i think when it comes down to it, liverpool were the much better team on the night, and this had little to do with the sending off. liverpool dominated the match early, and the early tactics of getting at the slow lumpy materazzi worked perfectly, with him being sucked into two clumsy fouls to get himself sent off.
the way that liverpool played is not always the most attractive, often playing the ball around and holding possession making a number of half chances for the first 75 minutes and then unleashing stevie g to get at them and try to snatch a win late. this frustrates me to no end, and often means they only draw and sometimes lose in the league, but against the european teams it always seems to work.
liverpool have a solid as back line that give european teams who dont attack them no chance of penetrating the wall. even before the send off, carragher and hyypia (even though he is ageing and is slow as) gave inter nothing. i havent seen much serie a, but every time i see ibrahimovic in a euro cup game he dissapoints. carragher showed just how good he is this morning. i have seen a lot of you bag him out, and yeah he isnt the classiest player, but he would be in the first XI of any club team in the world.
liverpool rely too much on carragher, gerrard and torres, but they also seem to be able to get the most out of their own ability in big euro cup games. until they build their squad with at least another class striker and midfielder they wont press for domestic honours, but they will continue to impress in the euro cup

And that is a major problem, when it was the European cup you had to win it or your domestic league to qualify for next season. You couldn't take your eye off the ball and rely on 4th spot.Huntelaar wrote:id take winning the CL over winning the domestic title any day

If you were to ask any neutrals that have no religious ties to either countries I'm sure a greater percentage will agree the EPL is the best in the world as a spectical. Nothing to do with marketing, just facts.
The EPL is a physical and attacking game which makes it great to watch. Seire A, well defensive, slow, theatrical and quite frankly, boring.

Serie A absolutely rips into all leagues.
The depth and quality of the league is unimaginable.
Why do we see teams like Derby and Reading struggle. They don't have the depth. Derby one year wonders. Reading fluked last year and will most likely go down. Wigan were extremely close to going down last year.
In Serie A that doesn't happen. Chievo, Messina and Ascoli were relegated from Serie A last season. Messina and Chievo had both been in the top flight for more than 4 years. Ascoli had been in the league 2 years. That shows that not one team that got promoted went down.
this season, obviously Juve won't go down but Napoli and Genoa have struggled at some point during their history but you don't see them going down at all.
Lazio finished 3rd last season after a massive point deduction. They are struggling to get into the top half of the table.
Why? Because the quality of the league is extremely good and every game is hard to get points.
Napoli lost at home to Empoli who are relegation strugglers.
That's like Portsmouth losing to Reading, which didn't happen.

this topic still not dead, it's like a bad horror movie about the living dead without the titty scene.
England Div 1 best up until 85
Serie A from 85
However I fear the mantle is about to be handed back to the English, once the EPL weed themselves of the few remaining English players, coaches and owners.

I don't like lies. I have understood your market where sometimes lies sell more than truth. This is your life and I don't like it. I understand your work and I have to work with you, but the protection of my group is much more important than you

The arguments in this topic illustrate perfectly why i get so pissed off at so called "Italians" that support English clubs.
As you said Marco B, the poms gang up on us "scummy italians" and celebrate their victories over us.
The poms criticize Serie A, they criticize our clubs, they criticize our supporters, They bag anything they can to degrade Italians and brag how great and superior their crappy EPL is. (and good luck to them, they can have their opinions, and they are only being Patriotic to their own country. I admire the pomy devotion to club and country)
THEN we have so called Italians on here that splash English club pictures all over their posts, and jump in the poms corner !! WTF !!!
No Englishman would ever brag about going for an Italian club (and good on him)

Trying to be sensible here. If you follow italian football your answer will be seria a, if you follow English football it will be the premier League.

Pescara is my team in Italia. We play in the equivilant to League One.
My favourite league is Serie B. We have been prodominately in that league for most of our history, so hopefully we get back into it next year. Serie B is fucken quality.

I've watched both regularly and sometimes the Championship games slip to the level of A-League with the long balls, poor touches, terrible mistakes etc.
Serie B is so strong. Technical, physical, fast and quality to watch.
Baggio15, do you have any highlights/goals that can be posted of Serie B??
even if it's Juve or anyone else from last year. Lets put this topic to bed.
well thats a joke and a half. the championship showcases englands best upcoming talent, formers legends and suprise superstars. its its faster then the premier league, and there is alot more pride to play for. if you want to see quality goals and skill the championship is it. not the serie bRigoni 10 wrote:that just shows your general knowledge of football then.Best Of 3 Worlds wrote:serie b is nothin compared to the quality of the championship. enough saidRigoni 10 wrote:Serie C1.Best Of 3 Worlds wrote:so where does your loyalties lie rigoni? arsenal or serie a?Rigoni 10 wrote:that's where the argument is lost for you guys.Best Of 3 Worlds wrote: maybe, but its good to see them sticking up for the english side

You have to remember, Juve also didn't totally destroy the league either. Everyone thought Juve would coast to the title.
They didn't and that shows the depth and quality of Serie B.
my team Pescara, who finished bottom only lost to Juve 1-0 and 2-0 home and away.
Juve were beaten by teams like Spezia who survived with a play-out, Mantova, Brescia etc.

Buffon, Zebina, Del Piero, Trezeguet, Nedved, Camoranesi, Chiellini, Birindelli, Zanetti, Palladino and Nocerino all top class players who are definitely of Serie A quality that all had a major part in Juve's squad last season.
Rising stars like Palladino and Nocerino were made better players cause they played seasons of Serie B.
