Yogi, do you know if that shop is open on saturday?

Sentanta, I want to look at equipment first because I want to know how I can record whilst I am at work or in bed. My biggest beef with foxtel ten years ago was having to set two timers (one for the video and one for the foxtel decoder) to record something.

I have seen sattelite capable pvrs on the internet before and if I am wondering if I can find a set up compatible with mine.
Not sure if their open on Saturdays Bodo, but if they are a retail outlet , I cant see why not.
There is also another satellite shop on the cnr.of Regency rd. and Torrens rd. Kilkenny.Diagonally Opposite Arndale shopping centre. I havent been in that one but its worth checking out as well.

I have seen the one outside Arndale, but I'm usually driving a bus at the time and it's bit hard to say to passengers "hang on, I want to sus spomething out" but I'll try and look at both this weekend

as always no Serie A.

Love how the Setanta home page has an image of the Milan derby but when you follow the link for Serie A you get an error message

Could never give up living in Australia but if the time difference between kickoff wasn't bad enough the crap coverage of Serie A just tops the cake.

Looks like I'm stuck with RAI international and Italo Cucci  indefinitely.

Burns even more when you see the coverage offer for EPL

I emailed Setanta regarding Serie A, saying this -
Hello,

Just a quick enquiry regarding whether or not Italian football is available on Setanta Sport in Australia. On the home page, I noticed a picture of Adriano of Inter Milan and Gennaro Gattuso of AC Milan and on the following page,

http://au.setanta.com/portal/systemcontent/au-offerings

I noticed that Serie A was listed as one of the football leagues shown, but when I checked the schedule, there was no mention of Italian football. So is it going to be broadcast on Setanta? If so, which clubs can be broadcast?

Finally, is there any chance of obtaining Juventus TV, just as there is Manchester United TV, Celtic TV and so on?
And got this in reply -
We are currently in the process of renegotiating our Serie A package and we should have it confirmed by the 21st of October when the international break has concluded. Unfortunately it has taken longer than expected to renegotiate, which is why we have left it as part of our content on our website but not made any big announcements about it - but it should be confirmed by this date.

We hope to have an Italian Club channel confirmed by this date as well.

Yours in Sport

Setanta Sports Australia
So I guess we just have to wait and see what they can negotiate.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what else you can pick up if you have the dish for the optus b3 satellite?

cheers Juvetino.

Amazing what happens when people are proactive instead of just being reactive

Just have to ride with it, wouldn't surprise me if they get the rights one year and lose it the next.

If they pick up a decent coverage of Serie A I'd drop fox in a flash and rest only with Setanta & the Internet.

I had a look at that page already. Doesn't seem like a lot there that I'd look at, but setanta sounds good.

On that link is there anything which marks which ones a free to air satellite? Does 'digital/encrypted' mean these are a subsciption service? The Korean one looked appealling but not if I have to pay for it

I went to the place on Grand Junction Raod this morning just before Hanson Road. What an arrogant prick. The prices were more or less similar to what you suggested. When got on to the topic of recording he didn't answer the questions I asked but prattled on about something else. I asked if I could look at the manual for the decoder because that would probably have answered the queries I had and he wouldn't let me do it. When I asked him why I couldn't look at the manual he ranted

"I am the technician and you don't understand" Image

Well, he may be 'the technician' but he has no people skills and he didn't answer the question I asked. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Then I went to the one on Torrens road. They are closed saturdays so I shall go again monday.

I emailed them as well and they gave me a reply of:
Hi,

We don't have our Serie A package confirmed as yet, but we're currently
renegotiating our Serie A package and should have it confirmed by the 21st.
We plan to show 2-3 live games per week.

Also, one of the clubs we are looking at securing is actually Milan TV, but
we will confirm our club channel once we have confirmed Serie A on the 21st.
the MilanChannel will be killa on there.

I went to the one on Torrens Road again today, but it was closed, condradicting it's operating hours on the front door. I rang the 1300 number that Setanta listed on the link that 'setanta' posted and they actually answered the questions I asked, so now I know what I wanted to know. It's just a case of getting it done.

Looking forward to it

Good to hear you got your questions answered bodo. The guy on grand junction rd. was rude when I was asking him questions and he basically wanted me to sign up there and then for the satellite dish and decoder.

You too!

Yeah, he (the guy on Grand Junction Road) was really arrogant as I said earlier in this thread and I decided I wasn't going to get the answers I wanted and thought I'd be better off reading a manual to a decorder or two. I've bought sterios at Harvey Norman and they've had no problem with me looking at a manual, but this guy wouldn't have a bar of it.

The main thing thing is I know what I wanted to know and it's just a case of getting it done.

thought the were going to announce their Serie A rights on Oct 21. I suppose they didn't mention which year.
