Mourinho Rejects England coach job
Mourinho Not Interested In England Job
Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has sensationally ruled himself out of the runnings for the vacant England manager's role.
The Football Association seem to have been caught out yet again in their quest to find the new England manager, as they insisted on Friday that they hadn't approached anyone about the role.
However, a statement made by Mourinho on his agent's website seems to contradict the FA's view.
"After Steve McClaren left the England football team, my representatives maintained contact with the FA," began the message.
"In that sense, I had myself useful discussions with Brian Barwick and Trevor Brooking where we exchanged ideas to evaluate the entire situation about the England squad and set the goals in case of real invitation being addressed to me.
"After deep and serious thinking, I decided to exclude myself from being England manager despite being a fantastic position for me.
"I'm sure FA will hire a great manager, one able to place the team back where it belongs.
"I reiterate my respect for the English football and, after three good years in England, I firmly believe that the England squad will soon be back to their usual great results."
The Portuguese was the fans’ clear favourite for the role, but now Italian duo Fabio Capello and Marcello Lippi have emerged as the frontrunners for the job.

Damn, seemed like he would have been perfect for England, look like he'll be coaching a club next season then. My tip for the job would be Capello, Lippi doesn't even speak English and Klinsmann's got his eye at club level. Capello's my bet..

Pires> Too much expectation............he'd be use to it I would have thought, especially taking on Chelsea when he did.
Not sure what his reasons would be to turn it down, maybe he likes the idea of a club side to manage.....who knows, only the 'Gifted One'
What ever club/country he ends up managing, in my eyes his results will always be compared to his time at Chelsea....now that will be a tough assignment, poor bugga!

IMO he will just be another Steve MHawkesy wrote:Gareth Southgate. TURN IT IN!!!diegom wrote:ps, Give it to the current middlesborough coach!
I'm starting to get worried that Martin O'Neill might actually get it.
Capello seems to be the main man, then again who knows mourinho might be playing the money game.

Give it to one of the Italians, nothing to lose and it will be a win win situation..............if they win the Italians will start boasting how good the coach is and they'll get less of a ribbing, the big bonus of course is that England will be winning once again, if they don't start winning we'll hear less from the Italian kids on here about how good everything Italian is but the English will still cop a ribbing I suspect.
Did you see Steve Coppell ruled himself out of the job last week. I would like to also officially say that I am not interested in the job at all. Well I had the same amount of chance as Coppell did of getting it.IpswichTown1878 wrote:IMO he will just be another Steve MHawkesy wrote:Gareth Southgate. Jurgen Klinsmann is also a definate NO IMO, its either Mourinho, Lippi or Capello for me
except Chelsea had a 1 in 3 chance of winning the league + a very good squad when he came across! England don't have a forward of Drogba's ilk to play the Jose way!Ted from Taperoo wrote:Pires> Too much expectation............he'd be use to it I would have thought, especially taking on Chelsea when he did.

Englands curret squad were probably at their best at euro04. he would be expected to win the WC in 2010, which isn't very likely

thought it would be a lose lose.Ted from Taperoo wrote:Give it to one of the Italians, nothing to lose and it will be a win win situation..............if they win the Italians will start boasting how good the coach is and they'll get less of a ribbing, the big bonus of course is that England will be winning once again, if they don't start winning we'll hear less from the Italian kids on here about how good everything Italian is but the English will still cop a ribbing I suspect.
If England win with an Italian coach it will be because of the coach and not the squad and if they lose it will be that the team is so crap that not even an Italian coach can get results with such a bunch of no hopers
I don't like lies. I have understood your market where sometimes lies sell more than truth. This is your life and I don't like it. I understand your work and I have to work with you, but the protection of my group is much more important than you

everyone forgets what he did at Porto. The man's a genius at getting the best out of players and getting "superstars" to gel together.pires7 wrote:except Chelsea had a 1 in 3 chance of winning the league + a very good squad when he came across! Which is exactly what England need, we have the personnel, just not the TEAM!!

I should bloody hope so. I am one and spent the first 26 years of my life living there.IpswichTown1878 wrote:You know Englishman to wellHawkesy wrote:Your answer is in bold.barbarez01 wrote:why is klinsmann a definate no? he did heaps good with deutschland?
One day I will return for good. In the mean time Millwall v brighton on boxing day to look forward to, hopefully it snows, then my kids can see what christmas is supposed to be like.
Had that world cup not been in Germany, they would have ben eliminated far earlier than where they got to. And Klinsmann is not a good tactician. His assistant Lowe did all that, he was mainly a motivator.barbarez01 wrote:why is klinsmann a definate no? he did heaps good with deutschland?IpswichTown1878 wrote:Hawkesy wrote:Did you see Steve Coppell ruled himself out of the job last week. I was rather hoping we'd get Mourinho.
Ah well I think we should go for this bloke John Sitwell

I can just imagine him saying to Gerrard And Lampard "You can bring another mate and your dinner."

it's all detail now, but ManUSA were robbed v Porto that year! Two decisions went against them! These things even out I guess as we can all remember that pool goal that never crossed the line?Hawkesy wrote:everyone forgets what he did at Porto. Although it never actually snows on chritmas day in England the 'snow week' is always around that time. This will be my first chritmas in Australia so pretty much my first hot christmas, it will feel very oddHawkesy wrote:I should bloody hope so.
