As much as i hate "the pig" now, there was no-one better at the time he signed from barca to inter....even when he was at PSV he was scoring for fun and ill admit - i had a "woody" when he came to inter....

I dont know about top 5 (Maradonna, Pele, Bekenbauer, Cruyff, Charlton) are just some you could name in there...maybe top 10?? definately top 20 IMO ... still, i look at him now and wanna vomit....

It's a little hard to rate him with some other players because his career was so ravaged by injury, but I personally think that had he kept in good health he would have been the best of all time. The touch he had on the ball was sublime, it was like it was glued to his feet, I don't think I've seen any other player like that, possibly Maradona.

And to think when he was 20 he was better than just about every player of this generation throughout their whole careers, other than arguably Zidane...just makes my head spin thinking about what could have been...

I want to make a 20 year old Ronaldo in PES master league and put his injury to A and watch him develop, that's the only way to truly know how good he would have been

He is always going to get the respect along with Zidane as both these players were able to produce the goods and guide their countries to WC glory.

Ronaldo has been to 4 WC's for 2 wins(bench in 94) a runner up and a quater final! With a cv like that, his club career record is meaningless in rating him as a player! Not too many of the greats didn't play in a world cup final!

The only problem with this argument is that football is a team game. One great player still needs ten other good players around him to make an impact on the greatest stage.

Unfortunately the thing I'm most likely to remember ronaldo for is that pube-like haircut he had. (I thought it was apt for a big dÃck)

these stats are from wikepedia so could be out but i would say by a quick glance per games played league and international ronaldo has a better average..
