Everyone does realise that we do play this game for fun right? It's not as if we can make a living out of it (OK maybe Pontians can if you believe the rumours :) ) and we all have to go to work on Monday.

It just seems some people are more focussed on "buying" players/championships than actually building quality club teams, improving and taking the enjoyment from achieving your own goals. At the end of the season there is only 1 divisional winner, but that doesn't mean the other 9 teams are losers.

My team last year for example ended the season 5th and from the club perspective we achieved our goals with a young and inexperienced squad and the players were pretty happy with the results we ground out through perserverence, grit and teamwork.

So let's not all get over the top on this buying players and if you're not first you're a loser attitude as it's not true and if we all think that way, just look at all the "losers" you'd find in your normal daily life and you'll realise we just playing amatuers and not everyone has the same goals every year.
Obviously J5 you have never won anything and this little rant helps you sleep at night :!: :!: LOSER

Thanks Chopper, but I have been lucky enough to win a few personal and team trophies over the years while playing with some really great guys. So that's not an issue, what bugs me is that this is an amateur league and apart from Div 1 and some Div 2 clubs most clubs don't pay play players. I do believe every player and team should aim to win everything they can, but it winning the division doesn't make you the only winner.

And Mr X did your club set realistic goals? If you didn't well then it can be hard to measure but you did stay up in Div 1 and have hopefully built for this season. Keep in mind it can take several years to build a team to win a championship (plus you always need a bit of luck). And of course good luck for 2008. I always enjoyed playing against you guys, even way back in juniors.

Middlesbrough and Aberdeen pay more than $300 per week. There the greatest teams in the world, aren't they.
