Re: Cup Results 24/25 May
B's: Black Eagles 1 Simba Of Congo 4 (abandoned after 75')*
A's: Black Eagles v Fc Adelaide (abandoned without a ball being kicked due to above match)
A's: Bosna 1 Elizabeth Vale 3
Not the day I had planned. What coach makes an unforced double substitution in the 28th minute of a cup tie with his side leading 2-0? That's what the Simba Of Congo coach did today. Had it gone to extra time it could have left them with no fresh legs. Some of the Congolese players have indivdual skill and can run as fast as hell, with a bit of education (football education) this team coud be so much better. They led 2-0 at half time and made it 3-0 in the second half. On the hour mark they were reduced to ten men after a two footed lunge with feet in the air saw a straight red card. Actually it was the third or fourth such tackle that I saw and probably would be corrected with a bit of football education and discipline. The play was dangerous and there can be no arguments with the decision. Black Eagles were also reduced to ten men when they had a player receive his second yellow card, something he probably should have got sooner. They did pull one goal back before conceeding a penalty. The linesman put his flag up for offside (it wasn't), it was a foul and just inside the box. Good decision. The keeper saved the original spot kick and as he moved off his line before it was kicked it was ordered to be retaken, to which said linesman turned to me and asked what that was for. I had to explain to their other linesman that you can't be offside on a goalkick earlier in the game. The keeper moved off his line for the retaken spot kick but despite getting a hand to it couldn't keep it out. Not long later a scuffle in the box down the other end resulted in a Black Eagles' player throwing a punch at one of the Simba players and he too got his marching orders. He's only been on the park for about ten minutes, refused to leave, more fighting broke out. The Eagles' fans (?) ran on the pitch to join in and the Simba fans ran on too. The referee couldn't control it and and abandoned the game. He also refused to do the second game. 35 minutes had been played after a 40 minute first half so there was probably only five minutes left to play, but that doesn't excuse the actions of the Black Eagles.
Without a referee it looked as though the Eagles v Fc Adelaide game wouldn't go ahead so I didn't hang around. Angle Vale isn't too far from there so I thought to look at some of the grounds in that area (didn't have the exact details with me, just a fixture list) and stumbled across the Bosna v Elizabeth Vale game about to kick off so I stayed for that. Some Fc Adelaide players rocked up there later and they confirmed their game didn't go ahead. Interesting to see what happens with their tie.
Bosna v Vale was mild compared to all that, but it was good game to watch. Vale were the better side on the day and the 1-3 scoreline was just about right.

Bodo I was running the line in the first half.
I think some of the Beograd players need to learn the off-side rule.
I thought their keeper had a great game made some good saves.

Oh Beograd... that was yesterday. I got my wires crossed (with the game I saw today).
But part of that still is the same. Often players (and all teams do it) players yell at their own linesman who has correctly kept the flag down).

Decent atmosphere and decent club rooms. Was going to stay for the A's game but the kids were getting impatient.

Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:
Colossus: One House
Costa: One Lunch
Oh and add in
Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

I would suggest the league should kick them out of the cup altogether. It's not adelaide's fault that they couldn't play the game, while it's is Congo's.Bodø Glimt wrote:Some Fc Adelaide players rocked up there later and they confirmed their game didn't go ahead. There's no excuse for spectators to join in the action on the field, that said you can understand the second set coming in to protect their mates and players.

Southern Knights ( 2 ) Pontian Eagles ( 3 )
Could have gone either way, very attacking game.
Pontians went a goal up mid way through the first half.
Theo Anastasiou a few minutes later argued with the referee about an offside decision and was booked.
He continued arguing and received a second yellow and was ordered from the field.
Pontians however went further ahead a few minutes later and led 0-2 at half time.
Southern Knights pulled a goal back and began to take advantage of their spare man.
Midway through the second half Pontians netted again to stretch their lead back to 2 goals.
With about 10 minutes to go Southern Knights were awarded a penalty which they scored to make it 2-3.
Knights had plenty of opportunities to level the score but ran out of time.

It wasn't Congo's fault, but Black Eagles' fault. I too would expect that Fc Adelaide get awarded the tie.Hawkesy wrote:I would suggest the league should kick them out of the cup altogether. Yes, that's correct. The police were but they never took to the field and just watched. The female one didn't look too bad.Jay Walking wrote:Was the Black Eagles game the one on Eastern Parade? I drove past there and there was a cop car there with two policemen talking to some guy by the clubrooms?

Spirit v's Ingle Farm Reserves
After phoning Spirit on Thursday to confirm they were going to play the game, they did a no show. It is very frustrating orgainsing a day, having supporters travel 30 mins to watch a game that doesn't go ahead. We tried to do the right thing by Spirit and give them the phone call to make sure they wanted to play which they said yes.
I know not all clubs have a lot of infrastructure or help but a simple phone call was all that was needed. I hope Spirit get fined for not showing up at that game. If anyone from spirit is reading this, lift your game. If you werent going to show, just tell us so we dont waste half a day and half a tank of petrol.
