SAD GAL wrote:Too obvious Shorty. Too easy. People get paid good money and a bit of "outside the square thinking" is required. Unfortunately it comes down to one thing. Complacency.

Good players get peeved off at this complecency and only when you look inwards from the outside you realise how UGLY it all is. SAWSA shoudl have set (many years ago) a strategy to get as many people as possible with the right level of qualifications to coach the sensations/sasi, etc. The pool is shallow.

One way to deal with compalcency is to make set terms of office ie after 2 terms you cannot continue on. In our case here in Oz, coaches and Administrators must be accountable, set a plan in place and agree with management on outcomes ie performance based contract of employment. Then at the end of the their term of office, they would have had a few reviews undertaken and a decision made on their tenure. In any case the safety net is 2 terms and you're finished.

After all players get assessed at the end of each year AND a decision made on whether they keep the scholarship or not! Its one persons decision! Turn the tables around and you will see results!

This rids complacency and will make everyone achieve the highest they can. And we would have innovative ideas on how to manage this brilliant resource of women's soccer! You girls should try and get involved in your game. Its your game and your voice must be heard.
SAD GAL

Some interesting points for discussion.
Coaching Pool - I think the quality coaching pool is shallow in many sports and at many levels, including Women's Football
Performance Based Contracts - a good idea but it must be defined what a "successful" performance means - National Selection?, Inrecasing the sport's popularity and positive profile? Winning?
Limit on Terms - Given them a chance but review annually and a 2 term (or whatever is mutually agreed) safety net. Makes good sense. If the players and staff are achieving what they set out to achieve then keep going. If not, review the plan and outcomes and re-focus with a new plan. Keep the players and staff that can achieve the new plan
Complacency - for staff and players. Complancency leads to less than peak performance, so I agree with your sentiments. Of course you need a few assessors (as you rightly suggested) plus objective measurement of outcomes.
"Get involved in your game" Very, very appropriate. It's easy to provide advice from the outside looking in. I'm pretty sure any sport would welcome more help in virtually any capacity...
For the Game. For the World.

As a person involved in the game you should know the answer to some of your questions.

Massacred dreams too harsh. Players who aspire. then continually fail for selection gradually see their hopes and aspirations fade. As they get older they the the inequities in the system. Masscared? Speak to them sometime.

Unfortunately after 8 years around the traps, its always seems to "next year. Coming soon. Changes happening"

As Coyote says (in a round about way) if the captain is the same then its "steady as she goes!". This is where the difficulties lay because in busienss a CE always charts the course and is repsponsive to the changing dynamics. They review what is not going well and make changes. If things are going great guns then we have no problem!

I havent mentioned this but im REALLY disappointed with who the coaches selected in that squad. I dont think i need to expand on what I mean by that.

Anyways, GOODLUCK to the AS team in the tournament. Have fun!!

I would be interested to know which players you believe are high quality players not currently in the squad. I would also like to know which igh quality players attended the Adelaide Sensation trials.

As stated in previous post, with another SASI intake for 2008 looming, selections for World Cup squad for U17's / U20's on the horizon and a new Women's National League being drafted for 2008 you would have expected huge interest by players.

I think most players playing against Adelaide Sensations on Friday night (the Allstar team) are in the Young Sensations squad...
Anyone have any names?

Drusetta I think you just misunderstood what I said. My point was if players in the premier league are good enough to make the all star team then they should be good enough to make the Sensation team.

How can a player be named as the best 11 in the state but then not be good enough for the sensation squad???

coz not everyone plays club

those who do and are picked in the all star team may also have no aspirations to go any higher

lollipop. Take into consideration that it is quite possible that the best 11 in the state are already in the adelaide sensation squad.

Hence why the best 11 may not actually be the best 11 in the state...
If that makes sense..

I had the great pleasure of playing with the young sensation girls tonight!
Let me tell you things are looking good! For young girls they play a very mature brand of football and tonight especially the fight in them was great! For everyone who is concerned about the youth of the game ..things are looking up! - and they have only just started training - and intensive training at that - first time they played together also i think so - very impressive lets hope they keep getting better!

now that max has been able to enter the "big time" womens coaching role (young sensation!!) - he should be taking over the soccer world in no time and get things up and running smoothly like he did to fulham for the 14 years he was there!!!
