This is the Amatuer League for Gods sake fellas, your supposed to enjoy your Football. Go join the World Boxing Association if you have the urge to have punch ups.

Deduct 10 points off both teams, then see whether they ever fight again

not sure how accurate tis statement is? But any association that deals with all in brawls or brawls in general is going to better the game. As most have said the league needs to punish both clubs hard, eg points away etc. If spectators ran on and is proven then club fined heavily and especially if this is hit at the top clubs the lower ones may take notice. For too long the amature league has been a bubbling pool of talent which is going nowhere because of a minor few (players / spectators and clubs) Hard action will bring the sport a better name, quality players down when finishing in the 'top leageus', more spectators and lastly, hopefully more chances of the SAAFL of recruiting more refs, becasue seriously why would anyone want to ref is this league? No protection, no support and litte in the way of incentive to do this except for the love of the game.

Maybe SAAFL should do what the SANFL does and send umpires or in our case refs down from the top leageus on Saturday to ref or help ref on Sunday. This would provide more refs (hopefully better qualified refs) and more chance of there being more than one ref at a game to ensure no trouble.

Just a thought?

Adelaidepie Julian
Your a fool. You don't even know what happened? For all you know it was hand bags at 50 paces. Have u been to an Amauter Aussie Rules game lately? There are plenty of punches and fights that go on. Besides this had nothing to do with the Ref, only the players and a handful of specators.

Again, until we hear the Florina version, the Gardens version and the refs report, no one can really make a call like that. 10 points is stupid.

I think that it will be a suspended sentance and possibly a fine to Gardens. A warning to Florina. I only say that cause I have spoken to both Gardens and Florina members who have givern me their version.
A suspended sentance??? Come on Jay...... look at what happened to croatia and Vikings last year... a minor scuffle caused the idiots at HQ to suspend those teams for two and three games..... Where is the justice in that??
From what i have heard, this altication was alot more severe then the cro/vik one.
The league came out and stated that this year POINTS will be deducted from teams and spectators fighting...... very unfair!

Again, thats what you hear, its not necessarily the truth.

So until we see the refs report, its hard to say.

Have heard that Parafield Gardens have been hit with a $500 dollar bond for the rest of the season and if a incident like this happens again then they lose their bond and 6 pionts   ! And a Parafield supporter has been banned for the rest of the season. If this is true and correct (which I think it is ) this is a very soft attitude by the SAASL. So what they have to do now (with this decision) is slap a bond on every club that this happens to from here on  . Why why why do the league do this... they say they are going to come down hard on clubs with pitch invasions with point deductions then give a slap on the wrist ! Come on SAASL!!! set a standard that is going to make everyone else take notice of !! Be interesting from here on eo see what happens now if another club is in the same boat    !!! Very very soft     !! I think they should re think their desicion !!!

Not hard at all, if the ref knows he's banned then he controls it. Whether he bothers is another matter.

3 what did the gutless supporters of gardens get that ran on nothing..what happens on the park is between the players and the refs..not for supporters to decide.

If you look on previous posts you will see that the supporter got suspenede for rest of season. So that makes 12 games (more than nothing) vs your 3. What punishment has your club put on the goalkeeper Id say nothing just a congratulations for only getting 3 games. Now who is gutless? Its time clubs start inforcing their own codes of conduct (if they have them) instead of leaving it to the league. And if players want things to stay on the park then maybe they should too.

Sorry state of affairs if this is the final outcome. Sets a precedent for all others to use in certain circumstances. For example City are 2 up in the cup semis and are under the pump from United. City have just had their captain sent off. United score a dubious penalty. Plan B rush the field from the opposition side and cause mayhem. Game off. Result stands, suspended sentance. Happy Days were in the final. Sorry not good enough. Does nothing to back up referees and would be suprised if refs association would be happy with final outcome.

Until yesterday I had only heard of such incidents second hand, but yesterday did witness a game being abandoned first half. It hasn't got the attention this game has as yet, but I'm very keen to see what SAASL decided to do with it, and the subsequent follwing tie that didn't go ahead as a result of it.

Totally agree, it needs to be re thought, as a precident has been set now if it stands (in which case I think it has)!! As said above, whats to stop this happening !!

3 games is an absolute joke ! when a keeper is running around knocking our players out it will obviously incite anger, our supporter/player has been suspended for the rest of the season and has copped it sweet, florina obviously have friends in high places!

The league should harden the fuck up, if a team causes a brawl they should be either thrown out or massive points deduction. The ref should be able to tell the league who caused it and what happened and be fully confident that his opinion will be backed up with some balls rather than a slap on the wrist.
Some days you play teams whos supporters genuinly look like they just want to have afight. We played cougars last year and some big dumb ass (he might be the coach this year) said he would give anyone a hundred bucks if they would fight him, (it was during the game so we only had a couple of young guys on the bench who he obviously thought he could intimidate). Also last year we played Gryphons and there wasa big fat wanker that was just trying to start something all day.
Kick the fuckers out the league. make it better for everyone.

We all know that the league are spineless and will not do anything. Simliarly if they actually cared about the league they would do something with the cool Million they have in the bank rather than send the over 35's, I mean state team, to all over the country. But they simply dont care.

Does this open the debate for the amateur league to actually join a 'professional' setup like the FFSA?

so what has your club inforced on the other half a dozen of supporters who stormed the pitch..???
when a keeper is running around knocking our players out it will obviously incite anger
how can he knock out player(s) when he hit the instigator who elbowed and then was jumped by your supporters??

i didn't see any knocked out players only supporters stopping you from scoring an equaliser hence abandoned game and refs report not in favour of your team...

Jay.

Read first my comments were

'If spectators ran on and is proven then club fined heavily and especially if this is hit at the top clubs the lower ones may take notice'.

So quite clearly i did not indicate whether I was at the game. To say the Aussie rules games have fights means what? Nothing, I don't care if they beat each other to a fig leaf I am not talking about them and that is their sport. I am saying, that the soccer code, needs, if happening, and it has been since Adam was a boy ,to stop the all in fights / hand bags and or spectators running on to the ground, sh*t which pulls this game down.

The Saturday and Sunday soccer could be very good and have enjoyable games to watch and do, but and this is the but, some teams / spectators and or individuals ruin it for all. No club should be happy if their fans running onto the pitch for 'handbags' nor should fans be happy to see 'handbags' going on. It can and does happen. The problem is it is a regular occurance in amatuer league and could be reduced considerably by the 'league' stamping on clubs early to stop all this rubbish.

I've heard the old 'we look out for our own', and so you should', but does that mean everytime a mistimed challenge takes place handbags should be brought out? no and if the clubs and spectators know that the amatuer league are going to stamp on clubs who have players punching people then this would surely be better for the game and all clubs, but to do this they the amatuer league need to get tough now and an example needs to be set. Whethe 10 points or 4 points makes no difference just they need to start getting tough on the offenders which is the point I was making. Not just take points of because ot looks good.

I cant remember Gardens ever having trouble like this before.. so I guess this was taken into equation. They have been a top flight club for years with little or no incidents... well that I know of anyhow..

Maybe clubs that are repeat offenders are dealt more harshly.

I think the league needs to have as part of their rules a minimum punishment for a crowd member(s) come onto the pitch and all clubs should be let known what that penalty will be..

Clubs also need to enforce a code of conduct of their own and be accountable for their own supporters
