People at the Gawler vs Cobras game should have a long hard look at themselves. Having a Junior game called off for that type of behaviour is an absolute disgrace. Is it any wonder kids are running amok now a days with the total lack of discipline. And it is little wonder if thats the sort of example the parents are setting...... shame shame shame

In a case like this should the FFSA not insist that both the clubs and the coaches/managers involved submit a report

Sit down with the ref involved and sort it out, i think deducting a point or two (only if a clear descision is achieved) will prevent this from re-occurring.

IMO anyway :|

Bovva boy you wasn't there were you, I was and I'm telling you that maybe 1 card was deserved the rest were total over reactions by the ref. At no stage did any of the lads hack each other or did the game get out of control, in fact the lads made a great effort to talk, shake hands and mingle after the game, every body was dumbfounded by the reaction of the ref. In fact he was the one who was rude to the Cobra Parents in the first place screaming at them to shut their mouths after he disallowed a goal.

99% of the Parents at that game never spoke or shouted out any thing at the ref other than the usual grumbles about free kicks. He was told to get on with the game and that they came to watch their kids not him, only after being yelled at by him. He totally lost control of his game not the football game, that was played in great spirit. All the lads on both sides showed great discipline during the game and after and if i was a parent of any of them i would be proud of their behavior at the game.

And if you think I'm a parent of a cobra player you would be wrong.

People will see that the game was called off so it must have been the players and parents fault well in this instance they would be very wrong.

Was it an official ref or a club ref?

No prefly i wasn't at the game, but go to many junior games throughout the year and have seen similar actions by parents at those games. Usually only 1 or 2 idiots amongst a normally well behaved group of parents is all it takes. It doesn't really matter if the yellow cards were deserved in your opinion or not. It is the refs opinion that counts as he has control of the game. If you are not happy with him put an official report in to the FFSA about him...... Why did the ref turn to the crowd and ask them to be quiet? He should of called the game off then if he was being abused. ITS KIDS FOOTBAL nothing more, should be relaxing and fun environment not stressful and aggressive.... I can tell you 1 thing i have never seen and that is a ref ask for the crowd to be kept under control if there is nothing happening. Stop making excuses and rid the game of these parents who think there is nothing in the world more important on a Sunday morning than if their kids team WINS...... Develop Develop Develop, not Win Win Win....

I'm with you bovva boy

Parents should only encourage the team; "well done, good try, great kick", Nothing else should be said.

Let the kids play their own game, and the coach direct.

I agree that it should be encouragement at all times by the parents and that the refs decision no matter how hard it is to stomach sometimes is never going to be changed. However if it is correct and he has had a go at the crowd the Ref has made a HUGE mistake in getting involved with the crowd on the sidelines. He should ignore all the banter, if it gets abusive and he feels it is out of hand he should apporach the match steward, there should be one at all games, and have them deal with any crowd issues. Sometimes the ego of the man with the whistle can impede a good game of junior football.

Mackem Lad has got it dead on! He never made any approaches to the ground stewards (there was one from each club)
Bovva boy again you make generalizations about the supporters and players at this game and I don't need to make excuses, I was there and i Know what happened. He didn't ask the supporters to be quite he screamed at them to shut their mouths, that was the first time he had acknowledged the supporters at all, a minute later he called the game.

I have run the line and acted as ground stewards for many ,many years for my sons teams and i have no problem in stepping in to quite down spectators from both teams, and I'm the first to tell people if their not happy with the ref do the courses and become one themselves. But i have never ever seen any ref (Club or official) behave in that manner before. I'm sure that if Cobras have a problem with the ref that they would have already put in an complaint.

When is the last time you saw 7 or 8 cards produced in an under 14's game, before this game i have only ever seen 2 yellow cards given in about 6 years. With the amount of cards in this game you would thought there was fights breaking out all over the place, there wasn't . I say again though some of you don't (or won't) believe it the lads played the game in a friendly and fair manner.
Anyway I've said my piece

Cobras (1) VS Toros
Plympton (2) VS Western strikers
White City Woodville VS Cumberland (2)

I already have the following results

Comets (1) 1 VS West Adelaide (1) 1

We all know submitting complaints to FFSA is a waste of time. It is in FFSA best interest to support their Referees, last year alone they struggled keeping the Refs they had as half quit last year.

To be a Ref You have to be a person who is able to focus on the game and ignore People on side lines.

FFSA are giving Refs to much power and this is why games are getting out of hand, a good ref will not just flash a card at a Junior player but will approach the player and give some productive guidance it what maybe they should have done or not done.

Parents respect refs that conducts themselves in this manner and are more likely to behave better in
return.

I saw a similar thing at an U13's game last year....the ref was handing out cards and free kicks left right and centre....anyone reading the score sheet would have thought that it was a rough game but the two groups of kids were fantastic...it was a shocking display of soccer and very unnecessary...It certainly frustrated the spectators and created unneccessary angst....In saying that I wasnt at the game on Sunday so cannot comment on that incident....I hope a report will be put in because if it was a referreeing issue then some training needs to happen sooner rather than later....this sort of thing is not helpful to the sport.

Mmmmmmmm, I'll be diplomatic.

Of course parents are important! However they should be seen and not heard!

We, as adults, can not help ourselves but be a competitive bunch. We see something that involves winning and losing and we find ourselves barracking and yelling out instructions.
Children need to learn while playing, make their own decisions and learn from mistakes.

for the unofficial coaches who want to continually direct where and when their child should play on the park or when to run and when to stay etc, we have this for their special needs.

Players can and will be substituted given a bib and asked to leave the field and go and sit by mum & dad or the family to get their close up instructions then come back to the bench.

after all how many parents say anything at training! almost never.

thats the one I'll use this year and every player knows the rules and who's game plan they are working too, along with who the coaches are it just needs to be spelled out VERY CLEARLY.
