Whats the latest general gossip in amateur soccer circles?

Post by SAOPAOLO 10 »

One just to start is that there are many new clubs forming in 2008. Are they just break away clubs or should saasl cap the no of clubs as many clubs are struggling with numbers anyway

good arguement, but i dont think SAASL will ever turn clubs away if they can meet the criteria. Its been happening for a long time, clubs coming and going generally not many grounds/facilities available as we have found in recent times, as well as players.

If they dont let new clubs in and only replace the clubs leaving then people who want to play will always find an existing club, hence stregthen what we already have. There are way too many clubs in circulation

If they meet criteria and pay fees they are in.

It's OK them starting but can they finish the season?, we had one team drop out mid year and another one not turn up for the last game because they had drinking commitments  Our council gets about 5 calls a week about new (soccer) teams looking for a piece of turf to play on. There response GO JOIN ANOTHER TEAM!!

When we played the team that dropped out the first time round the referee refused to start the game because he wasn't confident he was gonna get paid!!!

As a rule yes, but often there's some stuff up and it's easier to get the game going.
Generally most refs get "paid out" during and after the game!!
