombs when there were a lot of young kids around. Disappointing.

That is a fair description of the games today. 4-1 may be slightly flattering but Brahma definitely deserving winners in the A's.

As for shouting obscenities, in the first half when you were briefly winning your crowd(one individual in particular) where doing it non stop.
I was actually standing up the Brahma end for most of the first half so I am not sure who that was, but if I was there I certainly would have said something. I know that when a few beers and a game with a lot of feeling mix anyone can get a little carried away with colourful nouns, but when there are little kids around I am of the opinion that a little reminder is probably warranted. As for those two lads I was standing right near them and one of the mums actually asked them really nicely if they could relax the language a little to which they took no notice and I guess that was the most disappointing part. It certainly is not a mark against your club, we have had a lot of history with you guys and it always gets passionate and vocal (which is great) but never has the dramas that other clubs sometimes experience.

Just face it boys.... both of your supporters are ferral and a disgrace to your clubs. :clown:

Story of the season for us mate, cant put in 90mins, always chasing the game. Sure you missed a few chances but you were there creating the opportunities - big week on the track this week and hopefully can turn it around - going to be a long season otherwise.

fair write ups there, great day out for us, finally!

The Lodge v Para games are always passionate games, and the supporters get just as pumped as the players. Bad language from 2 people in a crowd of about 150. Meh

As for 'Go You Reds'. thanks for your input. Atleast we have supporters

West beach had their first win for the season at home to Para hills east. Well deserved win for the lads coming off a series of draws.
One nil up at half time, Para draw early in the second half and looked like making a game of it.
Beach pushed forward straight away and the flood gates opened. Entertaining second half, some really nice goals by beach, looked really good pushing the ball around and should give the Pontians a good game this week.

good to see West beach giving div 1 a go. Many predicting them to be relegated. Long way to go and they look like they might prove a few people wrong.
Well done beach.

Congrats to West Beach for their first win in Div 1 for many many years. Also congrats to the C team for getting their first win for the season as well. It was just the B's who let the club down :) in getting their first trifecta for the season.

Reserves Sun div2

Grove 2 Fulham 3

Tough well fought out game for Fulham considering the ref was legally blind! Fulham got up early from an own goal after an all out attacking assault from Grove in the first 15 minutes. It didn't take long for Grove to equalize and scores were locked at 1-1 half time. 10 minutes into the second Grove pulled in front from a through ball and put Fulham on the back foot at 2-1. A corner piece from Fulham saw a header tipped over the bar with a fantastic save by Groves keeper. The corner was re-taken and saw Fulham equalize with a nice left foot strike. After some reshuffling from both sides Fulhams winner came after a defensive blunder from Grove which saw a pass intercepted with a nice 1, 2 that forced the keeper off his line and saw Fulham squeeze in a tight one.

All up it was a good to get a winning result away from home against a quality and physical side. Surprising to see Grove at the bottom half of the table with the effort they put in.

Yeah was a fair tough encounter once again was a good game to watch. Referee was shocking whats the point in having a linesman the referee doesn't listen to the linesman half the time and when he does it was wrong.... but thats no excuse for Munno Para's loss, the defense fell to pieces in the end and after the third or even second goal it was like Para didn't believe they could get a result.

The return leg will be a great game to watch.

mackem in blue wrote:gleeson would be happy with a point against jets considering how many players they had missing that went over for the juve v melbourne victory game. salisbury inter on absolute fire so far. modbury vista had a few out against raptors and struggled by the sounds of things. downs went 2 nil up and tried to kick the vale off the park, vale kept playing good football and the goals came. lucky for the downs if westies managed to get over the farm in the end. two regular goal scorers for the gardens both firing will see an interesting looking table at the end of round 7. congrats on your under 10's win against ttg football lad
Gleeson have had numerous players out on and off for the last 6 weeks, honeymoon, broken leg, broken toe, 2 torn hammys, weddings... the list goes on.

But having said that, saturdays game was by far the best team game gleeson have played since st peters in the 1st round. Full credit to modbury who fought hard all game.. A few players in different positions on sat seemed to work well for the team, 1 or 2 playing completely out of position, but i doubt a neutral spectator couldve identified who they were.

I'd say gleeson had the better chances to win it, but they didnt come off on the day, thats football.

Overall, very good starting point for gleeson to build on, having not played that well the past couple weeks..6 points from the next 2 games will see us in a good position for the turnaround.
If gleeson replicate the weekends performance they will have no problems accounting for bosa and navorino.
I don't believe in God but i'm afraid of him

first off, k-man, nice goal. think a bit of luck too maybe? but a cracker nonetheless.
a's for most was a lot tighter than the scoreline would suggest, i think it really only became more or less one way traffic after our second goal.
b's i think you lost it at half time. watchin while linesmanning isnt my strongest point but it seemed to me you came out just happy to play around with the ball almost pointlessly for first ten fifteen minutes of second half. almost as if came out happy with trying to hold on to the one nil?

couldnt make it out to watch my beloved raptors. i was getting updates while at work and gotta admit it did shock me.....but then again they have been threaten to slaughter sides. ..i bet they cant wait for inter and fulham....good test!

bad news about the prez i'm sure he's whipping up some remedy to back in 2 weeks....true legend and i can only imagine the player he was in his 20's. he starred in pirie and whyalla.... he was brought up diving on rocks just to score a goal. Supports and liverpool and the crows and will call you everyday to talk soccer. wish you a speedy recovery arti...shouldve been your left leg , you dont use that.

great news to hear Maxi's silky skills were on diplay in the A's cany wait to train this week ....finally!

Mega look forward to chatting with you while in line to take shots ...i hear some of students got a preview of Mega's coaching abilities? very impressive i hear.

"on holiday".....what a captain.......organisers his wedding after afl grand final and raptors season.....need is ay more.

colossus- i hope you not eyeing out players for a premier league side?......what are your thoughts on how the raptors are run? its proving to be a fast growing club with a good reputation and loads of potential for those willing to volunteer their time.

C's was 6-2, TA. First team travelling very nicely at the moment, as are the reserves. Both will be sitting on top of the table after 7 games. C team coming together so far this year aswell and getting some wins on the board.

Dont like to put a dampner on what was a great day for the club, but there was a certain player from BOSNA in the reserves match who headbutted and spat on one of the Inter lads after the final whistle. There was a bit of ribbing going on between the two lads during the game, but the unsportsmanlike and discraceful actions that happened after the final whistle was a discrage to that individual from BOSNA. You are a discrace to your club and the amature league!

In the first team, the Grove helping Inter by drawing with Fulham. Fulham V Inter next week, should be a great game!
The Club is always bigger and more important than any individual player.

Hey govilla, you've probably already found out about the other Sat Div 2 results, but the Sturt results were both huge victories to the As and Bs (away to Hahndorf), think it was 8-0 to the As and 6-0 to the Bs or something silly like that. The Sturt Cs beat Stirling Cs (Sat Div 5) in a bit of a grudge match, seeing as Sturt poached half the Stirling side and coaching staff from last year, and the As and Bs don't get to play each other, this season at least!

Pontians 3-0 up with 20 to go and were lucky to snatch a point in the end IMO. After they copped the first goal they just fell in a hole and started arguing amongst themselves with their prez and with anyone within earshot. They should really count their lucky stars that elliot hit the post with the last kick of the gameor it could've been an embarassing day for them

IMO Pontians had the game wrapped up. Two own goals late in the game saved Florina. Yes Elliot did hit the post but whether it was at the death or at the start shouldnt matter. At 3-0 it should of been over and wasnt. Better luck next time.

Own Goals :?: :?:  Goals credited to Elliott and Clemente on the team sheet and i dont think they play for Pontians.

IMO i think the Post saved the Pontians on sunday :D

Anyway good luck for the season.
