FULL RESULTS - 2007 State Talent Identification Championship

Post by johnydep »

Congratulations to the FFSA for holding a great tournament!

The group of players and parents I was with went home with smiles on their faces, and we all learnt a lot as well.

Hope it was good for everyone else.

The 2007 FFSA State Talent Identification Championships was a highly successful event over the long weekend, with beautiful weather gracing the 3 day event at The Paddocks.

Thankyou to all the players, team officials, referees, volunteers, parents and spectators for making the event a enjoyable experience for all involved.

Thankyou to Para Hills Knights Soccer Club for their great hospitality during the event.

Yeah, we enjoyed it as well. Went into the tournament not expecting anything, and the boys played really well.

A pleasing and rewarding weekend, thank you Nino and Rob. :D

Great, well organised tournament.....it all ran very smoothly and on time (except for the photos).

It was great to see so many quality players and all played in great spirit.

A big thankyou to all of the coaches and others that gave their time freely over the long weekend to give kids the opportunity to play at the next level.

Nice also to chat with other parents that are normally on the opposite side.

Congratulations also to the officials, I know one young lad who officiated in 11 games over the long weekend, and a young lady who was up around the similar number of games. Without officials these tournaments do not happen.

My lad played in the under 13's as well. It was a good weekend and we all enjoyed it, thanks to all involved. :D

Does anybody know about how they identified the new talent, and when and how they will be told if chosen.

The Under 13 State Development squad coach seemed to be out there watching the 13's all weekend......he was certainly in a good position to pick up any unidentified talent:wink:

Hollygirl....what did you think about the refereeing in the game on the last day North vs South when a player went down with a head injury for the second time in the match. He told me after the game that "at this age, kids will only be given first aid if they ask for it!" Given the fact that the kid was on the ground clutching his head and crying was surely enough reason to bring on the trainer. The ref said the kid didn't answer when he asked if he wanted the trainer. For the record (and no thanks to that particular ref) the lad was concussed and not allowed to play the last game. Any refs out there willing to clarify the rules for me as I am still a little confused. :?

Thanks Mattie....wonder what he was thinking then? Maybe got a bump on the head himself in an earlier game  Nice to say hello to you on the weekend too.

Hi Rabbit.....yes I recall the incident...we were calling for the kids to kick the ball out....but they did not understand.....truly, common sense from the referee at that age group should have been to stop the game. Unfortunately I see it happen on a regular basis....we need to always remember that it is only a game and at U13's they are still only kids...

At any level of sport it shouldn't be left to the players to stop the game. Particularly with a head injury referees are to stop the game immediately and call for the appropriate attention.

Does anybody know about how they identified the new talent, and when and how they will be told if chosen.
There were representatives of various organisations watching games and taking notes.

Players that were identified were notified at the end of the last game, the manager received the details to give to the coach and then to pass onto the players.

"Player of the tournament" was also identified.

All STIC coaches had a form with 3,2,1 to mark down which players stood out on the opposition team. These forms were handed in at the end of the tournament and the FFSA will be checking to see if any names keep popping up. I'm guessing those players will get a letter.

Other than that, I'd say that the players would have gained a lot from the tournament, they should all feel like champions.
