Capello In Da Mix

Post by Infoman »

Just heard FFA has approached Fabio Capello to put his hat in the ring for the vacant Socceroo coaching job. Unofficial at this stage, but a worthy candidate, or not?

Don't think he has ever coached a country, but successful club coach. Coaching a country is not as easy as coaching a club. Like Eriksson found out.

The article I read said Cappello approached the FFA.

The fact he can't speak english might be an issue

SOMEHOW I DON'T THINK THE FFA STAND ANY CHANCE!!!

Fabio Capello has been backed for the England job by many - and it seems that a contract offer is on the table...
England Tempt Capello With €5.5m Per Season Deal?

According to sources in the Italian media, Fabio Capello could be offered up to 5.5 million euros per season to take the England job.

Capello is now seen as favourite to take over in the Wembley hotseat following Steve McClaren's sacking after the failure to reach Euro 2008.

The former AC Milan boss is said to be interested in taking on the role, which would comprise a four year contract in order to rebuild the side ahead of the 2010 World Cup and 2012 Euros.

However, the snag is that Capello's offer is apparently of the take-it-or-leave-it nature, meaning that a 'no' from the Don would almost certainly be irrevocable.

Jose Mourinho is said to be next in line to be offered the post, although he's thought to be less likely to be interested.

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has recommended Capello for the job, saying, "Fabio's a winner everywhere he works, so I wish him all the best and I hope he has a satisfying career."

Glenn Hoddle, meanwhile, also backed the Don, saying, "
As Glenn Hoddle joins the group backing Fabio Capello to be the new England manager, it’s reported a £4m per season offer is on the table.

Former Juventus, Roma and Real Madrid boss Capello is the hot favourite to replace Steve McClaren on the Three Lions bench after their failure to qualify for Euro 2008.

He has already stated his interest in taking the job and it is now reported in the Italian media that negotiations are in full swing.

It’s claimed the England FA have offered a four-year contract worth £4m per season for Capello to take them through to the 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championships.

However, the only catch is that they want an answer immediately and are unwilling to negotiate further on the terms.

If Capello turns it down, then the same contract will be offered to ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who has not confirmed or denied his interest in the job.

“Fabio wins wherever he goes, so I wish him the best and to have many more satisfying moments in his career,â€￾ said Milan President Silvio Berlusconi.

Former England boss Glenn Hoddle also backed Capello, telling BBC Radio 5 Live, "If the FA want a foreign Coach then it needs to be someone who has done well at the highest level.

"The man who fits that description is Capello. He's my number one choice for the job. I feel the successful candidate must have vast experience at all levels if the FA are to opt for a foreign manager.

"I would allow Capello to bring one of his assistants, but I would have an English guy operating alongside him who would be groomed to eventually take over.

"It doesn't have to be a young man but guys like Stuart Pearce, Alan Shearer, Steve Coppell are possibilities."

its up to capello in the end, hes not a man to be persuaded by money, he'll go where he feels he is most needed and where his skills get put to good use. he would be a perfect coach for australia.

just because he is such a high profile manager does NOT mean he will snub australia. australia is a huge high profile country in the world, and the A-league is constantly gonna grow into a huge league. australia is in with a huge shot here

This would be an excellent signing by FFA. But until he shows up for the 1st training session, I'll be sceptical.

We don't want another Dicky Avacaado now, do we?
