she has been consistant throughout the whole year, and to play well in the big match of the year, she was awsome.

shes had to fill big boots as that was giannas possie, and she did it well for most of the season.

for her to get BOG over a name like Kirralea Brock, i think we should all give her credit. both players were outstanding, and at the end of the day, only one had to be chosen.

so well done thom!.. u earnt it!

as for Fulham losing, we're just proud of winning the League as that takes a whole year! and for us to come out week after week, either with injured players, 10 players, players going overseas..i think we did better then everyone expected..

anyway well done to metro. but i thought it was a pretty even match!

its always hard losing on penulties

Well done to both teams it was a hard fought out game. Ref was refreshingly professional and gave correct calls most of the day ...except for the red card that was not given, to guess who.....a Metro player!! I'll say no more.... Maybe the playing of penalties should be looked at by the FIFA gurus..its a cruel way to decide a game..one method could be removing players from each team after the regulation extra time eg then play another 5 mins....if no decision then remove another player from each team.

Shorty - you aquitted yourself fantastically in your first year as a goally I believe....defending a penalty is not easy even if your're a trained goally !!

Thomai - was definitely a worthy winner of BOG, she repelled balls time after time from defence and was solid all day for Fulham. Shame to those who showed poor sportsmanship by booing when she was announced as the winner...you obviously weren't watching the same game everyone else was.

Metro defence certainly did their job in gang tackling MJ and Harry all day that I believe was the difference, certainly stopped Fulham's goal scoring options, also MJ just missing a one on one with Metro keeper. The game was indicative of the hard tussle these two teams have had all season.

Fulham worthy Prem Champions, Metro have won the 2007 Cup final a very entertaining season of womens soccer.....now for a well deserved rest for all over the next few weeks.

Goodluck to those players playing in the Zone Comp coming up, the season not quite over for you.

Well done to all players for your efforts we love to see the game being played with such spirit.

i just dislike the fact that you come on here and talk like FULHAM is the f-kn greatest team on this face of the earth...

yes you have won 4 leagues in the row and congratulations.

but yesterday was a wake up call and congratulations to metro and it isnt always the best to lose in penalties...
It is disappointing that the world is full of bad critics. The world would be a much better place if everybody would acknowledge the good rather that try and and find the negative. As a soccer supporter and a good and fair spectator, I prefer to acknowledge a great achievement which the FULHAM PREM'S have succeeded in doing by winning 4 league titles in a row, is a fantastic effort and YES they are at the moment the best Club in SA until someone else can beat that record, whether you like to hear that or not. I would be asking myself how can we as a Club achieve that too - because that must feel great! Well done FULHAM.

p.s. and another comment re: 'that was a wake up call' - that was not a wake up call but a cup final that could have gone either way and only one winner which was Metro on the day. Well done to Metro!

I have alot of respect and admiration for most of the Clubs in the prem league and I wish them the very best of luck for Season 2008.

As for the Metro supporters yesterday they could use some major lessons on how to act appropriately during an entertaining cup final and instead of booing the BOG player who thoroughly deserved it, maybe clapping her great effort or keeping quiet.

Both Kirralee and Thomai are great defenders and both played very well yesterday. This award can only be given to one player and this was decided by neutral parties and people that are very involved in this great game. So lets give credit where credit is due and allow Thomai to enjoy and be proud of this award! Well done Thomai!

I am NOT taking anything away from Thomai, I think she was best for fulham but overall I believe Kirrals deserved the medal. She regularly stopped Fulhams No. 9 from attacking the goal with PERFECTLY timed tackles. And So did Metro's left back I think it was no. 13.
To say the Metro defence gang tackled just shows that ur a one eyed fulham supporter! No way did a GANGTACKLE occur on MJ and credit is due to the defence of Metro led by no other than Kirrals!
But hey the panel chose the BOG and thats problem. I as a NEUTRAL observer and been playing the game since a little lad have the OPINION that Kirrals should of won.
BOTH TEAMS played really well and EITHER team could of won. Penalties is only the LAST RESORT to decide a result!
Congrats to Thomai for a great game, as well as "harry" who playing with an injury did very well.
As far as the booing goes, well ur not always going to please everyone. I am sure if Kirrals or another Metro player won - The boo's would of been the same from fulham supporters!

Neways, at the end of the day the real winner is the Womens Footbal league. As I said before - I will definitely be watching MORE womens football in the future and supporting!

I am so proud of the metro prems and reserves! Great effort on winning the cup. It was a great game to watch! Especially well done to the reserves who also won their league... and of course we can't forget the div 2 metro girls who came up a division after winning division three last year and won the division 2 this year!

I was so surprised to see the metro goal scorer Rochelle in the advertiser!

What a legend :)

women's football is finally starting to get some recognition!

I'm very disappointed in the metro clan (who ever it was) who were responsible for that. what happened to sportsmanship? who cares if there was stuff written on the forum or myspace or facebook or what ever previous to the game...that stupid and silly crap shouldnt be brought out and written on a banner for the whole football community to see, and probably put a dent in the womens football reputation..nice one

Some of u may think i am just bitter about the loss to fulham. but for those of u who actually know me, i am not like that at all. congratulations to metro, i'm sure u deserved the win, But in my eyes, you have now gone from being so highly respected, to now dropping to such lows. very disappointed indeed.

Well said Neits, there is a way to behave and Metro supporters showed why this forum is always full of Metro slanging...because they just dont know how to behave with dignity!!! Just look at the AFL the other week with Glen Archer retiring..Port had just demolished them, they should have been celebrating their win and the fact they are going to play in a grandfinal...but the whole team and supporters gave Archer a standing ovation for his last hurraah..thats sportsmanship, not booing players no matter what your thoughts are or who you support. I'll say this again...METRO if you want respect act like you deserve it..not carry on like the low lifes you are....your club officials should brought to task for allowing this kind of behaviour to continue....infact it goes as far as breaching the games code of conduct rules and bringing the game into disrepute!!!

In the cold light of day...FULHAM are worthy of the accolades they receive for their PREMIERSHIP win and the way they have handled themselves as a club...in terms of meaning this is won over an entire season of games, look at their results in games and goals scored. It shows they were the best in the entire Premiership league. The Cup played after a round robin comp..with top two in the final.

Clubs should be doing some soul searching over the summer and lets see better sportsmanship in Season 2008.

the booing was poor... but so were some of the utterances from the other side of the fence...

shit happens!!!

Well done Metro... well played Fulham

just another chapter to the book... let the saga continue... it's good viewing!

tongue in cheek or not, doesnt matter. i know how tongue in cheek can get u in the shit and on the wrong side of ppl. and that is exactly what has happened to certain ppl from metro.

..and im not a sour grapes type of person. i never bagged metro or anything about winning. im sure the deserved it and nothing will take away their name along side 'cup winners 07'. i just think metro need to learn how to be gracious winners.

the end.

I watched the game as a neutral supporter of the "game". Don't go for either Metro or Fulham and don't have anything to do with Prems at all...

I thought the best player for Metro was number 14. She played with class, was a great little attacker down the wing, and didn't resort to underhanded tactics when she was on the back foot... which i'm sad to say i saw from a couple of Metro players on the day, she just kept plugging away. Quality player, which everyone else seems to have overlooked for the "big names". No 14 was my stand out for Metro. Thought Metro's captain looked a little flat, but that's the first prems game ive seen for like 2 years, so who knows, but she got subbed so maybe she wasn't feeling well. I've heard good things about her playing.

Thought best for Fulham was their two central midfielders... 12 and i think her name was Chi?? also the defender in the back for Fulham, the only one with her shirt tucked in?? Number 5.. Can't remember, but she just kept going.

All in all, exciting game from both sides, both sides fought hard and it was what the program promised - a crackerjack - well done to all involved 8)

Just because you have said that you're not bitter doesn't make it true. You are bitter if you are trying to take away from the fantastic metro win with slander about the metro club. I was there and I heard that booing. I'm sure it was done tounge in cheek and was probably directed at the ref rather than anyone else. I understand that for those who have just lost a cup final on penalties you might be a little sensitive to such things, and booing may have been a little insensitive, but trying to bag the whole metro club for something like that is reacting out of bitterness. Most of the division 2 metro girls came out to watch the team that knocked them out of the cup in the semi final and cheered them on because they believed they deserved to win that day. Being respecful when you have lost is also important
