Put in a mens reserve league that play prior to the A league. That has to be done first.
But maybe at the same time put in a national womens league that play prior to the Res league. Why?
a. the possible abuse that the women may get from spectators would be greatly reduced due to smaller numbers of supporters being at the grounds.
b. there simply is not enough money around to support a womens league totally separate from the mens. If the FFA are struggling to make a profit from the A league that is improving (generally speaking) every season, then how in the world would a separate womens league survive when travelling costs, insurance, accomodation, salaries etc etc come into the equation.
c. all womens teams in the national comp be affliated with the mens teams from the A league. Because all the marketing etc has already been done. It saves money.
d. and finally we need soccer/football to continue to build in this country and its not going to on the back of a womens league so that is why you have to have a mens Res league before a womens league, to give the national team more strength/depth. player exposure all that stuff

OR... women's league in the winter, and mens seniors + reserves together, so that the ressies can actually play in the senior fixtures too

I still have a suspicion that nobody wants to put the horse before the cart.
(not just this topic also the other one relating to SASI/Sensation)
When the local competition has a strong base, only then going round in circles will stop.

Ok if clubs are not receptive to a Super League., then try a zonal idea mid week. North South East West Central and an under 18 Junior team.

Play over 10 weeks, preferably before State Team selections, all players in including SASI from previous year.

Do away with trials because these games would be full on,especially knowing what may come at the end of it. The SASI and State coaches could be employed to coach these teams. So thats all in as well.

Initially players would play for the areas they live in or originated from.). Then if a Zone had more than 17 players, let them play for the zone next door who may not have enough quality players.

Then they can all go back to their clubs on Sunday.

Out of all this should come more competitive State teams and ultimately an Adelaide Sensation with top credentials. :)

but u guys are missing the whole point of starting up the womens league. if we keep resorting to the whole overused excuse of "there is no interest in womens football" then we will never get anywhere. This is why it is important, coz there is NO interest but thats entirely due to the fact that many people have never seen a game of womens football in their lives

who knows there isnt more interest out there. sitting back n criticising all efforts to make the womens game better isnt helping. yes a youth/reserves league would benefit too, however the sport is for all and i think both sexes should be given a go

That maybe true. But they still have to exist in this world. With or without being paid there are costs involved which has to get paid by someone.
If you have not the numbers to pay for a league to exist then the only way would be to "piggy back" onto something that is already there

Ecky 8, There would be no state training because the State squads would not be picked until the end of the competition. The Under 18 team in the Comp would be like a Junior SASI/Sensation. There would be no full on SASI for 3 months. Thats what I meant by all in. How much training girls do other than the 2 games a week (one Zone and One Club.) would probably be one night with their club a week and one night with the Zone team. Thats a pretty heavy workload. Depends how committed the player is. :)

Come on guys maybe stepping up to the plate in a one in all in 6 Team League will sort the merry go round out. Player and coach wise.

This has become an endless argument.

My Opinion is for the betterment of womens soccer, not for any personal axegrinding.
