Eduardo Da Silva broken leg

Post by yoda »

How bad was that. Go on You tube and type in broken leg as a search and have a look. Not pretty.

Big loss for Arsenal...bigger loss for Croatia as his form in internationals has been fantastic. They will struggle to score without him.

Feel sorry for the kid - if his career isn't over I doubt he'll ever be as good as he was before the injury.

This one is pretty good, they analise it is slow motion. OUCH !!!

Feel sorry for Eduardo, terrible injury !! Wish him a speedy and successful recovery.

3 games MAXIMUM!! and quite rightly so. Eyes on the ball, da silva just nips the ball away, too quick for him. You lot are 'avin a laff' if you think it deserves more than 3 games. If he hadn't been so badly injured, would have only been a yellow. I think birmingham should appeal the red.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:

Colossus: One House

Costa: One Lunch

Oh and add in

Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

haha i dont, they wouldnt get anywhere and they'd look like tossers. however 3 games is about right, it was in the first couple of minutes too, unlikely to be quite up to speed at that stage.

maybe those tackles are acceptable to lowly millawall in the CC but not in the epl! taylor wasn't even close to the ball...the height of his tackle is so much higher than the ball that no intention to play the ball..i say fark him ban him for 5 at least! be interesting to see what happens when birmingham play at the emirates next season (that is if they are there!)

If you are going to take the piss out of my team then try and get some facts right. What the hell is the CC? and news to me we're in it.

When did i say it was "acceptable", but you'd think it was ben thatcher's on mendez the way you lot are carrying on. Football is a contact mans sport, although you wouldn't realise it now when you watch the high levels of the game.

If you don't like contact, go and watch netball!

Wenger retracts Taylor criticism
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says his initial comments that Birmingham captain Martin Taylor "should never play football again" were "excessive".
Wenger claimed the third-minute tackle which broke Eduardo's leg and earned Taylor a red card was "horrendous".

But later on Saturday Wenger said: "I feel that my comments about Martin Taylor were excessive. I said what I did in the heat of the moment.

"It was a highly emotional afternoon and we were all shocked by the injury."

Eduardo, 24, remained lying on the pitch for seven minutes as medical staff attended to him before he was stretchered off and taken to hospital.

He underwent surgery for a double compound fracture later on Saturday and will miss the rest of the season, with Wenger fearing a "much longer" absence.

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish sprang to the defence of Taylor.

"Martin's not a dirty player. He's distraught over Eduardo's injury," he said.

"Martin Taylor is adamant there was no malicious intent in the tackle and he is deeply upset by the extent of Eduardo's injury"
Birmingham statement

"I've seen the challenge and, yes, the studs land on Eduardo's ankle. In slow motion these tackles always look bad but he's not a malicious player - Eduardo was just too quick for him," he explained.

"The referee's done his job, it's a sending off, but Taylor's not a malicious player."

Birmingham released a statement later on Saturday saying the club were "saddened that such a fantastic game of football has been marred by a serious injury".

It added: "Martin Taylor is adamant there was no malicious intent in the tackle and he is deeply upset by the extent of Eduardo's injury.

the Zidane headbut finds its way into so many pictures these days.

Eduardo is back in London after surgery, hopefully there will be no issues with his recovery.

I hope he comes back and gets him back Roy Keane style, sorry hawksey i dont agree with you, that was just a woeful challenge.
If you don't like contact, go and watch netball!? hey Im all for hard tackles but there is a big diference between hard and dirty, doesnt take balls to break someones leg.

4 examples of bad tackles not getting the 10 game ban. All of these are worse than Taylors.

Don't ever be sorry for having a different opinion to me, the game is all about opinion. The fact you articulated it rather than just abuse shows a degree of intelligence rarely seen on this forum.

the main cause of the broken leg was that eduardo's studs were still in the ground at the time of impact, and this gave him no room for his leg 2 obsorb the tackle!! if his leg was in the air at the time of contact, then he woulda jst flipped ova

times have changed though. Not saying he should get 10 games but its 2008 and you owe a duty of care to your opponent.
Most of the hard men who played back 20 years ago were masters of their craft. they would clip and chop people in the right places, but never go around breaking legs each week.

Not one of those challenges were 20 years ago. Davis's was 19  .

In 2 of them are within 2 seasons.
