elizabeth downs are currently the benchmark of the league i dont think there is to much doubt about that. but the way you downs boys are shouting ,you would think that the downs are akin to a man utd or real madrid. fact is you have won very little ,two div 1 titles and a cup plus some other lower league honours. not exactly kings of the amateur league. many other current clubs have a much more glorious history than the downs,inter,east and the vale readily spring to mind.still enjoy it whilst you can but remember your just a club with a pretty average track record. Well said big man. We pay 1st team players $200 per week and ressies $100 per week. You have to train and are required to spend $250 over the bar each week. I dont see a problem with it

In all seriousness, most clubs pay, some more than others and some players earn more than others at a club. Downs have a nice backer but they also have a lot of supporters that put a lot of money over their bar, hence they can pay that bit extra. Not all players play there for that reason but the club is able to put dollars back into the people who play for the club. Without those players, the Downs wouldn't get as big of a crowd. Gardens are the same, Vale also. It is great watching Downs/Gardens/Vale games because of the number of people there and the passion in those games. It is something that clubs such as mine, Ingle Farm strive for. If we were in a position to pay our players more than we currently do, whilst still helping and supporting the people that make our club run, we would. Who wouldn't??
All clubs are not for profit so why should a club sit on $20K, they should put that back to its members in some way. If that is via payments for playing, so be it.

Whilst all you guys do bag Nugget, he does have a lot of passion for his club of which is needed. Without people like him, we wouldn't have clubs like Gardens, Downs, Vale etc. Besides, who else would you guys rip into.
