Wise quits Leeds for Magpies role

Post by ADELAIDE OWL »

Leeds have agreed to let manager Dennis Wise join Premier League side Newcastle in an as yet unspecified role.

The former England and Chelsea midfielder, 41, will be unveiled by the Magpies on Tuesday and will work with new manager Kevin Keegan.

A Leeds statement said: "We have agreed a compensation package with Newcastle for the services of Dennis Wise.

"He will part with the club after completing preparations for the game at Southend on Tuesday."

The exact nature of Wise's new role is likely to be clarified at Tuesday's news conference, but he is tipped for an executive position with influence over Newcastle's transfer dealings.

Keegan declared himself "very happy" with the situation.

But he admitted on Monday that the details of the appointment were still unclear.

According to sources (the ex Millwall chairman), newcastle offered him three times his leeds salary and told him he could do the job from London. :?

Gary MacAllister has got the job.

Good riddance to Wise, he's done nothing since Gus Poyet left for Chelski.

At least the big M knows and respects the club and it's fans.

Considering the 'feeling' between the 2 clubs, especially when denis was at Chelsea, it was surprising that he took the role on, but then again he is good mates with Ken Bates so maybe it wasn't such a surprise.

Gus and Denny did have a good working relationship that seemed to work for them at Leeds, it will be interesting to see how they get on from here.

Both fans and players of leeds and chelsea in the 60/70's played and supported the game VERY hard. Norman 'bites yer legs' Hunter v Ron 'Chopper' Harris etc... If either of those two played in the modern game, they'd never finish 90 minutes.

So, it became a rivalry on and off the pitch.

most leeds fans who hated wise with a passion believe that Poyet was the man pulling the strings? After he left the results did begin to dip a bit

Wise is a shit manager, I could have told him that. He failed to get the best Millwall side since 1990 promoted. OK he got them to the cup final, but we all know that was down to the draw rather than the coaching. Look at his nagativity once we got there.

Then the shit that came out once he had left. Players on long expensive contracts and players being advised to leave because he was leaving etc..

The dwarf's a cunt.
