5 of the top 10 in the EPL (including the top 2)
Only 2 Seria A in the 10.

More independent proof on which is the best league.

it would be remiss of us not to mention the current stats, even if the Italian national team is way better than the Eglish one, cause if things change serie A fans will be licking thier lips.
Perhaps thats why 75% of Italy's super back four from WC 06 have moved to different leagues, they need a challenge     :x

you clearly know it's because of the Calciopoli scandel.
Zambrotta, Cannavaro. Grosso was playing in Italy at the time and moved to a bigger club. He'll be back in Italy in no time. Hopefully to Serie B to play with Pescara :D

Grosso would probably stay in Lyon for the wages + champions league, although thier aren't any more posititves about living in France.

In the games i've watched he just doesn't look the player he did for Italy, maybe he played a bit above himself in the WC

maybe he did, cause he did write his name in Italian folk-law.

If he made his return to Italy for a team like Fiorentina or Udinese or Sampdoria i think he'd re capture some good form that got him selected for the 2006 World Cup.

One article means nothing really.

but, I will admit this.

Currently, the EPL is the best league in the world and until the 4 English team are out of CL it will stay that way.

but if you were to compare the lower clubs from both respective league (La Liga and EPL, no offence italy) then you would realise La Liga is superior (when comparing the lower clubs aswell)
But the ones that people take notice of are the higher clubs, and England undoubtedly has their biggest teams flying at the moment. So in saying that I consider the Premier League superior to the rest of Europe... at the moment anyway.

just have to say though, if an English team does not win the CL this season - I will be astounded...... to say the least.

What the hell are "Power Rankings" anyway? How you could put Everton above Real Madrid or AC Milan is laughable!

well do you see teams like Cagliari, Reggina, Siena, Parma getting pumped 7-0 by the league leaders like in Spain???

No!!!

When we talk about strength and depth in the whole league, Italia has the greatest of all leagues going down from the 1st division to the 4th.

I do not have an issue with the english league at the moment being the better one compared to other leagues. Four teams in the quarter finals is an achievement and considering the opposition that they will have such as Schalke 04 and Fenerbhace (sorry for the wrong spelling), there is a strong chance that there will be an english final. However, my only issue is if you can really compare CL with national championships.
Aside from the qualifying groups, CL games are played over two legs which means that mentally and tactically require a different approach. A national league is won and played over approx. nine months and again require a different approach.
It would be interesting to see a foreign team playing in another league for one season and see how they go, to really justify the statement that one league is better than another.

Yeah seriously, no offence but quoting "power ratings" which feature Everton above Real Madrid and AC Milan doesn't exactly add a lot of weight to the EPL vs Serie A argument, especially when AC WON THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LAST SEASON AND AREN'T EVEN IN THE TOP 10.

spot on.

the top 4 in england are better, I can admit that but over the strength of the whole league Italy is well ahead.

when was the last time the Serie A even had a 7 goal match? has it ever even happened!? i mean defending is the major priority over there, that's why you never get high scoring games!!... I would much rather watch a team get 6/7 goals smashed against them anyday! - no matter the quality of the opponent. rather than watch some boring shi't 0-0, 1-0 match focused on defending.

I don't even know how Italy was actually pulled into this conversation... my post was comparing England and Spain.

you said no offence Italy and you thought Spain had the best depth, so i'm arguing Italy does.

Well Roma beat Catania 7-0, Torino and Parma drew 4-4 along with Napoli 4-4 Roma.

So your theory of defending just went totally out the window

La Liga has the least goals scored out of the big 3 with Serie A having scored the most - this season and last and I'm pretty sure the year before that.

Sorry bud, but La Liga is not even at the same standard as the EPL let alone the Serie A. Udinese 3-5 Genoa, Torino 4-4 Parma, Roma 4-4 Napoli just to name 3.

You're the one who brought La Liga into this thread and now I'm taking it out.

The fact that the bottom sides in Serie A and even top sides in B are competitive even with the best tells you that our league has more depth.

the most funniest raning system since the FIFA world rankings... hilarious... gee i wonder who has more power... AC or Everton... mmm tough choice... mmmm Pirlo v Carsley... i wonder?!?!?

Top clubs in England are the best... but in terms of depth, the eyetalian league easy... watch Serie B and then Championship football and you can easily see which is superior. Spanish leagues are third rate in all areas.
