Thorn In the Side

Post by Jay Walking »

Just a reminder to everyone from USC Lion and other Div 1 teams play us this season, we do an award called Thorn In the Side after every home game.

Its basically where our coaching group pick a player from the opposing side who they felt caused us the most problems. The winner recieves a 6 pack of beer. The presentation is done at 5:30pm and last for only 5 minutes or so.

We also run a Happy Hour from 5:30pm till 6:30pm. Most beers are $3 and Spirits $4 during Happy Hour. Some food is provided after the games and we will be trialing meals after one of our home games.

So if you can stick around for a drink, we would greatly appreciate it. I know we had a couple of guys from Inter hang around till about 9pm last year!

Redders, I've already told Simo you can't win the award. Mr X and Farmer Joe have backed me up on that

He is a good keeper and top bloke too. He played at Port Pirates this year for a couple of games while Brooks was getting hitched. He said he might go back to Easts as a Striker!!!!

Only if they give us dodgy penalities

We normally make sure the ref has something to eat and drink after the game.

Well done to the farm today. Tough game which they just shaded. Thought R Hunt was our best player. Well done to Euge who won the 'thorn' though, i told him he better keep kicking the ball into opposition supporters if he's going to walk away with a six pack every week. By the way mate, you are supposed to share them with your team mates and not stash the sixer in ya bag a piss off hahaha :P.

Big thanks to the Lion boys for sticking around. Many of the B's hung around to watch the A's then came in for a beer. Same with the A's, most of them bought a drink or two which we really appreicate. A jagerbomb or two was nearly had also

It is great when other clubs come in for a drink. Our clubrooms are very small but we encourage as many people to stay behind. Its really the only way we can draw an income. We strongly encourage our A team to go in for a drink at away games also.

Cheers to Redders, good you see you again mate. Good luck for the rest of the season

I agree with you Redders that R Hunt was your best. However can't agree with you that my belly was used to score, that was definitely my foot. But it was my belly that gave you a 1m tap in after Squidy tried to clear the ball, only managing to kick it in my guts from point blank.

Knee pulled up alright. Going to play tomorrow, probably as a sub. We've got 1 or 2 back this week, which should help things out.
