yea but the guy with the bright boots filled the void nicely
and if u really think about it barra there were three missing when you add in the 'morganator'
So going by the ludicrous statements above, Saturday better than Sunday.

Cove 3 Modbury Vista 1
Interesting match. Cove 1 up inside first 30 seconds with the only touch for Modbury coming off a defender to go in the goal. Five minutes later Cove 2 up with another bit of calamitous defending. However, for the best part of the rest of the half it was an even contest. Modbury had the bulk of possession in the opening part of the second half, but really lacked killer punch up front. Cove scored the third with Modbury down to 10 men due to injuries, the home side having the one-man advantage for about five minutes. Cove then went down to 10 men directly after the goal again due to injury. Modbury scored with the last kick of the match.
Fair description of the Vista game, only difference we were down to 10 men a tad longer than five mins, not that it mattered as Vista lacked punch, well noted. Cove did what they needed to do, that was relax and allow 87 mins to slowly pass by as being 2-0 after 3 mins was a killa blow. No excuses for Vista today, doesn't matter we had no subs or down to 10 men, you conceed 2 goals in 3 mins of starting the game, ur pushing shite up hill for the rest of the game,
You go on the p*ss all day, you've ballooned out like the Pillsbury Doughboy!
You could go to jail for this! What sort of system am I going to play then? Three across the middle and one in bloody Pentonville? *Mike Basset*
swannsong wrote:Southern Knights ( 2 ) Pontian Eagles ( 3 )
Could have gone either way, very attacking game.
Pontians went a goal up mid way through the first half.
Theo Anastasiou a few minutes later argued with the referee about an offside decision and was booked.
He continued arguing and received a second yellow and was ordered from the field.
Pontians however went further ahead a few minutes later and led 0-2 at half time.
Southern Knights pulled a goal back and began to take advantage of their spare man.
Midway through the second half Pontians netted again to stretch their lead back to 2 goals.
With about 10 minutes to go Southern Knights were awarded a penalty which they scored to make it 2-3.
Knights had plenty of opportunities to level the score but ran out of time.
A good fair summary, didn't think Pontians were as good as last year, but probably like us missing a few players. Very attacking game and your right could have gone either way, Pontian keeper made a few good saves and we missed a "gimmie" with only a few minutes to go.
Although we lost was a good enjoyable game to watch

Agreed that losing two goals in the opening few minutes was a terrible start and that doesnt help to win the game.... the main things that vista can take away from this game are:
1:preperation - 2 or 3 of the players seemed a bit off the pace and i dont know whether that was due to a friday night bender or their first Saturday game in a long time.......
2:teamwork - although vista went 2-0 down they stuck together as a team and played at times some very positive looking football.
3:knowledge - a game goes for 90 minutes and when vista settled down in my opinion they controlled the last 15 minutes having most of the chances in front of goal.
It is the same old story from vista this week.... conceeded too many too early and had to go two nil down to start playing. This is no excuse and if the best reason you can give for only having 12 men show to the game is work or injuries then there is something severely wrong. The game was played in very high spirits and i thought the ref by the way did an outstanding job controlling the game. Vista have some thinking to do about the way they play if they want to stay up this year. The Cove wont make it past round 3 of the cup.

Not the day I had planned. What coach makes an unforced double substitution in the 28th minute of a cup tie with his side leading 2-0? That's what the Simba Of Congo coach did today. Had it gone to extra time it could have left them with no fresh legs. Some of the Congolese players have indivdual skill and can run as fast as hell, with a bit of education (football education) this team coud be so much better. They led 2-0 at half time and made it 3-0 in the second half. On the hour mark they were reduced to ten men after a two footed lunge with feet in the air saw a straight red card. Actually it was the third or fourth such tackle that I saw and probably would be corrected with a bit of football education and discipline. The play was dangerous and there can be no arguments with the decision. Black Eagles were also reduced to ten men when they had a player receive his second yellow card, something he probably should have got sooner. They did pull one goal back before conceeding a penalty. The linesman put his flag up for offside (it wasn't), it was a foul and just inside the box. Good decision. The keeper saved the original spot kick and as he moved off his line before it was kicked it was ordered to be retaken, to which said linesman turned to me and asked what that was for. I had to explain to their other linesman that you can't be offside on a goalkick earlier in the game. The keeper moved off his line for the retaken spot kick but despite getting a hand to it couldn't keep it out. Not long later a scuffle in the box down the other end resulted in a Black Eagles' player throwing a punch at one of the Simba players and he too got his marching orders. He's only been on the park for about ten minutes, refused to leave, more fighting broke out. The Eagles' fans (?) ran on the pitch to join in and the Simba fans ran on too. The referee couldn't control it and and abandoned the game. He also refused to do the second game. 35 minutes had been played after a 40 minute first half so there was probably only five minutes left to play, but that doesn't excuse the actions of the Black Eagles.
Without a referee it looked as though the Eagles v Fc Adelaide game wouldn't go ahead so I didn't hang around. Angle Vale isn't too far from there so I thought to look at some of the grounds in that area (didn't have the exact details with me, just a fixture list) and stumbled across the Bosna v Elizabeth Vale game about to kick off so I stayed for that. Some Fc Adelaide players rocked up there later and they confirmed their game didn't go ahead. Interesting to see what happens with their tie.
Bosna v Vale was mild compared to all that, but it was good game to watch. Vale were the better side on the day and the 1-3 scoreline was just about right.
I know a few out there. I know that if anything ever starts, it usually turns into an all-in affair. Unfortunately there are some short fuses there. One of the reasons my nephew has chosen not to play there at the moment. But not so much for the tempers, more so that they tend to argue amongst themselves more than anyone else. The pity is they actually do have a few good players.
I suspect the games will be awarded to the opposition, if history is anything to go by.
How did Orange Peeler go? He was absolutely hammered Saturday night at the Farm, I remember carrying him to the car. I can't believe he actually played.

I would expect them both to be awarded to the opposition. One of the Fc Adelaide players did say "I did not 'not go out on saturday night' and stay at home so I could not play sunday", but I don't blame the referee for not hanging around. I didn't notice any stand out players yesterday, but having said that I only got to see the reserves play.

very close game in the end, polonia very unlucky to not score.
Lion unlucky not to score 10. Anyhow you guys fought it out well. Well done to Djoko (2nd half keeper) and myself (first half) who kept a clean sheet for the A's, first time this year. It was good the B's lost because alot of them got the chance for some first team experience. Djoko was class in goals, he saved a tough freekick that went straight at him.

Firstly apologies to ???? for saying that Maco's are div 2, I realised once I posted and looked up your address on the league website (i'd probably have taken the compliment that I thought you were obviously better than what are?)....
Maco's 0 - 3 Wanderers.
So I popped out and watched the first half of this game. Wanderers looked quite good for the majority of the game with some good football and inventive plays with the Barbaro boys playing up the field. I think it was Sam B, maybe both, got absolutely belted by maco's players numerous times and I thought surely a defender would be sent off - Did any end up going?
Wanderers were a very solid side and it will take a very good side to stop them this year. Cant wait to play them later on in the year.....
yep one did, they went for the man all day long, and the language from there supporters was fantastic

Wish I had seen this one. A great result for the lads.
Your C's??? are miles better than our ressies. Having said that i think you were awarded 4or5 penaltys and two of our players were sent off for back chatting (being knobheads).

I spoke to Mr Bill Bailey last night. More than likely our cup game against Black Eagles will be rescheduled to a mid-week night match.
