Congratulations Adelaide City U13's

Post by Dr.D »

I don't often get the opportunity to watch any juniors play, but was lucky enough to go along last night to watch Adelaide City's U13's take on South Adelaide Pink Panthers.

The way those young girls play is a testament to their clubs development programs and their parents and coaches efforts. Watching them gives me huge confidence for the future of women's soccer in SA. The skills and vision of play from 11 and 12 year olds was extremely impressive and the game was a close 2-1 win to City.

Well done to the girls from both teams! Can't wait for some of those girls to join the senior soccer circuit!!

Yeah they're so feisty at that age, and these kids had no fear, it was great to watch, they were heading the ball and everything!!! They'd put some Div 3 teams to shame with their skills :D

the AU u11s will be ones to watch, only lost a couple of games last year in U11s comp and won the rest, they were 9 year olds, imagine them this year as 10 yer olds!

but in the end of the day development is the key more the winning! and getting more kids of both genders to play the wonderful game of soccer!

I heard about that game, unlucky.... And a bummer the Fulham youngsters got beaten like that, it sucks when you're learning, but hopefully they'll be tougher for the experience of playing above their age group and it will benefit them when they're older....

Anybody who has not seen a juniors game for a while would be pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of the young players now coming through the system.
You could go to a girls football match at almost any local club and see players who should have a very bright future.
Having been involved in coaching girls teams in club and 'zones' football over the past couple of years, I know of many girls in the 11- 17 age group who are very good players, and are part of strong skillful teams.

Excellent comment Dr D, one wonders what the opposition coach did to stop the flogging when the score went to 5 zit. Although I can recall some 6 or 7 years ago, Fulham in U/14's had not scored a goal all season, and were getting flogged, when the coach of the opposition took a lot of players off put others in different positions. The order was given make Fulham work a bit for a goal, I reckon Neits was the goalkeeper, the goal came, and you would have thought the Fulham girls had won the cup. Good on you Neits, the coach, and other players for making it a great day for those Fulham girls. Great sportsmanship. To those who thought they did the wrong thing baha. Where are Fulham now. :) :)

Beaches, I arrived at the game just as that yound lady was getting carted off the field, so didn't actually see her go down, but speaking to players after the game, apparently it was an unfortunate accident where she rolled her ankle over the ball. Nasty injury, we had a player do the same thing last season turning her ankle in a small "pot hole" on the pitch. But she's back fighting this season.

Hopefully this young Panther will have a speedy and successful recovery and wont be detered from making a come back. I wish her all the best!
