FA 'makes approach' for Mourinho
The Football Association has contacted Jose Mourinho's agent about the former Chelsea boss taking over as England coach, BBC Sport understands.
Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes has been approached by the FA about the job, although reports that the Portuguese is already in London are wide of the mark.
It is thought the FA has drawn up a shortlist of five or six contenders.
Mourinho, 44, is on the list and he is considering whether he is prepared to meet FA bosses to talk about the job.
Some newspaper reports claimed Mourinho was either in London already or about to fly into England from Portugal for talks with the FA.
The other names on the shortlist are said to be Marcello Lippi, who won the World Cup with Italy in 2006, Fabio Capello, Jurgen Klinsmann and Martin O'Neill (who has already said he is not intrested i think)

I dont actually think that Mourinho would be good for England because when you coach a country, you cant actually buy players from other Nations to build yourself a team
They need a Guus Hiddink type coach who seems to get the best out of the squad he is given but i cant seem to think of any people who have the same ability as Hiddink apart from Otto Rehaggel or the Croatian coach (dont know his name)

Dont forget Mourinho won the CL with Porto. Yes it was a good side but there were plenty of others that were better on paper.COLOSSUS wrote:I dont actually think that Mourinho would be good for England because when you coach a country, you cant actually buy players from other Nations to build yourself a team

Laziale, dont get me wrong mate, i think Mourinho is a wonderful coach but i just dont think he is Englands answer, but i could be wrong, just my personal opinion. Personally, id like to see someone like Martin O'Neil or maybe even Big Sam Allardyce do the English job. I cant for the life of me understand why the latter 2 i mentioned were overlooked in the first place over McLaren. But if the Poms are now going abroad again to look for a coach, then they shouldnt go past an Italian coach. An Italian coach will fix up there defensive woes and teach them how to play measured counter attacking Football, and lets be honest, its not as if they dont have quality players.Laziale wrote:Dont forget Mourinho won the CL with Porto. The next decision on Englands National team Football coach is the most important decision the FA will have made since their home ground WC victory back in '66. If they get it wrong the next time, the Poms could find themselves in the wilderness for many many years to come on an International level

Im only implying that they shouldnt count anyone out at this stage.
Its a big decision and surely a well known greek manager with high credentials and fire in his belly would be up for the challenge.

Listen, i know exactly what you meant because your smart assss comments havent been limited to just this Topic Mastiff.
Now why dont you tell the forum about how a Greek Manager is going to change the English Squad when a Greek Manager isnt even in charge of the Greek National Team??? Good try Mastiff but your gonna have to defend your silly posts better than that. Your unbelievable, i dont know whether to laugh or cry at you
All im asking you is to leave your stupid comments about Greece or Greeks to yourself, especially when you havent been provoked in making them, couldnt be that hard could it
Have a nice night Mastiff and i hope you wake up in a friendlier mood tomorrow mate
And as for learning to LOVE, i have more LOVE in me than your 2 sacks buddy boy
