Somewher Over The Rainbow-What A Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.
Israel died quite a few years ago from heart failure due to an inherited obesity problem.

The next song on the CD was one of my favourite Tom Waits song On The Nickel

Late Breaking news
Now listening to Changes and my five year old is singing along with the song, now he wants to play it again!

I agree, I remember seeing him live on some show and thought Scissor Sisters sang the song he performed but apparently it was his own song.
Another Australian artist with a similar voice is Lior

I played in 2 bands -
The REJECTS from (1977-1982)
Formed with some mates from Craigmore High School, Laurence Cooper (drums, vocals), Phillip Peel (vocals), Robert Shepherd (bass vocals), swannsong (guitars, vocals).
We did Neil Young, Doors, Stones, Tom Waits, Procul Harem, Little Feat, Muddy Waters, Later on Robert left and Mike Rawlinson and Mark Wyman joined. I wrote most of the original tunes we did with Phillip writing most of the lyrics.
I remember once we were playing "the Nips Are Getting Bigger" at Torrens College, when Reg Mombassa and Martin Plaza walked in!
Robert Shepherd is a fairly succesful producer in New Zealand.
we played at venues like Adelaide Uni, Torrens College, the Hilton, Tivoli

THE HOP (1983) Formed with Paul Burton & Patrick Loughry from the Milky Bar Kids with Mike Rawlinson, swannsog, Ralph Maby.
Played stuff by Bauhaus, Echo & The bunnymen, Theatre of Hate.
Did a live to air show on a local radio station at Magill and played quite a few times at Portabellos on Melbourne street

At the present I play mostly acoustic guitars, mandolin, charango and write a few songs.
I'm in the process of setting up a digital studio in a shed I built a few years back.
