pool stutter at home
Birmingham produced a battling performance to frustrate a below-par Liverpool and earn a deserved goalless draw at Anfield.
The Premier League new boys defended superbly in a performance which Blues boss Steve Bruce would have been proud of in his hey day.
Liverpool struggled to create any clear goalscoring chances as they put in another disappointing display following their 1-1 draw with Porto in midweek.
The draw was Liverpool's third successive draw and sees them drop further behind early leaders Arsenal in the table.

Im a liverpool supporter. I am not going to complain about anything. This was a must win for liverpool and they only managed one point. Im very disapointed with the result and we cant expect to win the title when we drop points to birmingham at home. Hopefully they will use this as a lesson and start getting some results. Benitez is a good coach but the rotation system which he implmented is not going to win the premiership for the club. Arsenal are looking very strong so far and liverpool are going to have to pull it together to keep up.

Same old Liverpool last night. They just don't know how to defeat a team that puts 11 behind the ball. Full credit to Birmingham. They had a game plan and it worked brilliantly. This is not the first time a team has come to Anfield and frustrated the Reds. Rafa needs to work out ways to break these types of defences.

better than last season i spose, our away form was rotten last season.mattieg1200 wrote:yer we have abetter record away from home than we do at home..
agger out, still didn't conceed, that shows depth doesn't it?
we've got about 6 players ready to play in the midfield, ibax is no loss at all.
we win our catchup game we're outright 2nd, we've had 2 blips which were against pompey away which isn't an easy place to play at and satdee against the brum.
i dont understand why torres would start on the bench, fuck the rotation policy when it comes to 25million pounds of player.

Bloody hell if your a Man U fan and you don't like him rotating players, imagine how i feel!!!!!!!!!!! We will never win a title unless our best players play. Lampard & Drogba hardly got rested the past 2 years. Torres has to start, especially at home. I thought this season, the league was going to be the priority. Well it seems Europe is going to be the main target again this year.
look at this bloke, worry about your own team... all of sudden ManUSA string a couple of wins with pathcy performances and Pool stutter cos RAFA DOESNT PLAY TORRES UP FRONT, and we are all in hiding, hardly! I think most Pool supporters have said we wont win this year, but niether will ManUSA... Assnal will destroy this season (cue. Rigoni telling me how smart i am, and how he agrees with me...) Assnal resemble ManUSA at the start of last season, and we all know that finished, so they are my pick. ManUSA still look patchy and i cant wait to see Tevez and Rooney step on each others toes!MUFCBOY wrote:wheres all that talk about there great start 2 the yr... 2 me its still the pool of old

re: rafa's priorities; i think his priorities will always be 'all four competitions', he wants to win it all, but i think he's putting too much into the cup comps.

Thats the thing. Our squad is pretty young. As if Torres needs a rest??? He's 23 FFS. I remember the days when i played on the Saturday for 90 mins, went out that night and got pissed, ate like a fat pig on Sunday and then played on the public holiday on monday for 90 mins. I'm sure players with all the recovery & technology available to them can play 2 games a week (and its not every week they have to play 2 games too)
