Great effort by the boys against TTG.

We played as a unit and when the game was in the balance early in the 2nd half we took the initiative.

TTG were gracious in defeat - good sportsmanship shown by them.

Have to agree that ref was a joke - very inconsistent.

Now we focus to the Knights this week - always a tough game but we are playing well at both ends of the park - attacking and defending.

How silly of me, I figured if it wasn't Jay referring to you as 'hunk of a man' Dunt then it would have to be you. Self praise is no praise brother.

East Boy wrote:Farm vs Easties

What a day out at farm today. Plenty of goals

I thought there were some really good signs for us out there today. We definitely took up the challenge to the farm for majority of the first hour, but then they got away. Not the most flowing football by the farm today, but that was mainly due to the intense pressure from our boys. Our midfield and defense are taking shape quite nicely and i think we will challenge every team this year if we can play like that. I thought all our players stood up today and will take away a lot of positives.

Getting on to the game though... Both teams battled it out tough for the first 30 odd minutes. We got caught a little square at the back and a great through ball from Eggers and a nice finish from Dingle. We kept battling though, but noticibly the farm spirits lifted. A lovely tackle, but free kick given, on the edge of the box, left Farm in a very nice position. A very quick free kick to chris ennis and our keeper was on the opposite post stranded. The ref did play 4 and a half minutes extra time though..... God knows where he got that from??????
Start of the second half and i still felt we were in the hunt for some points. Farm showed their usual superior fitness and ran over the top of us a little. Cant remember the 3rd goal to be honest... But the 4th goal this guy, cant remember his name jagged one and did a stupid celebration and fired our boys up a little. The rest of the game was very scrappy and there were a few chances for both teams. We looked very frustrated and i hope that passion goes on to the following games to get some points for the rest of the season.
Eggers got the after match BOG for farm and young Alex won the thorn in the side. Well done to the young man who showed us today he will be a great player in the future. I thought maybe Gaz Aitken or Andy Locke should have picked up the award, but either way was a good game from alex.
Given the East's circumstances during the week the East played very well and were a little unlucky to not be 1-1 at half time, although the Farm did dominate from start to end. I thought young Alex played well to win the thorn in the side, too me Aitken spent more time chopping Torston and Wade then playing football. Andy Locke would have been another good choice. I would not be surprised in an East upset in the coming weeks.

Dunty's goal celebration, I guess he saw the ladies on the hill and wanted to show off the six pack. I did not think it was much different to previous weeks celebrations. He did cop a bit form you guys so you did egg on him to celebrate a little more.

Ingle Farm V's Para Hills East

Cracking day to be playing. A bit of a breeze but otherwise superb

A's
A nice 4 nil win which we were made to work for. Easties battled very hard all day to try and shut down the space quickly. First goal was a magic ball by Eggars to Dingers. David cut the defence with a perfectly weighted quick through ball. Second goal was a quick free kick by Chris as Easties were trying to stand over the ball. Appartenly the ref asked Chris what he wanted to do and he said I'm taking a quick one so he did. Easties complained and I would of to if I was in their position but well done to Christo. Toasty worked hard all day and was rewarded with a great goal from a run into the box. Dunty scored a scrappy goal after battling in the box to knock it in the onion bag. Good performance by the A's which could of been better. The week off didn't do us to much good. Well done to Simo and Leggy.
Just wanted to make a comment about Gary Atkien. We gave him a lot of stick off the park but the guy battled all day. He whinged and moaned but he really did lead from the front and should be commended.

B's
A little bit lackluster but the class showed in the end. Easties again took it right to us but always felt fairly in control. I think a few boys might of been thinking about next week. Good result and boys should be happy with the efforts. It is almost starting to click together and we should be able to really bury a team in the next few weeks. Well Done to Billy who has a tough job each week finding a balancing act with players, doing a great job mate.

C's
I scored a double for the C's to win 2 nil. Actually, Plympton forfeited which left me cooking the BBQ.

C2's
The long trip to Mt Barker saw the boys lose 2-1. Unfortunately we dont have a 5th goal keeper so its going to be tough. All reports said that the boys played well and gave their all. They were playing against an A team so they should be proud of the effort.

Dads Army
Kicked off with a 5-2 win. I think we only had 1 on the bench so I'm sure there are a few sore boys today. Not sure of the goal scorers but I hope Towner DIDN'T get one. Only kidding mate :)

Nice to see Bill Bailey down watching us play also. He did the rounds at a couple of games this weekend. By the way Bill, I think your right, Denise really should get back to work and stop reading this stupid forum  Only kidding Denise!

Cheers to the East guys who hung around for a while. Kirky no doubt enjoyed drinking Alex's beers who won the Thorn In the Side award. Good luck to you guys for the rest of the season. Keep that fighting attitude in every game this season and you can pick up some points to help keep you guys in Div 1.

A big weekend next weekend for us. Downs are going to come at us hard and we are looking forward to the game. Can't wait to play in front of a big crowd to. Plus looking forward to meeting the famous Swannsong

Vista hit some good form yesterday and i think surprising to most, put alot of pressure on the experienced inter side. Just a shame we cant seem to stop these goals leaking through otherwise 9 goals from 4 games is not a bad return for a bottom side. All that needs to be done is to stop them from coming through against us otherwise the football that is being played is quite an attractive style and apart from the results, the lads are enjoying playing it. Will definately be fired up for the next game looking to get our first points and get a home result. quite simply 7 goals against at home over 2 games is just not good enough for any Vista side!!!

You're right Jay, boys played very well today. We controlled probably 70 % of the play but were unlucky and in my case untalented in front of goal. Wont be long now, looking forward to Grenock at home this week to hopefully register our first win. Special mention to Timmy Fisher who had a blinder.

well said i think, Good to see a change in structure at the club and change in formation in the team. A's now boast a good quality side with youth and exerience and lets face it one of the best to come back...... exactly how it is and everyone around the club knows it!!! when you look at it in the big picture we have conceded 10, so has croatia and tea tree gully. a vista side with pleanty of pride, passion and determination and a very unlucky grove side to face them this week. will not be one for the feint hearted!!

Firstly I have to ask,
I would say no to all of these, but I saw all of this in one reserves match today.

The first team game was quite a surprise. With the home side 4-0 up ten minutes into the second half you would have thought game over, but Budapest fought back to make a game of it. They finished with ten men after their keeper from the first half was sent off. After his should club linemans be smoking whilst running the flag? Should they be drinking whilst doing it? Should they be chatting on a mobile phone whilst doing it? Should they be coaching their players whilst doing it?berating of the referee at half time he continued in the second half and it was only a matter of time before he'd get his second red card. The only surprise was it didn't come sooner. Perhaps the same team was a bit lucky not to have a second player sent off for a dangerous foul from behind.

A stoppage time penalty made it 4-4 and even that went in off the bar. It made for an interesting finish and I was stuck in between to two sets of fans so it was interesting to see the noise suddenly shift from my right hand side to my left hand side.
Mate last year in DIV 2 Sunday the TTG linesman had a can in one hand, flag in the other and had his smoke in his mouth. At least in stopped him from coaching!!!! And that was for a first team game.

Yep Pontians 2
Downs 0

Scores Paradiso and Anastasiou

Must say I thought the ref today (John someone) was very good 3 or 4 yellows to Downs and 2-3 to Pontians.

well we do have a "We will replace injuries, We will NOT replace Red Cards" policy. in theory this means that robert should return to football via the c-grade...... in this case over 35's. however i beleive in the punishment of the player not the team, rob is a good player and will severly aid in our boyance up the table. im of the beleif that an A's player should be relegated to B's a B to C's and so on. . if he returns through the C's he has assured me that he will work hard however we both agree that his red card was not exactly warranted and in reality does not deserve the same punishment.

im not saying what he did was right however i beleive that he has served his sentance and should be available for B's selection like the other 25 players available for b's selection. ask yourself this...... If you are a central defender and your team is up by 1 and there is 5 minutes to go and an opposition player breaks away and is thru one on one do you:
A) Bring him down and get a red card and give away a free kick

B) Let him go and allow a one on one with the keeper

i know which i would do in this situation.....however..........

Remember that "red cards will not be covered" if this meant having X amount of weeks of suspention then coming back to play over 35's dont you think that the player that got the red card has done enough for the club to warrant being back up for at least b's selection??
put yourself in roberts shoes as far as im concerned any other player would have done the same and just because he has decided not to voice his opinion does not mean i will be following suit. if anyone at the club disagrees i would love to hear your opinion!!??

Shouldnt this be also kept inhouse to discuss at vista perhaps on a training night for discussion?, not on the results thread for the weekend for every other club to have to scroll through.

Yes it should be, don't worry, the senior group will address the issue and leave it off this forum, exactly where it should be sorted out
