Good crowd 1000 - 1500.
Nicholls scored the first a cracker apparently ( 0 - 1 )
Brooks knocked in the second ( 0 - 2 )
Downs pulled one back ( 1 - 2 )
Nicholls gets his second ( 1 - 3 )
Two send offs for the Vale.
Downs get their second ( 2 - 3 ) and missed several chances to make the scores level.
Downs missing the runs of Singlewood (Playford), Blackwood (injured) and Radford (injured).

Downs welcome latest major sponsors Duncan-Basheer-Hannon.

A portion of the large crowd at the Downs watch on as Brooksy slots one home for the Vale !

I would think so, I had heard there were quite a few suspensions imminent for the Vale !

I missed the first goal by Nicholls, hence the apparently 1

Top game to play in, and a good one for the spectators, well hosted by the downs. Suspensions will hurt us a bit.

sore from head to toe, cant move, hangover = soccers back

Congratulaions to the vale boys on a gr8 win very well deserved, well done to the downs ppl 4 putting on a good day with all 3 teams having a red hot go and both lots of supporters showing plent of support for ther team.
Thnkx to swannsong who came up and introduced himself to me it was good to put a face to his username.
The banter between both clubs is ther to see but seeing the interaction between the clubs players coaches committe and supporters after the game in the club shows tht ther is an undeniable respect between both these clubs while played hard on the field can still hav a drink and a chat after the game.Wld like to say goodluck to Motts and the boys but if the Vale r to win the league then i think its the downs we r going to hav to finish infront of.

Cheers Brooksy

Vale's flag bearer interrupts the game, he'd had a few !

I would like to say this drunken fool was no official flag bearer of the Vale's, it was an embarassment for the club to see him on the park with our flag!!

Anyway the better team won on the day!! The vale played well in all areas and hung on at the end with 9 players.
Im sure there are a few sore bodies on both sides today, these are always physical games.
Hope Butler is OK and nothing serious comes of his clash.
At the end of it all there will still be Football !!

Agreed, poor/10 how could they not no the coaches name at least, to busy running up tabs on the amatuer league account. Feel like sitting them down and running them through Greavsey's div 1 titles and his success as a player.. PATHETIC

You're an idiot - if you feel that way then shut up about it. That kind of idiot behaviour has absolutely no place in our game, how the hell are we supposed to attract and retain referees when these kind of idiots are marching on to the pitch let alone keep players and promote it as a sport to the (many) youngsters that were there watching the game. Good to see that the Vale distanced themselves as well.

Great game by the way and even better to see the two teams and clubs together afterwards having a bevvy.

as someone who was front anc centre to see this guy.. i would say yes. given the state he was in he would have jumped the fence and run around on the pitch, only it would have stopped the game for longer coz he would have fallen over said fence and had to pick himself up.
A Complete disgrace! Could even see the vale supporters distance themselves from him on the day.
